Miscarriage rates ivf

Common Questions and Answers about Miscarriage rates ivf

miscarriage

1422850 tn?1307364413 I think this is a difficult question to answer since so many factors affect success rates. My first fresh IVF cycle was successful - maybe because I am in good health and my husband and I have no known reason for our fertility struggle. I know every clinic states their success rates, but you have to ask your RE for your individual chances. We were given a 50-60% chance given my age (35) and health.
Avatar m tn Your initial visit, he/she will likely take a history of both of you, written questionaire. He may have even sent this to you by mail ahead of time. My RE did this history on both of us, then he ran over all of our options and what they would supposedly achieve. I consider us lucky because our RE was honest enough with us to day, unless you have a perfect cycle, everything is aligned, all the fertility meds in the world won't help.
Avatar m tn But once you have IVF, the statistics are the same for miscarriage. One in four pregnancies will result in miscarriage no matter the means of conception.
Avatar f tn I used to think that fresh transfers worked better, but that turned out to be the exact opposite for me. I started out with 21 embryos. 3 were to be transferred and the remaining 17 were frozen. My first IVF in 2005 of 3 fresh embryos: NOTHING happened. No positive test, no hcg numbers, nothing. My 2nd IVF in 2006 of 4 frozen embryos: 1 baby boy!!! My 3rd IVF in 2008 of 3 frozen embryos: 2 faint positive home tests and a low hCG positive.

1129232 tn?1360800358 Those that have had IVF - did any of you have it for unexplained secondary infertility? If so, did it work? I was curious about success rates for those that have had a baby easily first time around but are struggling the 2nd time around... thanks!
Avatar f tn All kinds of numbers and miscarriage rates are running around out there after a heart beat is seen, I have seen from 5 to 10% quoted. It sounds like you are doing all the right things and things are going great. Hope this helps, not sure there is an answer.
Avatar f tn There is some data suggesting that implantation rates are lower with IVF; and miscarriage rates are higher for women with MTHFR. So, it is one of the things that REs like to treat prophyllactically. Biochemically speaking, the Folic acid theory is sound, and extra folic acid is unlikely to cause problems. Aspirin at that dosage is unlikely to "hurt" either.
215752 tn?1278004771 Girls what are the chances that ivf works the very first time. Do you know anyone who got pregnant on their first try? I don't have insur. and i cannot afford more than one cycle on ivf, but i have heard that most of the time it doesn't work with the first try.
Avatar n tn It is highly unlikely that either IVF or IUI will work at age 46. Regarding IVF, I am aware of three studies looking at IVF in women of advanced reproductive age. One, from Cornell, showed a 3.1% live born rate in 45 year olds with IVF, and 3/4 of all positive beta-HCGs end in miscarriage. There were no pregnancies beyond age 45. Two other studies, one from the UK and one from Israel, showed even more discouraging results - 0% pregnancy rates in women aged 44 and older.
Avatar f tn Hi! I don't think that the answer to your question is known for sure. There is some evidence to suggest that surgery to "clean up" endometriosis increases conception rates and reduces miscarriage rates. There are also some studies that show no benefit. I don't think that surgery would harm your chances for success, I'm just not sure that it would help. One question that I have for you is have you looked into the possibility of a "risk sharing" program.
Avatar n tn The aim of this study was to verify whether anti-thyroid antibodies are present in the follicular milieu of euthyroid infertile women with thyroid autoimmunity undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF) and whether IVF outcome is different in affected women with respect to negative controls. A secondary endpoint was to check whether there are changes in thyroid hormone levels during the IVF cycle.
Avatar f tn OK, I actually work with medical literature and used a pubmed library to research the effect of acupuncture on ivf success rates. Here's an abstract from a recent publication: A matched controlled study to evaluate the efficacy of acupuncture for improving pregnancy rates following in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer. Wang W, Check JH, Liss JR, Choe JK.
Avatar f tn Along with Clomiphene lifestyle modifications like weight control, exercise are very important to improve the success rates of Clomiphene.Tamoxifen and gonadotropins are other drugs which can help women with PCOS to get pregnant. The pregnancy rate is about 15 per cent in patients with PCOD taking Clomiphene, but success depends on the length of treatment and other factors, such as whether you are overweight. It varies woman to woman.
Avatar m tn If you do a search for Natural Cycle IVF you may find more clinics, if they do natural IVF, they usually do mini and regular IVF as well. Good Luck.
Avatar n tn You have probably heard about using the eggs of a younger woman? The success rates for donor ivf are really high, although the process is very expensive. I'm 45, almost 46, newly married, no childen, and did conceive naturally last April. My Reproductive Endocrinologist was very surprised and monitoried my blood levels weekly. We saw a heart beat at 6 weeks, which in a younger woman would have meant a 90% chance of the pregnancy succeeding.
Avatar f tn I don't understand why you wouldn't be a candidate for IVF if the dr thinks IUI would work. IVF success rates are higher than IUI. Did they give you a reason?
Avatar f tn Your chances will depend on the clinic that you use. All the IVF clinics report their numbers (their success rates) to their professional association, so you could certainly rank various clinics if you felt like it. In my case, I just went to the best clinic in our area. They have an association with a particular donor agency, but would have used someone else if I'd had a different donor. Good luck with your jouney!
481668 tn?1208316367 Some clinics also offer packaged deals, like $25K for 2 fresh ivf cycles with all FETs that come out of those fresh cycles, etc. I know that ivf is difficult to afford but if you shop around you can bring that price tag down. An alternative is of course to find an employer with better health coverage. Good luck to you!
Avatar f tn opps. sorry its cdc.gov! here is the link to the IVF page.. you'll have to click on the page that will have the statistics for each state and then clinic http://www.cdc.gov/art/ART2006/index.htm they are always a few years behind since it takes so long to collect and put together the data.. GOOD LUCK!
Avatar f tn 15-20% per cycle for IUI, 50-60% for IVF.
Avatar n tn Unfortunately, miscarriages do happen to approx one out of five pregnancies, whether or not they occur naturally or as a result of IVF or other fertility treatment. Thus, chances of a second miscarriage are in the 20% range. If you have good quality frozen embryos, you might want to consider that route, or another fresh cycle. I am very optimistic that your chances for a healthy pregnancy are good, based on your age and your response during your IVF cycle in the past. Good luck!
