After two years of moderate to severe cystic acne (but a lifetime of mild acne punctuated by spurts of cystic acne), I have noticed two things-While I'm in my late 30's, "hormonal" acne treatments etc. DON'T WORK and powerful anitbiotics work FAST & best. My most recent expereinces: using a sulfa based drug for non-skin infections has almost obliterated cystic acne in 4, yes 4 days!!!!!!
he said since i been taking minocycline 100 mg daily for 2 years and using the retin a micro 0.1% for 2 years and im still breaking out i should try something new like it may be wearing off....he put me on oracea 40mg once a day and differin gel 0.3%....i was reading the paper that comes with oracea~doxycycline and it says it doesnt kill bacteria now im getting worried because minocycline does kill bacteria now im worried i will break out more from the oracea.

The clinical trial that led to minocycline’s proved efficacy was conducted at the university’s Hotchkiss Brain Institute at the Cumming School of Medicine.

I have been on Minocycline for acne for well over a year. Usually I take 50mg twice a day, although for the last month have been on 75mg twice a day. If by some freak chance I had rectally contracted Gonorrhea or Chlamydia, would this antibiotic take care of it?
I was prescribed minocycline for my acne on the 21st of December and started taking it that day, found out on the 27th of January that I am pregnant with my first baby and I am driving myself crazy with worry! Everything I've read is telling me that minocycline is extremely bad to take while pregnant or becoming pregnant.

I have been on Zoloft for about 7 months now, after dealing with crippling anxiety and depression. this medicine really worked wonders! recently I was put on Minocycline for my chronic forehead and shoulder acne, and I was all for the idea of clear skin, whether I had to take pills or not. ever since, slowly but surely, my anxiety is making a reappearance, along with my depression, both of which I thought were long gone.
I have been reading that minocycline can cause black thyroid in some people and can take up to a year to reverse after stopping medication. it is given to teenagers for acne and my son was on it for 6 mths twice a day having severe headaches yet the dr ignored it until I googled and realized that it could be effecting his thyroid and causing the headaches since those were listed as symptoms and wondered if anyone else ran into that.....his thyroid test did come back 4.6 with the top normal of 4.
I have all of the symptoms, no money to get tested. I do have some old minocycline and tetracycline from old acne.

i was given this monocyline Hcl 100mg with cream which has this oleanolic acid formula.is this cream for acne scars or acne?or for both?i have been using both tablet and cream for 20 days.i didn't see much of the change in fadeness of scars or maybe it takes time.please let me know what is this cream exactly for.
Hi. I have been on minocycline since I was 21 (now 29) for acne. I recently went to a new family practice Dr. While I was there he noticed I was on mino and asked how long I'd been taking it. I told him my acne treatment history. He pointed out that my shines were green (look like bruises). He asked how long I'd had those "bruises". I replyed that they'd been there longer then normal. Months maybe.

A few months ago I visited my doctor to discuss options for decreasing the amount of acne I have, for a few various reasons. We decided to use a topical cream, for the more oily areas on my face, and for me to take a 100mg dosage of Apo-Minocycline two times a day (morning and night). This worked fantastic for a few months. Eventually, I developed this odd rash on one side of my neck.
I have switched shampoos, conditioners, laundry detergents, ance washes. I have tried 2 different oral natural herbs for acne. My old dermatologist put me on Minoclycline. Worked great! (Unfortunately, one of the side effects of the drug was discoloration of the teeth and mine started turning grey, so I had to stop taking it.) I have done accupuncture and the Dream Skin machine at my accupuncturists office. I have tried getting a little sun on it (in the privacy of my own home, of course).
I have been on Minocycline for coming up 9 years now and i'm currently down to one 50mg pill a day to control my acne, my question is what effects does it have on my cognitive ability and memory over such a long period of time.
s opinion on the effectiveness of Accutane on smaller acne heads. My acne is on my face, neck, back, and chest. There are not very many big acne heads (I have benzoyl peroxide5%, Differin 3%, and Minocyclin 100 mg twice a day). These medications play a big part in my not having many big zits.
Anyways, I have lots of little acne heads all over. How effective is Accutane at getting rid of these heads and keeping them off? (from your experience or from official sources)

I am not aware of any information that suggests that minocycline, or for that matter, any other antibiotic acts to either increase risk for HIV acquisition or would modify the performance of tests for HIV. Current tests for HIV look for antibodies. Antibody production in response to infection is not changed by antibiotics, menses or any of the other factors. The results of HIV antibody tests are to be believe.
hELLO I WAS JUST LOOKING OVER THIS SITE. i ALSO HAD CYSTIC ACNE FOR YEARS WHERE I WOULD GO IN AND THE DERM WOULD INJECT THEM. i DID ACUTANE TWICE I HAD TO STOP PART WAY THROUGH IT THE SECOND TIME.
nOT A GOOD DRUG TO BE ON. aNY WAY MY DERM HAS ME ON SPIRONOLACTONE 100MG ONCE A DAY IN THE MORNING. iT IS A DIARETIC. wELL IT HAD WORKED NOT ALL DOCTORS USE THIS . Before this i was on all kinds of antibiotics they would work for a while and then it would stop working.
A week later I developed an ulcer and swelling on the shaft of the penis. I take minocycline (antibiotic) for acne, but had not taken it for about one month. I started taking it a couple days after the sore and swelling appeared, and both subsided within 3 days.
It has been almost five weeks since my encounter. I have not had any fever or noticed any enlargement of my lymph nodes. I did have a sore throat for a couple days recently, but that passed.
