Mix zantac with formula

Common Questions and Answers about Mix zantac with formula

Avatar f tn Suggest when you change from soy to regular infant formula try mixing ¾ soy formula with ¼ regular infant formula and see if he tolerates it. If he does, then after a week or so, try doing a bottle mix of ½ soy formula, and ½ regular infant formula. Gradually go to a bottle mix of ¼ soy formula and ¾ regular infant formula then totally to all regular infant formula. This will help with his tolerance. Here are a few suggestions to help with acid reflux.
Avatar n tn If your baby is already taking 30 ounces of formula a day and still seems hungry, you really do need to take it up with the doctor. How is her weight? Signs of overfeeding include vomiting (not just spitting up) after a feeding, and very frequent, loose watery stools. Again, you should seek your doctors advice if this is happening. Underfeeding may be evidenced by your daughter failing to gain weight, seeming to have a very thin face, and seeming to be hungry after a complete feeding.
116879 tn?1266519849 I am trying formula #4 after 3 afternoons in a row with Ameera crying non stop again. I was given free samples. Honestly, does it help?
Avatar n tn Unfortunately there's no one solution, and it's a matter of playing around with everything to find the right mix. And that includes foods as well. My vet had said there's a difference of opinion with that regard. Some suggest high fiber, and others low residue. Ultimately in my experience, I went through a year of trying different things to see what worked best. I really didn't want to do the surgery, though I have no regrets that I did it.
Avatar n tn At 2 months he was diagosed with silent reflux and put on Zantac. He did very well for 1 week. He had his 2month shots and then spiraled out of control. He went to the hospital because he wasn't eating and his reflux seem extremely aggreviated. The hospital took adomial ex-rays (which were normal) and ran some blood tests that were normal. The hospital couldn't run certain tests because his blood kept clotting. His dose of Zantac was increased and he was put on Nutragamin formula.
Avatar n tn ) Face clensers with menthol stung, and also left my face feeling greasy. But not in the haven't washed my face often enough way. I don't know how much money I've wasted on cough drops/throat lozenges, chapstick, lotions, etc, only to discover after application that, you got, there is mint of some sort in it. And sadly, avoidance seems to have only made reactions worse. Just the smell of other people's mints (breath mints, candy mints, peppermint sticks) makes me feel ill.
116879 tn?1266519849 Also, her pediatrician told her to mix some Kayro (sp?) syrup with water for her. But of course you should ask your docter before you try it. Good luck. And sorry about your insensitve husband. There seems to be a lot of that going around.
Avatar n tn Hello. My fiance has been suffering with eustation tube dysfunction for a little over 6mths. now. We have tried numerous decongestants and nasal sprays as well as a round of steroids. His ENT did allergy testing on him, however, he did not have any significant allergies. Our last resort was to have PE tubes placed. This only made his symptoms worse and they took them out after a couple of weeks. Suprisingly after they took the tubes out and his ears were healing, he was symptom free.
Avatar n tn Decogrl - I was afaid you may not see my response way down below so I added a post. PLEASE do not let your doctor tell you it can't be reflux JUST BECAUSE she eats all of her bottles! Reflux can be so much more complicated than that! It can be "silent" which means that the child doesn't spit up what they are refluxing, but the acid is still entering and BURNING the esophagus! Think about adult heartburn...we don't "spit up" but it sure hurts when we have it! Same thing!
Avatar n tn Is he breastfeeding? If not, get the gentlest formula you can find, and mix it with boiled, cooled water (in other words, be sure the water is sterile). Get some infant probiotics and put them into the formula -- they test better than all the other preparations sold for babies with colic. Go over to the breastfeeding forum, too ... they have good ideas.
Avatar m tn Get a full explanation and don't leave his office until you feel satisfied with his answer. If you have doubts on any drug, or need more information about them go see and discuss them with your local pharmacist.
Avatar f tn She had a LOT of problems with reflux and was put on Zantac. Once she got a little bigger we ended switching her to soy formula and BANG...no more vomiting all over everywhere! She now will take just about any bottle...but believe it or not...her favorites are the walmart brand bottles...AND her Nuby and NuK Sippie Cups!
290867 tn?1333572878 He refused the bottle with the new formula and the thickner! I then tried a bottle that had the new formula and rice! He took some then Projectile Vomited it! Ok so then I gave him the Alimentum and he did fine!!!! He did fine all night and ate 1 bottle at 9:30am ( 6oz) Then he fell asleep and I tried to feed him agian at 1:30 and refused and 1:55 and refused!
