Common Questions and Answers about Miscarriage odds

miscarriage

Avatar f tn Hi I am 37 years old. I had a miscarriage due to a blighted ovum at 8 weeks on Sept. 11th. I found out a few weeks ago, that I was pregnant again. They got me right in for an ultrasound the next day due to my previous miscarriage. The saw a gestational sack and a yolk and assumed I was about 5 weeks along. I went in last week for a 2nd ultrasound. They measured me at 5 weeks 4 days and there was a low heart rate of 92 bpm.
Avatar f tn I'm sorry you're going through this. Odds are this would have happened no matter what you were doing, even if you had been sitting at home, so never think you did something wrong.
Avatar f tn A miscarriage before does not increase odds of it happening again unless there is an actual medical reason why you miscarried first time. Unfortunately it is incredibly common but at your age the odds are in your favour. Stress does play a major part but try and relax and enjoy the pregnancy.
Avatar f tn t able to get pregnant after 5yrs of trying... doc said it would never happen. 4W later I was pregnant which ended in miscarriage. 4W after that I was pregnant with my daughter who is now 5. And now I also have a 4w old Daugherty as well. Both my daughters I concived with first try.
Avatar n tn Should I try to conceive? What are my odds of another miscarriage do to a thin uterine lining? Are my odds of not miscarrying better if I wait 2 cycles? I want to be prego sooner than later, but at the same time don't want to set myself farther back, if I do get prego but miscarry due to the fact that it can't implant. I need guidance on what to do.
Avatar f tn I had first round of IUI in March after 3 years of infertility and ended up miscarrying at 7 weeks. What are the odds we will get pregnant again soon? I didnt get my first period post miscarriage for about 6 weeks; so thought about trying again next month (July). Need some encouragement.
Avatar n tn For any female, the risk of miscarriage in 1:5 One miscarriage alone doesn't increase those risks. Twin pregnancy does carry more risk, but we can't say your odds for sure. It depends really on why you miscarried before, the type of twins, how many weeks you were, family/medical history, etc.
Avatar f tn At 35 your odds of miscarriage are only slightly higher than a female who is younger. For example, a 20 year old has a 15% chance of miscarriage and a 35 year old has a miscarriage chance of 20%. It's not likely that smoking will have done much, if even any harm. It's wonderful that you quit, as it is best for your body and especially for the baby. If you have any other questions, never hesitate to post them and we'll do our best to help you out. Congratulations on your pregnancy!
Avatar f tn So it is an up hill battle to have a pregnancy that results in full term baby at 47. Your chance of miscarriage is high (about 75%) and the fact that you had a miscarriage already does in fact increase the risk. I ditto the comment about not waiting three months to try again after a miscarriage at 47. Time is not your friend. In fact Ipursue more aggresive effort at trying to conceive than just trying on your own. Don't waste precious months.

