How risky it is and what are the measures to be taken if he is breathless again. how to improve his EF with diet or small breathing exercise.
Avatar n tn When it is severe enough, this may lead to difficulty with the heart filling, and symptoms of heart failure. Reassuringly, however, your wife's echo report was read as "mild" diastolic dysfunction. While this does not typically cause patients symptoms, this is typically monitored by a cardiologist over time to assure it does not get worse. The most common cause of diastolic dysfunction is hypertension.
Avatar n tn I am 59 with heart failure and a defibrillator. Heart Failure was do to a heart attack and not underlying heart issues. I am stable and exercise regularly. Are there dangers of living at moderate altitude? We returned from 7000 feet in Colorado after one week. I was tired but am attempting to determine if there are actual risks and dangers as opposed to just feeling more tired (which even healthy people do at higher altitudes).
Avatar f tn I have Pulmonary Hypertension at first I was told PAH then I was told it was due to the left sided heart failure. I also recall that blood clots to the lung is a cause of Pulmonary Hypertension.

Avatar f tn Heart transplants are the last resort for people with severe heart failure. Patients so weak and breathless that they need a transplant have only about a 50 percent chance of living for another year without one, according to Dr. Mandeep Mehra, head of cardiology at the University of Maryland Medical Center. However, after a heart transplant, these patients have a 50-50 chance of living another 10 years. A man in Ohio is the longest survivor of a heart transplant — 28 years. Dr.

Avatar n tn Josie came over at ten thirty with a letter containing an appointment date and a massive psychiatric questionnaire for me to fill out. I started feeling ill, but tried to keep a straight face. We picked up dad and then I was left to go through the questions and panic on my own. Felt horrible, cried, called mom and she came home and I freaked out and then I calmed down and finished the questionnaire and felt a little better. Practised drawing. Played melodeon.

Medication, exercise and diet improved my health. The Cleveland Clinic accepts medical records (fax, etc.) and provides a diagnoses. Also, the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota is well recognized health center as well.

Avatar n tn Deb, My husband has congestive heart failure and also has had a quad by-pass in Feb of 96. We were told on October 22, '98 that he had to live with it. He has an ejection fraction of 20%. He is also diabetic and has been for the past 42 years. He is 59 years old. He like your mother had very labored breathing. He was in bed more times than he was not. When this doctor told us that he had to live with it, I didn't accept his remark.

Avatar n tn Is there any information available that provides the percentage of patients that develop heart failure following heart muscle damage? I understand that the amount of heart damage and retained functionality (as one variable) play a large role in determination of timeframe till heart failure may occur, so it is difficult to provide a value that has a high degree of accuracy. I also understand that new drugs (i.e.
