Common Questions and Answers about Miscarriage rates pregnancy

miscarriage

Avatar f tn All kinds of numbers and miscarriage rates are running around out there after a heart beat is seen, I have seen from 5 to 10% quoted. It sounds like you are doing all the right things and things are going great. Hope this helps, not sure there is an answer.
Avatar f tn I've just found out that I'm 5 weeks pregnant at 46!!!. I'm delighted and so is my husband but I'm absolutely shocked to be pregnant at all (thought it was menopause) and very worried about the miscarriage rates for this age group, which I've read is as high as 50%. I don't smoke or drink, I watch what I eat and am taking preg vitamins. All of my blood tests were great and this is baby number 7. Others are between 27 - 6 yrs.
2118793 tn?1342449463 Ive heard you are more fertile after a miscarriage. I'm sorry to hear about your loss and I hope your next pregnancy is a healthy smooth 9 months.
Avatar f tn I was surfing around ( cause I was worrying about 2 trimester mc rates) and found this site http://www.amazingpregnancy.com/pregnancy-articles/337.html Hope it helps ease someones mind.
Avatar n tn The miscarriage rate is very low, given the age of the donor, likely not greater than 12%-13%. After you reach 13 weeks, it drops to 2%-3%.
1315622 tn?1286816855 Hello, I had a miscarriage with my first pregnancy and so they told me not to get excited till 12 weeks. Looks like your 12 weeks so congrats the rates of mc drop significantly at this point!!!! I am days away from 12 weeks and am SUPER excited!!!
Avatar f tn There is some data suggesting that implantation rates are lower with IVF; and miscarriage rates are higher for women with MTHFR. So, it is one of the things that REs like to treat prophyllactically. Biochemically speaking, the Folic acid theory is sound, and extra folic acid is unlikely to cause problems. Aspirin at that dosage is unlikely to "hurt" either.
Avatar f tn I visited my OBGYN on 2/18/08 for first routine OB visit. I was slightly concerned since I had been spotting for 5 days - started out brown and light pink, and now sometimes has a little bit of stringy red in it(also, I noticed a faint foul smell to this bloody discharge when I changed my pad). By my LMP (12/20/07), I should be 9 weeks today.
Avatar f tn I had a missed miscarriage four months ago @ 13 weeks. Had no sign of miscarriage, no bleeding or cramping at all! Went to my regular check up & found out the babies heart was no longer beating:( Your little ones heart rate seems strong!! If you haven't had any big issues with this pregnancy I would not worry!!! I had issues with progesterone being low in the beginning so they think that was a sign! :/ Just enjoy it & try to relax!
Avatar f tn I googled miscarriage rates - at age 48, the chance of m/c is 50-75 percent. On your other issues, I believe only your dr will be able to adequately answer them w/authority. With miscarriage rates this high, chances are that if there's a chromosonal abnormality, the body will miscarry it. Now women 40+ have a greater chance of a normal pregnancy than in the past - that much I know.
Avatar f tn how soon after a miscarriage does it take for your HCG levels to go back to normal? i had a miscarriage nearly 2 weeks ago. once the bleeding stopped we have been trying again. i have just done a test and it shows a faint positive???
655897 tn?1328018445 So right now its like I am having a miscarriage of one, but still pregnant with the other. I just want this one to be ok!
Avatar m tn Sorry to hear about the miscarriage and this cyst. Cysts can grow at different rates. If it is truly a dermoid, it will not go away on its own and will need to be surgically removed. Here is a website that may be helpful - http://ovaryresearch.com/ovarian_cysts.htm.
Avatar n tn I've heard of the heart beats and heart rates how many of you have exprienced this my babes heart beat today at the apt was at 185 ? I don't really know what the say the higher or lower ? About the gender ?
782720 tn?1236125785 If you read the literature, you will see studies showing an increased risk of miscarriage associated with low heart rates, but that has not been my experience. I hope you have another scan coming up soon, if the heart rate rises into the 160-170 range within the next few weeks, I bet you will do OK. I'm pulling for you! Good luck!
Avatar f tn I am a 3 1/2 year survivor myself. Unfortunately, we have not been able to have children. After my right ovary and tube were removed, I had one miscarriage and then an ectopic pregnancy in my only good tube. Our only chances of pregnancy are through IVF, and we're still paying the medical bills from my cancer surgeries. I'm glad to hear you have a child. That's hope for me! How old were you when it was diagnosed?
Avatar f tn Tbh your never in the clear you just have a better chance of the baby living after the first trimester but stress can ruin all that if you have a risky pregnancy due to a miscarriage. Just eat healthy drink tons of water and go for short walks on cool days as a form of minor exercise dont over due it and dont get over heated. The days are getting cooler noe do you shouldnt have that problem.
Avatar f tn The risk is said to be that if the baby implants on the uterine septum (if you have one), it might not get a good blood supply and you would lose the pregnancy. But the jury is still out on how much the uterus' shape affects the rate of pregnancy loss.
Avatar f tn I had a septum in my uterus, and carried my son to full term. Later after a miscarriage, I had a D&C and they removed the septum. My son just pushed the septum aside as he grew. But the reasoning for removing the septum is that it has poor blood supply, and if an embryo implants on it, the embryo might not get enough blood and the pregnancy fail.
Avatar f tn It has been linked to higher miscarriage rates, as well as increased risk of pre-eclampsia, gestational diabetes and preterm birth. Doesn't mean any of these will be a problem for you, you just have a slightly higher risk. I was very depleted of vitamin D when I had my miscarriage, not sure if that's what contributed, but I took a supplement to boost it before this pregnancy and I'm fairly high now, so supplements seem to work well.
Avatar n tn According to the myth, anything over 140 BPM is supposed to predict a girl, since females tend to have a faster resting heart rate. But it's not considered a reliable indicator of gender, since heart rates vary depending on what the baby is doing and how it feels. On average, fetal heart rates of both genders are lower in the the first trimester and average 120-160 BPM after that.
Avatar f tn I am so sorry your going through this. First off, please let me assure you that you did nothing wrong. This is much more common then I think most women realize. In first trimester miscarriage there is rarely anything you can do to prevent or cause it. Some women have signs and symptoms, others none at all when they get the news through ultrasound.
Avatar n tn I have had one missed miscarriage where I lost the baby at about 8 weeks in Nov 2008, a chemical pregnancy that resulted in a natural miscarriage at 5 weeks 2days in Jan 2009. I am pregnant again. This time my quant was neg. for pregnancy at day 31 since LMP, after not getting a period I went back to get another blood test at day 39 LMP, my quant was 64, then 48 hours later it was 201, then 4 days later 1798.
Avatar n tn It may be negligence on your dr's part...but it would be so hard to prove because drs are putting the rates of miscarriage in the first 12 weeks at close to 50% I'm so sorry you're going through this and hoe your next jelly sticks.
