1628088 tn?1299532090 I also feel that he has had colic, since he cries out of no where with such a great force. I was mostly breastfeeding and he was drinking formula (similac advance) as well but maybe just about 2 oz. every other feeding.

Ok so then I gave him the Alimentum and he did fine!!!! He did fine all night and ate 1 bottle at 9:30am ( 6oz) Then he fell asleep and I tried to feed him agian at 1:30 and refused and 1:55 and refused!
4852917 tn?1386378680 When you mix up the formula it is good for up to 2hrs before it needs to go into the fridge. Then once It is in the fridge it is good for 24hrs. But once you take it out and heat the bottle up from being in the fridge it is only good for an hour.
889551 tn?1416184483 Honestly I would talk with your ped about switching her to a formula like Enfamil AR. It has the rice starch added to the formula so there is no need to mix it with cereal. I used this with my 2 yo and it worked great along with Zantac. I actually stopped giving him the meds around 4 months. 7. Zantac doesn't help with PREVENTING the spit up, it helps with reducing the acid so it doesn't burn. This will only help with the symptoms your baby experiences DUE to the reflux..
99627 tn?1301270952 Yes it can. 4 of my kids were on meds for reflux and were extremely gassy. IF she is formula fed you could try switching her to Enfamil AR it's formulated with extra rice starch to help with reflux. If that doesnt work you could try a soy based formula.
Avatar f tn My daughter kept aspirating so they had to thickenher milk by adding rice cereal to her formula and also giving her zantac. Zantac works well for acid reflux she's able to eat without spitting up. Everything will be fine .
1523285 tn?1315003118 good start gentle formula but I am also going to discuss a possible formula switch I went through this with my oldest and with a formula switch she was totally different baby. hopefully they can help us out in the am it just hurts to see my lil one so miserable and uncomfortable.
1222635 tn?1366396286 i figured the formula with rice starch was a good in between of what she has been eating and plain formula, and it would help ween her off of rice all together. she was doing great! she wasn't very fussy and was still eating every 4 hours. (her pediatrician said to continue feeding her every 4 hours) well the past few days she has been SO fussy. she SCREAMED bloody murder on friday and i just assumed something else was wrong because it wasn't time for her to eat.
284738 tn?1283106819 A good one if you have to go with formula is neocate or nannycare goat milk formula. Reflux meds do not correct the problem but make it worse. The problem is poor digestion...he needs MORE acid, NOT less!
Avatar f tn He has done sonograms of his stomach. Had us add cereal to his formula hes been on previcid and zantac we feed him sitting up, he sleeps 45 degrees elevated we keep in a sitting up position either in a walker or holding him for a hr or 2 after feedings, i dnt know what to do for him. Does anyone have any ideas i can run by his dr? The other weird thing is he holds it in for about 2 or 3 hrs then it all comes up. Its like its not digesting. Please any help im so tired of seeing him suffer!
1330108 tn?1333677304 With reflux babies you have to play chemist and figure out which amount of rice cereal is what they need to keep the formula down and you sometimes have to play with the dosage of zantac. They told me to use 1tsp of rice cereal per ounce of milk or formula and when that didn't help they said 1tbsp per 2 ounces. I changed her formula and we don't have to use the cereal at all. She now just has silent reflux.
Avatar f tn For fast relief from heartburn that is safe for mom and baby mix a teaspoon of baking soda or more if needed with water and drink. Not the best taste but very effective AND works very quickly!
1330108 tn?1333677304 Only for 7wks with my first son and 3 mos with my second but the feedings were about 3-6 a day with the rest formula and rice cereal mix. Needless to say I never had a big abundance of milk but I did manage to get them the good stuff right off the bat for when it counted most! My sis's son had the GERD pretty bad and had to take tons of meds from Zantac to some gas drops. He would get sick no matter what we tried and did that for his entire first year.
Avatar f tn My 11day old baby spits up a lot they changed him from reg formula to Soy Formula but he keeps spitting it up and it seems like a lot more what should I do
317019 tn?1532965586 i had her on similac neosure because she was 8 weeks premature but quite a few times i had to recessitate her because she was gagging on formula and stopped breathing...she was diagnosed with acid reflux and the doc put her on zantac and we started adding rice to her formula well, this happened again last night so i was at the doc office this morning at 8am waiting for them to get there...the doc wanted to keep her on that formula but its obvious my daughter is having issues with it...
503607 tn?1275671579 I was told to make a special formula for her that had whole goat milk, liquid vitamins, and brewers yeast in it, then slowly introduce rice cereal with the formula mixed in...and then pureed foods like mashed potatoes, yams, wild rice and scrambled eggs...I refused to put her on reflux meds because they decrease the stomach acid and thus impedes the body's ability to digest and absorb vitamins and minerals...
Avatar f tn I'm am 32+5 my heartburn acid reflux started at the beginning if the 3rd trimester like yours
Avatar f tn I recently stopped Pepcid due to dizziness and hallucinations, and found that it had also been the cause of unexplained itching and right leg pain (all subsided when I stopped the med). I have had chest pain on Nexium and zantac. Now that I am on the Prilosec, I am having shortness of breath, chest tightness, dizziness, and malaise. Is this serious? If I have H.
3185867 tn?1348434443 You can try mixing a little at a time with his formula and gradually increase the amount each time. It'll get him used to the taste again.
2169899 tn?1354674056 Try pumping that might help with your soreness and mix it with formula about 50/50 to start with and slowly ween here off of formula by cutting back the amount of formula you use with more breast milk that might help
Avatar f tn I have a cold and want to make some Neo-Citran (its actually a non-generic brand called Equate Hot Lemon Relief lol) and it has warning on the box not to mix with certain things but again I have no idea!
1222635 tn?1366396286 i am mixing it with formula...every bottle has cereal in it but thats why shes not eating a lot of formula. she should be doubling her weight in ounces i think right? we tried weaning her off...the ped asked me to try that and i did. i stuck with it for 3 weeks and she was eating normal formula...but it didn't work. her reflux was AWFUL again. she threw up every 5 seconds to the point where she wasn't even enjoyable to hold.
Avatar f tn s milk allergy and Gerd - and put her on a hypoallergenic formula and zantac and previcid and gas drops. Fine - but she still is in pain way too much - and they just keep feeding her more formula (cold) to calm her down, it is a ongoing problem. That is when I decided to check out the amount of formula - 35 ounces in 24 hours for a month old baby weighing 8 pounds is way too much! But, my daughter and her husband won't get a second opinion - and we are now estranged this past week.
Avatar f tn Thank you! My plan was definitely to mix breastmilk with formula at first. But I'm happy to hear from other moms about what to use. (: tried giving her a bottle of straight newborn Enfamil and I think it was too thick for her. She spit it up and choked. I felt awful and haven't tried another brand since.
Avatar f tn If you have issues with constipation it is ok to add more water to the mix (a thin formula is ok, but never a thicker one). Good luck!
