1129232 tn?1360800358 Those that have had IVF - did any of you have it for unexplained secondary infertility? If so, did it work? I was curious about success rates for those that have had a baby easily first time around but are struggling the 2nd time around... thanks!
215752 tn?1278004771 ivf success rates depend on your age, embryo quality and reasons for infertility. Probability of success does not increase with the number of cycles. Note that ivf increases your chances of getting pregnant but does not affect m/c unless you do preimplantation genetic testing for trisomies that may lead to m/c. Since ivf does not really solve the problem of m/c I am not sure why you want to pursue it. Did they ever tested you to figure out what caused your devastating losses?
481668 tn?1208316367 I know how difficult it is to pay for ivf and I can certainly relate to your struggles.
1422850 tn?1307364413 I researched this on the internet, and it said that it takes an average of 4 tries for IVF to work... I guess that's why there are so many refund programs out there. Hope this helps!
Avatar n tn Im awaiting my consultation for IVF, has anyone had successful IVF in this case as anything I read the percentage of IVF success rates are not good.
Avatar m tn Hi ladies :) Have read this forum forever and never joined. So.. this is my first question .. You ladies always are so sweet and positive and I am looking for some of your experience in the RE dept :) I am 42 will be 43 in June, and TTC since last May. Had a early miscarriage in Sept, and have not been able to get pregnant since then. Before my miscarriage always got positives OPKs only cycle day 10. Since my miscarriage I have only got two positive OPKS.
Avatar m tn But once you have IVF, the statistics are the same for miscarriage. One in four pregnancies will result in miscarriage no matter the means of conception.
Avatar f tn Thawed Embryos From Non-Donor Oocytes <35 35-37 38-40 41-42 Number of transfers 50 27 16 4 Percentage of transfers resulting in live births 22.0 11.1 2 / 16 1 / 4 Average number of embryos transferred 1.9 2.1 2.
Avatar f tn They are right, enjoy the process. The text book answer for a miscarriage is 20% of all pregnancies, really it's about 35% when we consider known and unknown pregnancies. The majority of these being in the first trimester. The rate drops significantly with a heart beat and then achieving 10 weeks gestation. All kinds of numbers and miscarriage rates are running around out there after a heart beat is seen, I have seen from 5 to 10% quoted.
Avatar f tn There is some data suggesting that implantation rates are lower with IVF; and miscarriage rates are higher for women with MTHFR. So, it is one of the things that REs like to treat prophyllactically. Biochemically speaking, the Folic acid theory is sound, and extra folic acid is unlikely to cause problems. Aspirin at that dosage is unlikely to "hurt" either.
202380 tn?1267906966 hello,I would really like to share some experience with anybody who's been through ivf before..I'm 43 and .. contemplating about my next ivf in a couple of months as I would really like to try for #2 one more time.As much as I would like to avoid meds again,I 'm really running out of time and ivf does maximize one's chances.I t has been efficient for me so far but this would be my 5th ivf cycle so I'm feeling a little uneasy.Anybody who 's been on the same boat?
Avatar f tn Looking for other sertoli-leydig survivors out there. Curious of reoccurance rates and follow ups. I am almost a 4 year survivor and a proud mom of my one year old daughter!
Avatar n tn Thanks for responding. I am very sorry for your loss. It turns out my RE is willing to do IVF on me (partly because we have insurance coverage for IVF without donor eggs), but only if I understand the odds of success are very, very low. He said they would put all of the embryos in me no matter what quality, in the hope that one would work out. Personally, I would prefer using donor eggs, but we probably can't afford that option for at least a year.
374593 tn?1257879950 If you are planning to do IVF after surgery then I believe it is reasonable to be on Lupron before IVF treatment--but not for 6 months because it will delay fertility treatment. If you are not planning to do IVF, then immediate ovulation induction/IUI after surgery is probably better before the endometriosis returns. I think Femara is a great choice for ovulation induction for women with endometriosis. Of course, you should discuss this with your own infertility doctor.
Avatar f tn Hi! I don't think that the answer to your question is known for sure. There is some evidence to suggest that surgery to "clean up" endometriosis increases conception rates and reduces miscarriage rates. There are also some studies that show no benefit. I don't think that surgery would harm your chances for success, I'm just not sure that it would help. One question that I have for you is have you looked into the possibility of a "risk sharing" program.
Avatar n tn The aim of this study was to verify whether anti-thyroid antibodies are present in the follicular milieu of euthyroid infertile women with thyroid autoimmunity undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF) and whether IVF outcome is different in affected women with respect to negative controls. A secondary endpoint was to check whether there are changes in thyroid hormone levels during the IVF cycle.
Avatar f tn 5-day worked for me...but I also know of others on here who had a successful 3-day! Best of luck with your IVF!
Avatar n tn Dear mumto1 - I am sorry about your history. This is always a difficult problem. Has the testing that you had included a chromosome analysis (karyotype) of both you and your partner? Were you tested for lupus anticoagulant, anticardiolipin antibodies, Factor V Leiden, and other inherited hypercoagulable states? Tested for diabetes? I am sure from your explanation that you have.
Avatar f tn The clinical and ongoing (delivered pregnancy rates per transfer) for 32 women undergoing IVF-ET and acupuncture was 40.6% and 37.5%, respectively vs 53.1% and 43.7% for controls. The median number of previous failed IVF cycles was three. CONCLUSIONS: Acupuncture performed twice weekly during the follicular and luteal phase does not seem to improve pregnancy rates following IVF-ET. This study was published in Clinical and experimental obstetrics & gynecology journal.
Avatar n tn Then we went on to IVF (but with donor eggs I was 42 1/2 by then, and that worked for us). We would have done IVF too but we were tired of all the miscarriages I had (5 total) prior to the donor egg effort.
Avatar f tn The pregnancy rate is about 15 per cent in patients with PCOD taking Clomiphene, but success depends on the length of treatment and other factors, such as whether you are overweight. It varies woman to woman. Clomid is given usually for cycles and if not successful IVF is advised. Do clarify your doubts with the treating gynecologist. Write to us again and keep me posted. It is best to discuss it with your gynecologist about what method is best suitable for you. I sincerely hope it helps.
Avatar m tn If you do a search for Natural Cycle IVF you may find more clinics, if they do natural IVF, they usually do mini and regular IVF as well. Good Luck.
Avatar n tn You have probably heard about using the eggs of a younger woman? The success rates for donor ivf are really high, although the process is very expensive. I'm 45, almost 46, newly married, no childen, and did conceive naturally last April. My Reproductive Endocrinologist was very surprised and monitoried my blood levels weekly. We saw a heart beat at 6 weeks, which in a younger woman would have meant a 90% chance of the pregnancy succeeding.
