688845 tn?1325182236 Scottish researchers looked at data for nearly 31,000 women who became pregnant after an initial miscarriage. Compared to women who conceived 6 to 12 months after their miscarriage, those who became pregnant again within 6 months were 34% less likely to miscarry a second time. They were also less likely to have an ectopic pregnancy, a cesarean or preterm delivery, or a low-birth-weight infant.
Avatar n tn Several things can cause miscarriage. Chromosomal abnormalities is a common cause. Also many women have issues with the immune system causing recurrent pregnancy losses. Hormonal issues can be the culprit (i.e. low progesterone). These are just a few of the causes. If you Google "miscarriage causes" you should be able to get some good information. The causes can vary depending on which trimester you are in.

Avatar f tn It's very to sad to hear about miscarriages...esp older women who are ready to have a family and want children. However, I have very little knowledge on this subject and want to learn more...like, are there real obvious reasons why miscarriages happen? I guess severe trauma like car accidents and falls are obvious reasons. I'm not talking about those. But is there another reason? Miscarriages happen at any age, I know that...but is there a real reason...stress?
Avatar f tn Implantation Bleeding. This is caused, in the very early stages of pregnancy, by the egg implanting itself into the wall of the uterus. Because it occurs around the same time as you might have had your period, this makes it hard to distinguish between the two causes. Hormonal or 'Breakthrough' Bleeding. You might expect your pregnancy hormones to overwhelm your normal hormonal cycle but this doesn't always happen.
Avatar n tn Rest assured that in the early weeks of pregnancy, a little spotting or bleeding is very common. For miscarriage there are other causes, better you consult your family doctor for exact cause.
Avatar f tn A chemical pregnancy is used to describe a very early miscarriage. There can be many causes but with these cases, very early miscarriages don't result in embryos or fetuses with a heartbeat. The fertilized egg may not implant well into the lining or it may even graze the lining just enough to get a positive test. These miscarriages occur around 4-5 weeks or so. Some women may not know that they have occurred.
1616538 tn?1304707284 Generally, it's not known what causes chemical pregnancies, early miscarriage, etc. What is known is that most women don't even know when they have an early miscarriage or cp because it happens SO early and it doesn't cause their cycle to be delayed or only by a day or 2. It's basically been chalked up to a chromosomal issue and usually doesn't indicate a long-term problem.
Avatar m tn Hello. I just had a miscarriage a few days ago. I'm 42 years old and never tried to carry a baby to term before. I've had a few abortions in the past, surgical and the kind where they give you a pill. This time I really wanted to have the baby. I was only about 19 to 20 days pregnant when I miscarried so it was very early. Since I'm a novice, I really don't know much about what causes miscarriages so I was wondering if anyone can help me understand this better.
Avatar f tn m a little concerned. I read that up to 50% of women that experience spotting have a miscarriage. Yikes, is that true? Spotting at 6 weeks seems abnormal to me. I'm working 2 jobs as a server and bartender while my husband is a full time student. I'm really fatigued and I know I am working too much. Other than that I'm eating healthy and getting in light exercise frequently. Any thoughts?
Avatar m tn It depends on the cause of the first miscarriage, but for most women the chance of a second miscarriage is actually LESS. I suffered a miscarriage in November 2011. I'm now 23 weeks pregnant! Good luck to you and your baby!
Avatar f tn We both lost a piece of us, not just me. I feel like he should know to, but I changed my number.
Avatar f tn I'm so sorry. There is no way to know for sure what causes miscarriage, but it's unlikely you did anything to cause it. Your baby would have taken what it needed from your body whether you were eating enough or not. Don't blame yourself.
Avatar n tn Typically there's nothing that can stop a miscarriage. 1/5 women experiance them, and it's normally due to chromosomal issues. More or less the fetus wouldn't survive outside the womb. You could ask if they could check your uterus and progesterone levels to see if all of that is fine. I'm surprised they're seeing you though. Normally you need to have had more. Maybe that's just where I live though.
Avatar m tn In that case you and your husband both may need evaluation .The common causes of infertility are blocked tubes, ovulation dysfunction, hyperprolactinemia, thyroid disorders, PID etc.Sperm motility disorders and decreased sperm count are male causes of infertility. Treatment will depend on the underlying cause. Hope it helps. Best luck and regards!
Avatar f tn Please I really wanna know if Endometriosis causes miscarriages Cos have had 2 angel babies now and reading about Endometriosis got me scared lately Cos I have extremely painful periods, excruciating abdominal pain during periods like my abdomen is about to pull out,I feel like something is moving in my lower abdomen during periods and most especially diarrhea during periods....Is it possible to have these symptoms during periods without Endometriosis??
5009178 tn?1369953775 My wic counsiler told me that there is no known research on caffeine intake with pregnant women but they ask you to cut down because of that simple fact.. they don't know what could happen. I've heard that babies can't digest it like we do also too.
Avatar f tn t noticed a missed period, but did have pregnancy symptoms of nausea, larger appetite, constipation and tender breasts. Could this mean that i experienced a miscarriage or is there another reason for this? I have been pregnant before two years ago where I had an abortion so this could mean stimulation could lead to milk production without pregnancy?
Avatar f tn You can NOT get your period while pregnant unless you have a bicornuate or double uterus. Some women do bleed while pregnant and mistake that for a period - a typical type of bleeding is implantation bleeding. Only 25% of women experience some form of bleeding while pregnant and only 50% of those go on to have a successful pregnancy. If you have reason to suspect you are pregnant, take a home pregnancy test - if negative, repeat in a week and go from there.
Avatar f tn Some women spot in early pregnancy (but not eveyone ) which is perfectly normal, Some might get the odd bit of brown bloody which is just your body getting rid of old blood, and others may bleed due to early signs of miscarriage, it all depends xx
Avatar f tn ve read, this can cause miscarriage in women with preterm labour issues or a weakened uterus. If its only to prevent infection that's one thing, but until you talk to them I wouldn't.
Avatar n tn I am not sure. What did your Dr. say? Were they looking for it on Doppler or ultrasound? I am honestly not sure at what point a doppler picks it up, but have heard many cases of women who haven't heard babies heartbeat till a bit further along. I would go by whatever your Dr. tells you at this point.
Avatar f tn I took an over the counter pregnancy test and it came back negative. Could I be having a miscarriage? What do you think is going on? I have had no changes in my life for the last year.
