Avatar n tn Is this possibly a seizure or mini stroke? Should I have an EEG even though the episode is now over?
Avatar n tn 8), waiting results of other bloods, Age 40, exercise moderate. They said it may be a mini stroke so not to drive for month. Feel Ok since except shoulder feels like it has carried a heavy bag. Was back a work 2 days later altho long trains due to having to catch train. Will see consultant again in a couple of days. Could it be anything else. I don't them to say mini-stroke without considering any other cause.
Avatar f tn He has had 2 spells since where he was hospitalized, they did not know the first time if it was a mini stroke, on the second time they ruled out mini strokes and diagnosed him with seizures. He was put on seizure meds, the dosage has been changed 3 times. He seems to be doing well now. But he does nothing, he don't get dressed lots of days, he watches TV or sleeps. He was never like this before, he has been outside a couple of times, to ride the mower. Is this normal?
Avatar f tn Why were you put on Plavix in the beginning... for heart attack or stroke? Absolutely going off of it can lead to a mini-stroke/TIA, but going odd wont CAUSE one. Unfortunately you have to go off before a biopsy as it makes your blood thinner and there is too much risk of bleeding. Don't worry too much about the TIA, most have no long standing effects unless you have a LOT of them. So you want to go back on the Plavix and DON'T miss any doses! It should work right away.
Avatar n tn Hi I was wondering if the misdiagnosis of a TIA/Mini Stroke is possible. Recently I was at my friends house for a social gathering and I experienced what I thought at the time was a mini stroke. Symptoms appeared out of nowhere and included drooping of facial muscles on left side of face, slurring and difficulty forming sentences, chest pain, visual hallucinations (including but not limited to room breathing i.
Avatar f tn I recenly had a stroke, I now having spasm in my brain and they go down to my right side of neck ,arm , shoulder. The muscle do not contract , you can even see it,it feels like my head is on fire and wants to explode.
Avatar f tn m making a come back, yes there have been set backs, i returned last jan,09 for bone flap surgery which made a huge improvement in my quality of life, but recently i have has a mini stroke/ seizure which left me angry at the world, my recovery was coming along so well , i was even walking 50ft with no cane and now i'm having to get back to where i was, is this depressing yes, but it's a fact and there is no quick fix, and there are gonna be set backs but given his age and hopefully willp
Avatar f tn Unfortunately your additional information of being hospitalised after having a seizure, and your resulting visual, speech etc issues wouldn't typically match 'normal' ischaemic white matter lesions! There must be a lot more additional information on your MRI, and from your neurological assessment, cognitive assessment and other related test results IF the hospital dr's have diagnosed you of having had a small stroke.
Avatar m tn Sorry to read of your loss and the loss of a buddy to your remaining dog - this is one of the issues that troubles me when we talk about getting our dog a "brother or sister". The one experience I have with a stroke, diagnosed as a spinal stroke, was there was remaining paralysis. In this case it was a 10 year old large Golden Retriever. We got him back on his feet (rear was the problem and is a weak spot anyway in Goldens) using water therapy.
Avatar f tn Babygirl should seek medical attention. This sounds more like a Tia "mini stroke" than a seisure, but only medical experts can really tell. It's best to have it checked out.
Avatar f tn Okay, hello, I am a 22 year old male and I believe I suffered a TIA (Mini-Stroke) and am fighting to just get an appointment with a neurologist. On the 20th of April I was driving when I noticed sudden pins and needles. First in my nose, then my gums, then spreading down my body until my entire body was numb with pins and needles and I began shaking. I believed I was having a seizure so I fought to pull my car over and realized I could barely move at all.
Avatar f tn Whole body numbness that comes and goes can be due to a mini stroke or transient ischemic attack, compression of spinal up high up in cervical spine, Vit B12 deficiency, anemia, vaso-vagal attack, multiple sclerosis, hypothyroidism, diabetes and panic attack. It can also be a type of seizure. A comprehensive investigation is required keeping all the points in mind. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar n tn I also had headaches for 4 months and in January of this year 2012 I had a mini stroke and now I have some memory loss and I still get dizzy, headaches, and I am always tired. My eye sight also goes blurry once in a while. I have to go to neurologist on the 14th of this month (February). I hate this I wish it would get better. How are you feeling now.
Avatar f tn Although a stroke can manifest as a transient visual disturbance, that is relatively unusual. But something is going on, and you best have it checked out. Anything having to do with vision is VERY important. You cannot be turned down for medical assistance in the event of possible blindness because of financial reasons. If it happens? Good! Take them to court! (Just make sure that you sue for the cost of a chauffer).
Avatar f tn are ct scans any use at all and if it was mini stroke would it not have shown something.
Avatar m tn I am 78 and had a mini stroke 11 Jun 2014. I was placed in the hospital for overnight observation and was released the following day to my family doctor. I have high blood pressure so he placed me on Exforge 10-325-25mg HCT and also Clopidogrel 75mg In the hospital I had a MRA, MRI, CATSCAN, Chest Xray and several blood tests. I lost peripheral vision in the left eye. When I left the hospital I had this slight lump across from my left ear about 1 inch long pointing to the top of my head.
Avatar f tn Is it possible that without me realizing it that I may have had a mini stroke and not know it or am I over reacting? Since then my blood pressure has been 150/90.
Avatar n tn I'm glad your husband's BP is coming down. I am not a doctor, so I have no idea what could have happened. Maybe a mini-stroke? I just don't know, sorry. Was he on BP meds BEFORE this happened? What is he taking now? I'll keep him in my prayers...
14963801 tn?1437597355 Ok so here it is, I have had a trauma induced seizure disorder for 20 years or more I have had as a rule grandmal seizures when I've had them.it had Beenough almost 5 years without a seizure I had begun to think I had beeten it given seizures are a thing that your brain learns and remembers how to do since the neurologist said the longer without the less it remembers I felt I was on the up side of the disorder.
Avatar f tn //www.stroke.org/en/about-stroke/types-of-stroke/tia-transient-ischemic-attack It is a blockage that causes this and really important to treat. Let me know what you think or if there are any updates since you posted this.
699912 tn?1235667950 I have had MRI to see about mini stroke lately because of symptoms I had undergone a year and a half ago that lasted 6 months after a seizure. The mri was negative. They told me I have to have a eeg monitoring video that lasts 2 days without being on seizure meds in hopes I have seizures to find out where exactly they are coming from before they can operate. I am glad your fiance's surgery went well and was a success!! Thank you!
1618588 tn?1298861017 This could be a generalized tonic clonic seizure with the aura and post ictal phase. This also needs transient ischemic attack or mini stroke due to brief cessation of blood supply to the brain due to a blood clot, embolus or vascular spasm. Consult a neurologist who would do a detailed systemic examination and investigations like MRI brain, ultrasound neck, and echocardiogram heart. An electroencephalogram to check for seizure activity is also indicated. Take care.
Avatar f tn My Mother was recently diagnosed as probably having had a mini stroke or something similar. What would something similar be? Also, could a situation that caused a person to panic cause a stroke?
