I got zovirax ointment for cold sore but reading i found out ointment is for genital herpes does it really matter ?

When my refills are out, I have been planning on ordering Zovirax online in the dosage prescribd by my doctor. I know this is probably advised against, but are there any risks in doing this? It would just help my peace of mind so much more. Also are side effects such as hair loss only a concern for long term suppressive therapy? Acyclovir seems to help but it seems like it would depress me even more if I lost hair or went bald because of it.

Hello, My Doctor perscribed zovirax cream for a really small ulceration on my labia. it had not gone away in months , never got big or anything , just itched , I had a swab done and it was neg and blood work and was negative. I used the cream on my labia nad arround my peri area and inside the opening of the vagina. I am already on day 9, and it all went away around day 5 but obviously im still finishing the treatment. Taking FAMVIR 125 mg x 2 and/or zovirax (400mg x 2) every day as preventative but it is not working. Why is this not working anymore? What could be triggering this? Could I have another sickness causing this? I am getting desperate now. Doctors are just telllng me to take zovirax and disbelieve me. Since the diagnosis (via blood test), I have been consistently taking Zovirax. I have not had any outbreaks; however, I am still experiencing extreme depressive symptoms. So, my question is: With consistent use of Zovirax and a lack of outbreaks, are the mood symptoms still active??

I have been using Zovirax cream on my little blisters and basically have kept the whole area smothered in the cream (hoping that it will stop the infection from spreading). But I have just been reading that it is much better to keep the area dry, so now I am wondering if I am slowing down the healing process by using all of this cream?

Hello, I have genital herpes and I just had an outbreak two weeks ago, I took Zovirax as always, 200mg 5 times a day for 5 days... I finished the treatment and one week after (now) got another outbreak and it is worse...is that possible? isnt it supposed to suppress it? I live in europe and they do not have the valtrex suppressive therapy, do you know if i can take another supressive therapy?? should I take now another zovirax treatment even though i finished one 2 weeks ago??

About 5 or 6 weeks ago i got an outbreak of spots on my thigh. These spots started as red spots and then turned white like pimples. I presumed that it might have been heat rash since the weather had been really hot and I was stuck driving in the car for a few hours with no ventilation around my groin. About 2 weeks after, the spots/rash disappeared. Another 2 weeks after that I noticed that when i pulled back the forskin, spots were starting to form on the head of my penis.

If it is HPV, ask him about a herpes cream called ZOVIRAX. I used it several years ago and my genital warts were permanently cured. I know that ZOVIRAX wasn't supposed to work because it is a herpes treatment not a warts treatment but somehow it worked. It doesn't hurt to try, I guess. On 17th my results came for PCR RNA and was non reactive (detection till 20 ) and he told me that i can stop pep and told me to continue till 20th April (7 days) and gave me other medicines and told that i dont need to continue PEP.. He gave me Zovirax and Greatum 500 which i continued from 24th April to 11th May, 2 tablets a day.

It is severe i would say as was not able to treat until 5th day after it got bad. It was misdiagnosed as yeast. Given zovirax 5x day for 5 days plus zovirax cream. Is this enough? My lymph nodes near area are swollen. At legs too. Plus today a little vaginal spotting. Is this normal? If my type 2 blood test come positive does it mean husband cheated or could we have gotten this from previous partners 15 years ago? And its just coming out now? Thanks.

do you mean zovirax cream? I couldn't find a match for zovicar cream to comment on it. zovirax ointment doesn't really do squat for genital herpes so if it burns, don't bother using it. If you are expecting the lesions to crust over like a skinned knee, it's not going to happen ( I know, hard not to think that when they talk about the lesions crusting but crusting refers to the stages of healing more so than the appearance of things as they heal ).

Hi, try salt water gargle after every use,and the thrush,Zovirax cream.. there's not really much you can do about it ,but I find when I get stressed out I tend to follow up with a bout of thrush,so stay in the sun and be happy , good luck with the tan .

My doctor said it was Herpes, and I was in and out of her office in 60 seconds with a prescription for Zovirax. But after 4 days of applying zovirax 5 times (or more) a day, there's no change. Could this, after all, NOT be cold sores? Like I say, the blisters have not gone away in six months of first noticing them and this doesn't sound like what I know of Cold Sores.
