Mini stroke pregnancy

Common Questions and Answers about Mini stroke pregnancy

stroke

Avatar n tn Dear Blessed: I am sorry that you have had a stroke. Hos is the pregnancy? I hope that it is still going well. Pregnancy can cause a hypercoagulable state, and that can lead to stroke. Although the thalamus is not the most common site, more so in hypertensive stroke. Although you might not have hypertension, you might have had an episode that caused this stroke (unknown). Did they say that your talamic stroke was hemorrhagic or ischemic?
Avatar n tn I am 34 and had a stroke during my 25th week of my pregnancy. I had AVMs. I had my first stroke at 25 also by an AVM. I was told by my neurosurgeon it was ok to get pregnant but I don't think any human can predict if its safe to have children if you had a previous stroke. Now the doctors say its up to me if I want to try again. They just don't know. I am in the same boat wanting to know if their are others out their that had an ok pregnancy after a stroke.
Avatar n tn I have 1 son who is 3 and we are wondering about another pregnancy. I'm terrified! My neurologist and obgyn say it would be low risk for another mini stroke. I feel I was probably "no risk" this time last year but it happened. We cannot make a decision about another baby. I guess we want a sibling for our son, but I feel I will never be brave enough to have another pregnancy. I just cannot think about something happening during a pregnancy and leaving my son without his mom.
Avatar n tn Hi there! I too am a young stroke survivor with left side weakness. The arm and hand are very frustrating, aren't they? Thankfully,I had my 2 daughters before my stroke, but my youngest was only 13 months when it happened. It took awhile for her to get used to me, but with some practice I eventually was able to change diapers, bathe the girls, and now 2 1/2 years later with some more progress under my belt, I can carry my 3 year-old to bed or short distances if I need to.
Avatar n tn hi i had tia or mini stroke july 5. my speech were slurred and vision blurry. i have recovered well except my speech is somewhat off. my doctor said i will be on coumadin for six months. he started me out with a high dose but not i'm down to 2mg. i just try to be careful and know that if anything else happen that its in our heavenly Fathers hand.
Avatar n tn Not knowing why my vertebrals were dissected in the first place is what is so hard. My neurologist says that my stroke had nothing to due with pregnancy and hormones (my son was almost two at the time it happened)....so she basically said that is a decision that we have to make. She said that the stroke had nothing to do with that so she couldn't say do not have kids because of it. My OB referred me to a neonatologist....not sure if that is the right word right now...
580765 tn?1274922960 I went off of them when another neuro told me that my first episode was not the mini stroke that they once thought. However, I have never had a racing heat episode while on a blood thinner. * Could it be that thinner blood helps the heart compensate better for an electrical issue? I was quite surprised to hear that my issues from the past 8 years were heart related, but relieved to hear that they were not neurological in nature. I will be following up with a cardiologist in the future.
Avatar f tn Dear", Some risk factors for stroke apply only to women, including pregnancy, childbirth and menopause. These risk factors are tied to hormonal fluctuations, changes in blood volume, tendency to form blood clots, and other physical changes that affect a woman in different stages of life." Go through this link for some more info http://www.healthywomen.org/healthtopics/stroke You need to be closely observed . Follow up your neurologist regularly. Take care .
151668 tn?1239924705 After spending almost 6 hours at two different doctors offices yesterday, they finally ruled out a mini stroke (TIA). I am told that I simply had a migraine, even though I didn't have a "severe" headache to go with the loss of eyesight. Apparently, migraines come in different forms, which I had no idea. I did have a dull headache afterwards for a few hours, but had no clue that it was a migraine. Either way, I'm just glad it wasn't a stroke of some sort. Too scary!
