Miscarriage vs labor

Common Questions and Answers about Miscarriage vs labor

miscarriage

Avatar f tn I asked my doctor about how a short cervix would affect pregnancy and labor vs a normal or long one and was told there really wasn't any issues either way. A cervix is a cervix. Is there a more defining term for this out of curiosity?
Avatar f tn I have polyhydramnios. I'm 39 weeks today and my fluid is at a 29. The doctor settled to set me up for an induction asap. Then, after reviewing my ultrasounds from my fetal medicine specialist, he said that with all the fluid getting a c-section might be what's best. I'm only 1 cm dilated, and my cervix is thick because with all the fluid, the baby can't stay in position.
Avatar f tn Is it possible to have a miscarriage at 24 weeks? Or would you just go into labor?
1509498 tn?1332872936 I believe there's something new published that states if it's a natural miscarriage vs a D&C that there is no problem with starting immediately. Waiting is mainly recommended just so you know 100% that it's a new pregnancy, to allow the lining to build to a proper amount and for more accurate dating purposes.
Avatar f tn You can't have a miscarriage at 23 weeks. Its called pre term labor then. Call your doctor if your having pains or bleeding. She'll tell you if you need to go to er. I went into preterm labor and they kept me in the hospital for athe last month and a half if my first pregnancy. They will give you shots to stop the labor and some other medicine in an iv. You'll be on bed rest till the baby comes.
Avatar n tn is labor really that bad???

Avatar f tn I have to admit I am terrified. I have to go into labor/delivery the day before to have a pill inserted into my vagina and then return the following morning. At that time my doctor will start pitocan and break my water. How will the pill feel once it start to work vs the pitocan? Has anyone gone through this? And any advice twin vaginal delivery vs c section? Help. I'm so terrified.

Avatar n tn What's the difference in labor when it comes to natural vs being induced?
Avatar f tn she asked if I wanted to take further tests but I refused because of the high risk of miscarriage or preterm labor! I have an appointment at the end of the month for my anatomy scan and she said they can look via sonogram if there's abnormalities with any organs.... I am beyond devastated as to no one wants to hear this... anyone have advice for my situation...or anyone dealing/had to deal with this situation? Thanks so much for reading my vent!!
4408310 tn?1354124860 However, I was researching the procedure and saw pictures of it with open tubes vs. blocked tubes... the tech showed me my pictures and they look EXACTLY like the "open tube picture". I also had a miscarriage about 2.5 years ago. And I can't explain it, but I just have this feeling that my tubes have grown back. (because I know better than a doctor right? LOL) Anyways... is there any way that the doctor who read my images was wrong??
1428239 tn?1333457053 Hello I am just wondering if anyone has ever tried an Epi-No Delphine.... Looking into ways to prepare for labor .. and have been reading about perineal massages, etc to help with the stretching of vagina for smoother births.. It is suppose to greatly improve the risk of tearing during birth. I am just looking into it but it would be helpful to hear from people if they used it and if it helped at all....
Avatar n tn Lol it's ok. =) Well my normal pain starts out in weird sharp pains in my lower tummy, then immediately get sick to my stomach. Most of the time I throw up because it hurts so bad. (No one believes me when I say that, but it's honest to God truth.) Then after I throw up, I am in such horrible pain that I can't even scream. It comes on so fast and doesn't let up for 20+ minutes. Sometimes I pass out because I can't even breathe.
Avatar f tn ve been induced twice and went into labor on my own once. The most painful contractions I ever had were when I went into labor on my own. Doctors said I was having double contractions. But honestly I would perfer to go into labor on my own because when you have contractions you can rest at your home. When induced you are hooked to machines and its very uncomfortable.
Avatar f tn These are the criteria radiologists use to determine if findings on obstetrical ultrasound are diagnostic of miscarriage vs. suspicious for but not diagnostic of miscarriage: https://www.acog.org/-/media/Practice-Bulletins/Images/pb200a.ashx. Your scenario of gestational sac diameter of 16-24 mm and no embryo is in the column on the right, which is suspicious for but not diagnostic of miscarriage. This is why your doctor requested a repeat ultrasound in a few days.
Avatar f tn Depending on how much (a drop or so vs. A pad full) I would go in and get checked. Are you cramping also?
Avatar f tn I'm 29 weeks pregnant with a baby girl and I'm super excited. I had a son 10 1/2 years ago. I was induced and had an epidural but recall it being extremely painful. In January of this year I also had a miscarriage at about 11 weeks pregnant. I had mild to moderate cramping for a few days then severe cramping for under an hour before I passed the miscarriage. It was very pain but extremely emotional.
Avatar f tn Is effaced mean labor sooner than dilated?
290867 tn?1333569278 I was never induced, but my first labor was about 3 days of "labor" and then 13 hours of active labor and 1 hour and 20 min of pushing. With my second, had some preterm labor issues, went into labor at 32 weeks, they stopped it, but I was already 4cm. Got to 36 weeks and was 5cm and was in active labor for about 4 hours. It was pretty quick and he was out in 4 pushes. I am so hoping this one is quick as well since I am already 3cm at almost 34 weeks.