Avatar f tn Ive just been told I'm having a miscarriage, it as took me 7 years to get pregnant and the doctors gave me a 2 percent chance of ever getting pregnant naturally, yet I beat those odds. I've got crohns disease and pcos. how many periods till I can start trying gain? and did having a internal scan cause my miscarriage? I had bleeding on the sunday when the doctor checked my womb n it was still closed, then had the internal scan on the tuesday, then on the Wednesday I started bleeding.
Avatar f tn So I'm 13 weeks pregnant, my first pregnancy & many of my family have told me to not get too excited ; a lot can still happen because I'm still early in my pregnancy. And before I even knew I was pregnant I had a dream that I had a miscarriage. So with all of that it's starting to make me even more nervous and I had already spread the good news. Thoughts?
Avatar f tn It gives me abit of hope knowing you got such good odds, especially since I was given very little info :/ also very very scared constantly
Avatar n tn s too early to take a test yet (I believe even a blood test), but wondered if you could share some statistics with me about these three variables and my odds of being pregnant? I thought I might have been past the odds of getting pregnant even without the Essure given my age. Also, say the Essure failed.............since I have had the ablation would the pregnancy not 'take', or would I still be pregnant even with the ablation and possibly lose the pregnancy?
Avatar f tn ve heard you should wait at least one year to try and conceive again after having a miscarriage. The odds of having another miscarriage are more likely to happen. You really need to see your doctor.
Avatar f tn they said it could be to early or i could miscarry and that the odds rite now are 50/50. Has this happened to anyone this early ans everything was okay? Because they didnt seem very optimistic so im preparing for the worst.
Avatar f tn I am 5 weeks pregnant and previously had a miscarriage at 5weeks and 5days. I am petrified of it happening again being pregnant is suppost to be a happy time and all I am doing is stressing and worrying that it may happen again. Am I more likely to have another mc because I've already had one? Ur answer are greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn I had 5 miscarriages, then a successful full term pregnancy at 40. He is 7 months old now and healthy as can be. Remember that odds are just that...odds. The only way to know for certain is to try. Good luck!!
Avatar f tn Here is what my fertility dr told me about the odds of miscarrying. One in four pregnancies will end in a miscarriage. If you make it to 12 weeks the odds of a miscarriage go down to less than 1%. I have had 3 miscarriages and there's nothing you can really do to prevent them.
Avatar f tn I agree that it is a very personal decision. I can tell you that, for me, I had to make a similar choice. I'm 40yo and had a 1:400 chance of down's syndrome baby. I had to think about what I would do if I had an amnio and it came back positive. Would I abort my baby or keep it? I decided that I would keep my baby since those tests aren't fool proof and I would be too far along to be able to do that.
Avatar n tn Yes it is true that 1 and 8 pregnancies end in miscarriage... however keep in mind that statistically speaking the odds are in your favor because most women will only experience one miscarriage in their lives. After you hit 10 weeks the odds of you losing the baby drop drastically. And again drop after 12 weeks. And you're almost there already. I've been in your shoes so I know telling you not to worry probably wouldn't help.
Avatar f tn I went to the ER when I was almost 5 weeks pregnant and they couldn't even see a sac yet, let alone an embryo. They even did a vaginal ultrasound. It scared the hell out of my boyfriend and I, but now I'm 16 weeks along and baby is perfectly healthy. Don't worry, the doctors only tell you "threatened miscarriage" because they want to cover their ***** in case something goes wrong.
1640871 tn?1321673746 unfortunately seeing the hb does not rule out future m/c .. I heard the hb at 6, 7 and 9.5 weeks but had a missed miscarriage at 12 weeks .. the baby measured 10 weeks so that is when the heart had stopped beating .. the chances of m/c do go down after a hb has been detected, so the odds are better for you if this is your situation .. good luck!
1116010 tn?1280021252 Hello to all. I'm a new member with questions regarding low progesterone levels during pregnancy. I had two healthy pregnancies then a miscarriage. I'm pregnant again, but just tested with low prog. and have been put on progesterone supplements....Any encouraging words???? I'm worried about another miscarriage.....Thanks...
1064495 tn?1269816302 300. With my odds of having a child with an abnormality is 1:1300 I think I'll take these odds. Still nervous, however. My 19 week U/S is on 7/9/10 and they did say they may be able to detect a spina bifida but only if it's large....that's my biggest fear...not Down's....Down's we can deal with.....a child can still have quality of life...anyway, now I'm rambling. I guess my question is.....with numbers like mine....would you have the amnio? Thanks!
Avatar f tn 85 percent of women will have a successful pregnancy following a miscarriage. Those are pretty good odds!! And many women will only ever have one in their lives. I know the fear. I just miscarried a few weeks back and I feel my future is uncertain but I do know the odds are on our side! I will pray for you!
Avatar f tn The NT scan and blood work can give her an idea of her odds, but the blood test is also know for having false high odds for some women. And the amnio does carry a small risk of miscarriage. I'm 35 and I'm not having one done.
Avatar f tn I have 3 healthy baby boys and had one miscarriage im now prego again and I really hope I get my lil girl =/ what are the odds?
