Common Questions and Answers about Minnesota living with heart failure questionnaire

heart

Avatar n tn When it is severe enough, this may lead to difficulty with the heart filling, and symptoms of heart failure. Reassuringly, however, your wife's echo report was read as "mild" diastolic dysfunction. While this does not typically cause patients symptoms, this is typically monitored by a cardiologist over time to assure it does not get worse. The most common cause of diastolic dysfunction is hypertension.
Avatar f tn I have Pulmonary Hypertension at first I was told PAH then I was told it was due to the left sided heart failure. Two weeks ago I was diagnosed with a pulmonary emboilism in my lower right lobe. I was told the right sided of my heart is larger. Could that make my Pulmonary pressures higher. I also recall that blood clots to the lung is a cause of Pulmonary Hypertension.

Avatar m tn Six years ago, I had an EF19 to 29% and that caused heart failure and today my heart is pumping normally. I had/have totally blocked LAD (collateral vessels developed to provide a natural bypass.) The RCA was 98% blocked and stented. My LCX is/was 72% blocked...no stent. Medication, exercise and diet improved my health. The Cleveland Clinic accepts medical records (fax, etc.) and provides a diagnoses. Also, the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota is well recognized health center as well.
Avatar f tn Last week the doctors did angio and told that there are no clots and his condition improves with time. My question is how much is he at risk for heart failure. I am very much worried about his health. No concrete information on EF is given. I just want to know is this disease reversible, if so how much time will take. How risky it is and what are the measures to be taken if he is breathless again. how to improve his EF with diet or small breathing exercise.
Avatar m tn Hello, I am 44 years old and have just recently been diagnosed with chronic renal failure. I've been dealing with very difficult to control hypertension for about 15 years. I have also been dealing with diabetes for about 5 years. Most of my doctors feel that my hypertension and diabetes are the cause of my kidney failure, however my nephrologist feels that defective kidneys due to heredity are the cause of my hypertension and perhaps my diabetes.
Avatar n tn It is difficult to predict the exact prognosis, as this depends on other co morbid conditions like diabetes and hypertension and the cause for the low ejection fraction values. Patients with heart failure have a 5-year mortality rate approaching 50 percent in some studies. Regards.
Avatar f tn Swain and coworkers evaluated 997 patients who achieved an SVR in trials that included treatment with peginterferon alfa-2a with or without ribavirin.[1] Patients were tested yearly by use of the Roche COBAS AMPLICOR HCV test v 2.0, with a reported sensitivity of 50 IU/mL. Over a median of 4.1 years of follow-up, only 8 individuals (0.8%) had evidence of recurrent infection.

Avatar f tn Normal EF is 55 to 75% and is the amount of blood pumped into circulation with each heartbeat. When the EF gets below 30%, that may indicate heart failure as that may not be enough blood/oxygen to meet the system's demand. This condition will cause shortness of breath, fatigue, etc. Many people live a productive life without much limitation in daily living with an EF in the 40's.

Avatar f tn Sinus tachycardia is caused by increased sympathetic nerve activity, and usually the reason is obvious, like anxiety, exercise, stress, infections, etc. However, sometimes the reason is more serious, like heart failure, intoxications, severe dehydration or heat stroke (to mention a few). Thyroid diseases (hyperthyroid) can also cause sinus tachycardia. In other words, sinus tachycardia is no disease or diagnosis, but it can be a sign of something more serious. But usually it's not.

Avatar m tn As far as surgical centers, the doctors I know with heart disease all went to Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota. Cleveland Clinic would be a closer option seeing as how you are on the east coast I assume. I am on the west coast so people go to Mayo for the complicated stuff. We refer to Oregon Health Sciences Univ. In portland Or with Slater or Song Mds for routine stuff. When I was in Cali, we sent the pediatric and strange stuff to Standford Univ.
Avatar f tn The hospital personnel put a breathing tube into her lungs, through her throat and in doing so, went too far and punched a hole in one of her lungs. The sac on the outside of the lungs filled with air, put too much pressure on her heart, causing her heart to go into heart attack and she died, for a short time. While they worked on her to bring her back, she suffered a massive stroke that took all long term memory away from her.
5826372 tn?1377468333 I am constantly dizzy because of the lack of circulation to my brain, my feet and hands are freezing at all times, and my heart is on overdrive trying to pump this blood to areas of my body but even with a heart rate of sometimes 170 this circulation seems to be almost impossible to achieve and if I thought I was dizzy normally, I don't know how I keep myself from passing out when I have these tachycardic episodes.
