Avatar f tn The smell wont cause a miscarriage hun ive got 2 cats and they go a lot my partner changes trays everyday but I can smell it while hes at work and im fine through my prwgnancy im 11 weeks now xx
Avatar f tn The worry is toxoplasmosis which is a micro organism which can be contained in some cats with no signs. I have 6 cats and am a veterinary technician. Have someone else clean the box or wear gloves. You will be fine.
Avatar f tn You should also wear gloves while gardening to prevent any contamination from parasites spread by feral cats. Interestingly, cats only shed the parasite for a very limited time after they contract toxoplasmosis. You can contract toxoplasmosis from eating undercooked meat or by not thoroughly cleaning utensils and surfaces that were in contact with the contaminated meat. There have been some cases of infection from blood transfusions. Good luck...
Avatar n tn I'm almost six weeks and still feel my usual pregnancy symptoms. Still nervous!!

Avatar n tn I just realized I did not tell you but they are cats. They appear to be fine except for the weakness. They eat, play, get into trouble and use the litter box and I have noticed nothing untoward in their daily activities. Shadow, the male, is king of the house and his appetite is a little more open - as in what I eat.
7588086 tn?1400793414 Toxoplasmosis can cause flu-like symptoms in adults (and sometimes has no symptoms). But in a baby in the early stages of pregnancy, it can cause serious birth defects such as eye and brain damage. These possible effects sound scary, but before you resort to giving your kitty away, take comfort in knowing a few things: Cats that never go outside are very unlikely to carry toxoplasmosis. Also, if you've been around cats for a while, you may be immune. Ask your doctor if she can check.
Avatar f tn Now me and my uncle just got into a legit argument because they have 3 cats and always let them get on the counter and table. They eat off the counters, eat off of our dishes, one of the cats pees down the kitchen sink, and my mom just sat some food on the counter and when I looked over the cat was licking it all over. There is hair in half the food because its rarely vacuumed and I am germaphobic and it is just driving me CRAZY!!!!!
Avatar f tn My husband came home with a kitten for our daughters but I remember my doctor telling me when I was pregnant with my 1st that the pee of the cat in the litter is harmful and can lead to miscarriage(6yrs ago). I personally don't want the cat now because I don't want anything hurting the baby but now my daugthers are so in love with their new Rosie(the cat's name). Is it really that harmful? Any of you ladies cat lovers and pregnancy went fine?
Avatar n tn They will know since they work around animals that may be sick and have that and they need to know how to protect themselves. I had cats all my life and I never got anything. I even had cats who had symptoms of cryptocococcosis. Leave your cats in door and they will not get it....in door cats are safe. Don't let your pet be around bird poop outside. cryptocococcosis is a fungus so if you or your pet do get it...fungus is treated with meds and goes away.
Avatar f tn my cats are indoor cats only I cant let them roam.
Avatar n tn I'll be six weeks along in a couple days. I have two beautiful dogs and one cat who must think he's absolutely hilarious. My cat has jumped on my stomach once or twice and I just am so scared that he's going to make me have a miscarriage because the little **** comes out of nowhere!!! My dogs occasionally put their paw on me when they need to tell me they want to go outside but it's not too hard like the pressure my cats entire body weight is. Has anyone else had this fear?
Avatar f tn Thank you for your response. I wish you the best of luck.
Avatar f tn Am 13 weeks pregnant I have a cat now theres a kitten theres alot of storys about cats and pregnant women must I get rid of the cat or what
Avatar f tn This is very common in cats and typically not serious, but some cats who are herpes positive do tend to have periodic viral infections.
531835 tn?1215615037 There is also a product that I have started to use called allerpet-c and it works wonders!! http://www.allerpet.com/ Try asking at the pet stores around you (the one I work at does carry it but it sits on a bottom shelf below the shampoo so not very many people know about it). I would also make sure you ask someone that has been there for a while. They do have research from third party that the solution actually denatures the protein of the cat dander.
Avatar f tn According to the symptoms you describe, the cats need antibiotics. When there is heavy discharge, the best treatment is antibiotics, like Clavamox would be one. It could be they have feline herpesvirus or feline calicivirus. Feline chlamydia, a bacterial infection, can also result in upper respiratory tract infections. I am going through that with my own cats, sneezing being the only symptom. Clavamox works well at killing the bacteria that causes this type of URI.
Avatar m tn One of them also had a heart defect and died but the others recovered after a week or two. My cats had not been vaccinated because I had been told that indoor cats were not at risk and we lived in a third-floor apartment in a complex where all cats were required to stay indoor. The only one of my cats that did not get sick was the one with FIV. My friend and her cats moved out a few months later but now we're thinking about moving into a house together.
4792059 tn?1361206694 I am appx 5w 2d and I do not have very many symptoms of pregnancy. I had an ultrasound done last week and they saw a sac but said it was too early to see anything else. I feel a bit of fatigue and mild cramping on and (no blood). I had a m/c about 8 months ago so I'm just worried. I feel like I should be experiencing nausea or something. Is it just too early still?
Avatar f tn No symptoms can be okay, just as long as you arent having miscarriage symptoms. Try to see a doctor. That will help ease the concern. Hormone levels fluctuate, though, so you might feel fine for a bit, then the nausea and fatigue might return.
Avatar f tn Her daughter has mental retardation. She swears up and down she didn't touch cat poop but you don't know for sure. Cats can carry the feces anywhere in the house by having on their paws. They walk everywhere on counters, pillows, couches. Maybe you don't wipe your table before making food on it. Or there's small pieces on the carpet you walk on.
Avatar n tn Hi all this is my first time ever posting here, am 6 weeks pregnant and I have had no symptoms.. this is my 2nd pregnancy, had a chemical miscarriage earlier on this year so am soo worried and scared, my first ultrasound is in a week and I dont thnk I cant wait for that week.. Avatar f tn It is my understand (and experience) that on average cats sleep about 13-16 hrs. per day. We have 2 cats that are "night prowlers" and spend most all day sleeping soundly. Hope that helps.
Avatar n tn Hi, cats usually do some twitches when they sleep. I've had cats for over 30 years-always had 2 or more cats. I've seen the sleep twitching a lot. I wouldn't be concerned, unless she can't be woken up immediately during the twitches. If she can be woken up right away and acts normally, then it's not a seizure.
