miscarriage

Avatar f tn a woman might have no miscarriage symptoms and may even have full-blown pregnancy symptoms at the time of diagnosis. A blighted ovum can also be miscarried naturally, in which case the woman would have typical miscarriage symptoms. Diagnosis: Blighted ovum might be discovered when investigating a mother's miscarriage symptoms in the first trimester or via first-trimester ultrasound for other reasons.
1608712 tn?1405261818 Hi! I also had a blighted ovum miscarriage Sept 28th 2010. We ttc right after and were successful. We are 25 weeks along. My first pregnancy had no complications so I didn't expect it. Even after getting a positive pregnancy test I was worried. Every time I went to the bathroom I would be making sure I wasn't bleeding. Now that we have made it to 25 weeks there are always worries.
Avatar f tn If the sac is empty then it's not a viable pregnancy
Avatar f tn While there are averages of when one would see these things on ultrasound, there ARE outliers. Is your wife having any symptoms of miscarriage such as spotting, cramping or pain? The other thing that they often do is check the numbers. Her hcg number should be increasing if she has a healthy pregnancy and decreasing if she is about to miscarry. I would wait maybe another week to be sure. I feel terrible saying that it isn't too hopeful but one should never lose hope.
Avatar f tn I myself had a blighted ovum the miscarriage process took 2 weeks. My body didn't start the miscarriage process for almost 3 weeks. My prayers are with you in this. It's a hard thing to go through. I hope all goes well with it.
Avatar f tn I was recently told I may have a blighted ovum. At what should have been 8 weeks I measured 5 weeks and showed no sign of Jr. At 9 or 6 weeks still nothing. They've watched for a drop in HCG. My HCG is doubling every 1.3 days, so almost every day. NO LOSS in symptoms what so ever. No discharge, no cramping, no backpains, no spotting, NOTHING. In fact, my naseau and breast size have still both been increasing since they told me I was going to lose my baby.
Avatar f tn A gestational sac larger than 13 mm that contains no yolk sac means the pregnancy is not viable, so when the sac is larger than this and there is no yolk sac, the doctor can diagnose miscarriage and a miscarriage that consists of no yolk sac would fall in the category of blighted ovum. However in your case, the yolk sac is there but there is no visible heart beat. I would suggest a repeat ultrasound as sometimes the heart beat is missed in earlier ultrasounds. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar f tn I spotted during my first and it ended in miscarriage and straight up bled my second and now she is 10 months old. Also, yes with a blighted ovum you would experience pregnancy symptoms. Symptoms are a result from the HCG in your system.
Avatar n tn With a blighted ovum the levels can keep rising and you can still have all of the pregnancy symptoms. Sometimes your body will not naturally m/c and since they did not give you anything to bring on the m/c that would explain why your levels have not declined. Before you have your D&C I would see if they would do another scan, I've read where dr's told them that they had a blighted ovum and get a scan later to find out that there was the baby.
Avatar f tn As far as we know right now there is no baby in my belly, only a sac was formed. No fetus was formed. (Blighted ovum). I beleive that makes for an easier miscarriage if I read correctly. I am supposed to be hearing back from my doctor soon to answer some of my questions. I was told to come back in two weeks for another ultrasound, but I'm not sure I want to wait that long to find out what is going on.
585555 tn?1218373440 there is a possibility of misdiagnosis but if you are measuring 9 weeks and there is no baby, then that is not a good sign. that does sound like a blighted ovum. they should start checking your hcg levels every 2 days because if it is a blighted ovum, usually your hcg levels start dropping around 8-10 weeks. I am sorry if this is the case. I had a blighted ovum with my 2nd MC.
807158 tn?1241556842 Hey, I'm sorry to hear about your loss. All I can think of is that maybe since your hormone levels are rising you are suffering from normal pregnancy symptoms even though it's a blighted ovum. If your levels are rising your body thinks it's still pregnant, and a level of 17000 coincides with when many pregnant women begin to feel more ill. I had to wait with a blighted ovum also, I know the pain and frustration of waiting for something to happen.
Avatar n tn I found out at 8 weeks that I had a blighted ovum and didnt start the miscarriage process for about 4 weeks after finding out. The whole process of the miscarriage took about 2 weeks. Miscarriage is a very hard thing to go through, I had the option to do the D &C but opted out of it my mind kept thinking that maybe something could change. Through out the whole process I kept wondering if I should just go ahead and do the D & C but my body finally finished it on it's own.
290018 tn?1240365868 Okay with our last pregnancy I just assumed we had a miscarriage...the OB had said what happened was the egg got fertilized but then stopped forming very early on. She said probably around 3 weeks or earlier. We didn't find out until 11 weeks at our first u/s. I have been reading and from what I can tell we didn't have a regular miscarriage we had a Blighted Ovum.
Avatar f tn I wish I could un-know everything just so I stop thinking about it. Does anyone know how common a blighted ovum is? I know miscarriage is such a small chance but I read about them everywhere on birth boards and seems like it happens to everybody.
Avatar n tn The explanation I was given was it was due to a blighted ovum. The placenta was still causing a release of hcg but the progesterone had started to drop. I finally ended up having a D&C.
Avatar n tn On sept 22 I went for mu ist doc appointment. He did a trans vaginal scan. it showed me at 6 weeks 2 days. There was a sac and yolk. The doc couldnt tell if he saw a fetal pole or not. There was a shadow... There was no heartbeat. I'm worried about a blighted ovum. please help. I have another scan schedulled a week from today. very nervous.
Avatar f tn t tell me what week the pregnancy had been lost. They never told me it was a blighted ovum but this is what I have concluded since researching. However, every where I read about a blighted ovum it says that you will know its happened because you will experience bleeding and/or abdominal cramps but this was not the case with me.
311980 tn?1240963996 dropped to 10 and I was put on promentrium. I think its a blighted ovum but the doctor continues to say the sac isn't big enough yet to dignose that as of yet and says I could have ovulated late but that just makes no sense to me. The hubby and I had love on May 5 then 10 then 17th. I'm so confused and upset but trying to hold it together. I feel it will be a blighted ovum but I want to have hope its just hard since the first miscarriage.
1454858 tn?1306784378 I do not have blighted ovum for sure since I have seen the baby and heartbeat. I have had blighted ovum earlier last year and it was a miscarriage obviously.. I hope that all is fine with the baby even though my symptoms are so mysterious!
1121273 tn?1325367975 My first one was terminated due to an unhealthy environment in my body, 2nd and 3rd resulted in the loves of my life, 4th was a blighted ovum earlier this year, and I am very early on in this one. I just missed AF, so I am like 4 weeks 3 days. I am scared because with my blighted ovum, I had "milk" very early. It wasn't even like colostrum. It truly was more like milk. It was thinner and white rather than thicker and somewhat clear.
Avatar f tn i am around 8 and a half weeks pregnant ( last LMP not known as i was on medication for endometriosis and before my periods cud start i got pregnant) and even on transvaginal ultra sound i see only gestational sac and yolk sac but no fetal pole or heart beat!!!! its so depressing as my docs are considering it to be a blighted ovum and want me to do a D and C.... i have read so many other such cases here that i shud wait.... but what to do....