1222635 tn?1366399886 i figured the formula with rice starch was a good in between of what she has been eating and plain formula, and it would help ween her off of rice all together. she was doing great! she wasn't very fussy and was still eating every 4 hours. (her pediatrician said to continue feeding her every 4 hours) well the past few days she has been SO fussy. she SCREAMED bloody murder on friday and i just assumed something else was wrong because it wasn't time for her to eat.
889551 tn?1416188083 It has the rice starch added to the formula so there is no need to mix it with cereal. I used this with my 2 yo and it worked great along with Zantac. I actually stopped giving him the meds around 4 months. 7. Zantac doesn't help with PREVENTING the spit up, it helps with reducing the acid so it doesn't burn. This will only help with the symptoms your baby experiences DUE to the reflux..like the burning. It will NOT improve the spit up itself.
Avatar n tn I live in the uk so I dont know whether you can get this but with my second son now 11 months I got a formula called cow and gate pepti, which made the world of difference. It's worth making enquiries??
Avatar n tn Why don't you try buying the enfamil thickened with rice formula that is compatible with all bottles? Also, I read a while ago that Dr.Brown's makes a bottle specifically for cereal.
568875 tn?1424400805 At one point she was on a soy based mix, she couldnt poop for about 5 days. Well in the end nestle good start was the only formula that she could use....who thought? It took a very long time for them to find a formula that she could tolerate, however by about 6 months she was doing fine and one of the happiest babies ever! I know that no mom ever wants to to hear that it could take that long, I just hope that it might help you see some light at the end of the tunnel.
Avatar n tn What size nipple are you using? Maybe the flo is just too heavy right now and your child is taking in too much air with the formula. You might want to talk to your doctor about Mylicon drop; switching formulas; or, adding a tiny bit of rice with the formula. Are you at all breast feeding? Might be something you are eating? We had a similar story with our son. (kind of) From birth he rarely ever cried and slept all the time.
1330108 tn?1333680904 I have noticed she seems in less pain with the Zantac but still has symptoms. Though before the Zantac I couldnt breastfeed her she was arching her back and fussing. She had to be bottle fed so she could be upright. She also wasn't strong enough to BF exclusively but since Zantac she can tolerate being in the correct position to BF. I was really concerned that the GERD would stop me from BF. I am so very sorry that you weren't able to BF with your sons.
171768 tn?1324233699 I don't know and have much experience with reflux, but BF has nothing to do with it. My friends son has it and she says that with formula it is worse (she gives him both as she doesn't produce enough BM).
290867 tn?1333572878 my ped actually just switched aubree to the solitabs ( prevacis) and they are 15mg and she is only suppose to take a half of a tablet a day.. and I mixed it with just 1 ounce of formula.. the doc said if you mix it with more than that it looses its affects... but so far so good aubree seems to be doing better.. much less spit up... she has only gained 2 ounces in a month and half due to her acid reflux..
2006603 tn?1331332927 You can put a very small dosage of mylanta in every other bottle to help with reflux. It's a 1/4 tsp. I came home with it in my bottles to help with reflux, and we used it on our first son until we switched to the prevacid pill. Also keep him straight up for 30 minutes after he eats.
317019 tn?1327343013 The organic is best like Ashleen said, Apple juice especially as it has soo much natural sugers in it already. Isn't she eating formula with rice in it? Oh and does the dr still have her on the Zantac or are you just using the rice cuz of the cost of the meds? The rice will make her constipated if it is too thick and can even if it is not too thick. I would try to not mix as much and maybe not put it in one bottle a day that you will be holding her upright till the next bottle to help.
Avatar n tn i wasnt trying to start anything i didnt cut the nipple on the bottle i would give it to her with a spoon and bowl with formula mixed in it my nephew didnt get it with a cut nipple i dont know if they even still make them it was called a ceral feeder and it was a bottle sorda thing made for that and that was 7 yrs ago so all i am trying to say is the are all healthy and we gave them ceral before we was told
Avatar n tn sounds like she is doing great! i think i am going to start putting a little cereal in with his milk and see if it helps him stay full. he is downing 8oz formula every 2 hours. sometimes more. when he is awake he wants a bottle in his mouth. what kind did he say to give her??????? i also have a question........my doctor suggested getting an iud since i do not want anymore children and i did not get my tubes tied( scared of getting cut)!
Avatar f tn I slept well she slept well and never had a problem hearing when she was awake and needed me. I did this from day 1 with all the others and have never had a problem. So if room allows move her out of your room.
Avatar n tn Use an infant/child formulation, that is powdered. Follow directions for his age, and weight, and mix the BIFIDUS with water. This could quickly normalize his bowel movements, if the problem was partly due to an imbalance of the large intestinal "flora"(bacteria)-- due to antibiotics, or other meds. Also, avoid everything ARTIFICIAL. Read labels. And, check your water supply for contaminants, both micro-organisms, AND toxic chemicals!
