Common Questions and Answers about Miscarriage treatment progesterone

808898 tn?1241548540 My understanding is, if it is one of those random abnormalities, then no amount of medicine or treatment will stop the miscarriage. Perhaps that was the case with you. Not that it makes you feel any better. But maybe knowing that it was inevitable will help you move on and continue with your plans. Will they test the tissue to find out if it was an abnormality??
Avatar f tn I almost had to take progesterone at the beginning cuz my progesterone level was a little low. Then a few days later they checked it and it went up on its own, so I didnt have to take it.

Avatar n tn It is important to note that while a higher progesterone level corresponds with higher pregnancy success rates, one cannot fully predict outcome based on progesterone levels. Progesterone supplementation is unlikely to help if started after a positive pregnancy test. " and this from Med Help itself: "Progesterone is produced by the corpus luteum and subsequently by the ovary. The secretion rate varies throughout the day.
Avatar n tn last time I did take it and had a miscarriage. All three tries I was on prgesterone. This time was true progesterone powder suppositoies (not prometrium) and after bleeding projesterone injections too.
1414894 tn?1288772640 It is used in a wide range of menstrual disorders that are thought to result from a lack of progesterone in the body. In women, progesterone is responsible for the development of a healthy womb lining (endometrium) that is necessary for pregnancy. The body produces progesterone at certain times of the menstrual cycle, causing the womb lining to flourish.
Avatar f tn Hello, Progesterone is very important for implantation to take place and its deficiency can cause difficulty in conception. Even if implantation occurs low progesterone levels can lead to miscarriage. It is best to treat this condition as soon as possible. The common treatment options are progesterone creams, gels, vaginal suppositories or shots. It is best to visit a gynecologist and discuss the treatment options. I sincerely hope it helps. Best wishes and regards!
464762 tn?1207331986 How well does progesterone treatment really work in preventing miscarriage? Are there risks to the unborn baby? Has anyone else been in this kind of situation? Responses are GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!
Avatar f tn I'm 34 weeks now with a healthy baby girl. But the progesterone does not prevent a miscarriage if the pregnancy is non viable. Most women only need pprogesterone support until 12 weeks. There isnt anything you can do to prevent a miscarriage if it happens it happens I wish I could tell you different but I've been there. If you would like to somehow add me as a friend or message me I would be happy to answer questions based on my experience.
Avatar n tn There is a condition called luteal phase defect (low progesterone) which has long been suspected to be associated with recurrent miscarriages. Treatment is progesterone medication. The problem is, there is no proof that luteal phase defect exists, or that adding progesterone helps. At any rate, after six miscarriages, if all testing has come back normal, it probably cannot hurt to use progesterone, regardless of any blood progesterone level. Good luck!
Avatar n tn We ended up getting pregnant immediatly and then had another miscarriage at the begining of September not even 3 months after the first miscarriage. With the second pregnancy we saw a heartbeat of 120bpm at 6 weeks 3 days and then at 10 weeks went in for another ultrasound due to very slight brown color in my discharge to find out that there was no heartbeat an the baby stopped growing at 6 weeks 5 days. I ended up miscarrying naturally later that night.
374593 tn?1257883550 What ever you do, do not stop your progesterone treatment until you see your doctor. There are many women who bleed during their pregnancy, I was one of them. I left you a sticky note yesterday telling you about my situation. I would recommend that you take it easy and stay off your feet until you see your doctor. Did you happen to notice if you passed in tissue during the heavy bleeding. If not I would say chances might still be good that your baby is fine.
1806721 tn?1510192923 I got pregnant from IVF/FET. My RE says the fever could be from progesterone supplements. Ironically, my P4 level drops sharply when I ran the fever. My PCP said the P4 drop gotta be related to the fever. I need to stay on progesterone for another 7 weeks, and expect even higher level of P4 later on. I'm on zpak, Decadron, and weekly intralipid infusion. Nothing stops the fever yet. I can't imagine living with 8+ weeks of fever like this. But if I don't take p4, I will miscarry.
Avatar f tn A threatened miscarriage is a condition that suggests a miscarriage might take place before the 20th week of pregnancy. Causes Some pregnant women have some vaginal bleeding, with or without abdominal cramps, during the first three months of pregnancy. When the symptoms indicate a miscarriage is possible, the condition is called a "threatened abortion." (This refers to a naturally occurring event, not medical abortions or surgical abortions.

Avatar f tn I have done some research as to the use of progesterone to prevent possible miscarriage early in pregnancy. I went through infertility treatment for over a year and finally became pregnant by IUI after 4 tries. I had to use progesterone suppositories during the first 12 weeks because my body was not producing enough on its own. Needless to say, I have a terrific 14 year old son.
Avatar n tn unicornate uterus or septate uterus), abnormal hormonal levels within the mother (ie. low progesterone), and systemic illnesses (ie. untreated thyroid disease). Treatment of a Chemical Pregnancy There is no specific treatment that is required for a chemical pregnancy. The most important follow-up test is to ensure that the women's hCG level has returned to non-detectable levels after a chemical pregnancy.

Avatar n tn I had a m/c back in July. My doc thinks the problem was low progesterone so started my on vaginal suppositories 3 days after +OPK, then checks my progesterone at 7 dpo. On the supplements, my prog. was 13.5. I have stopped taking them due to problems with bleeding. Now off of them, my level is 14.7 7dpo. My questions is: Is this a good level? Sorry if I rambled on!

186877 tn?1208613799 It was traumatic because of the amount of blood and pain but mostly because I saw the baby. The second time around I had a missed miscarriage and I had to make a decision. After a week, I decided to go ahead and get the D & E so that I could start getting some closure and begin healing physically and emotionally. I pressed my doctor to get some tests done. I asked her for all the screenings I could get with a blood test including a karyotype of my husbands and my genes.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am 5 wkd pregnant with twins following treatment for endometriosis and recurrent miscarriage (5 in 2 years). My doc recently upped my prometrium after I started spotting & now the nausea is relentless. I want to give these babies the best chance but I'm worried that the nausea may do more harm since I can no longer eat. I've only succesfully held down nibbles over the past 3 days & feel weak & awful. If I ask the doc to lower the dose, taking a risk or using common sense?
Avatar m tn HI, Elevated progesterone levels help in maintenance of the early pregnancy and also reduce the chances of a miscarriage. You may continue the treatment and monitoring in consultation with your Doctor. Hope this helps. Take care and good luck.

Avatar n tn Progesterone for miscarriage Progesterone doesn't prevent miscarriages. Miscarriages happen for many reasons, but lack of progesterone as a cause for miscarriage is not proven. The low progesterone levels found in pregnancies which go on to become miscarriages is a sign that the pregnancy is already failing.
Avatar n tn HCG 343 progesterone 20. On 18dpo HCG 1182 Progesterone 16. I am concerned that my progesterone was falling and my doc put me on prometrium (oral tablets taken vaginally) 2x per day "just in case". 1.5 days after I started taking it my HCG was 4772 and progesterone was 31. Can it rise that much in 1.5 days from the prometrium alone? I was told that its normal for progesterone to fluctuate like that and that its likely my prognesterone may have risen back up on its own?
Avatar f tn Personally I think I usually have a good amount because always around the time I am to start af I get really hot and I didn't last month. I also wanted to know how many of you had a miscarriage and then got pregnant again before you had your first af? Thanks for all your thoughts.