Avatar f tn Dont grow in last 4 yers, and dont efect my cemicals or hormons. I am pregnant now. When i was diagnost i have simptoms of mini stroke. Then I take MRI,and doct.told me it's tumor. Before that i had 3 kids in tree yers no complications. Is it any risk for me. After that I had 3 miskarg. because or probobly i didnt know that my Vitamin d is low. Avatar f tn should i not have a stroke? doctors think My mom had a mini stroke at age 45, my grandmother on my moms side had diabetes and two heart attacks..last one killed her. My dad had a two heart attacks in his 50's, survived both. all are smokers and obese. My sister had healthy no complications in her pregnancy. I badly want a Baby buy if i can't get an MRI/MRA to rule out brain issues i don't think my fear will subside enough.
Avatar n tn I had a stroke at 35 - young people definitely can get them. Also, pregnancy can cause the blood to clot so it can be considered a risk factor. The dr can put you on some type of blood thinner. A TIA is VERY serious.
Avatar f tn i live in ontario, canada If i rule out AVM or any other brain disorder, blood issues and my cholesterol and blood pressure stays fine through pregnancy and i got no other disease. should i not have a stroke? doctors think My mom had a mini stroke at age 45, my grandmother on my moms side had diabetes and two heart attacks..last one killed her. My dad had a two heart attacks in his 50's, survived both. all are smokers and obese. My sister had healthy no complications in her pregnancy.
Avatar f tn im going to be soo paranoied, my mom and sister had pretty healthy pregnancies. But at age 45 my mother had a mini stroke and my dad had a massive heart attack six years ago and now today he is back in hospital they think he had small heart attack:( will this increase my chance? im a preemie too, was born at 24 1/2 weeks so i worry i have a secret AVM and pregnancy will cause it to burst!!!!!!
Avatar f tn I am on baby asprin because I had a mini stroke when I was 28. The doctor told me its safe to remain on it until 34 to 36 weeks then they will have me.
Avatar n tn Here now 6 years later my husband and I are wanting to have another child. I am worried about the pregnancy and the chance of having another mini or full blown stroke. Has anyone suffered any kind of stroke during pregnancy and had a second child? Did the dr. put you on blood thinners? What precautions did you need to take. Was the pregnancy a normal one or were there complications again. Please help. I am so anxious to have another child! Thanks.
Avatar n tn my period finally became normal andfor aybe the past four months i've been feeling sick i've taken pregnancy tests all came up negative.
Avatar f tn (I was not diagnosed with pre-eclampsia), but after after giving birth, I suffered numerous head jerking, tongue biting, loss of conciousness seizures, and was diagnosed with Eclampsia. After that, after the MRIs, CAT scans, and everything else, they said I had a mini-stroke and Leukoencepholopathy (possibly reversible). I was put on Dilantin. I had an allergic reaction, so they put me on Depakote. I was unable to drive for 6-12 months.
Avatar n tn Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions or comments? This is my third pregnancy and I am 38. My last child was born almost eight years ago and this one was unplanned. I was taking Orthotricyclen when I got pregnant and took it daily up until I found out I was pregnant, basically at 5 1/2 weeks.
Avatar n tn So, it is also possible you could be receiving a positive result due to the Ovidrel shot, not due to pregnancy. Wishing you the best of luck.......I am rooting for you!!!
Avatar m tn Six weeks after my first son was delivered, I had a terrible pain in my neck combined with a loss of my left visual field, the hospital confirmed that I had a 5cm occipital bleed and classed it as a mini stroke. I have undergone various tests over the past year and a half, and they cannot find a cause for the bleed, so are inclined to say it was the pregnancy. I am currently pregnant with my second (and last!
Avatar n tn I checked for normal cycle using basal thermometer, and it's still the same pattern as in my 30's. I can't take pills (migraines + stroke family history) or use IUD (abnormal bleeding). I'm presently using a combination of condoms and timing. We dislike the condoms! My questions: How likely is it that I would really become pregnant at this age? Wouldn't tubal ligation be killing a mouse with an atom bomb? What would you suggest for contraception? Thanks!
Avatar n tn I heard that CM increases with pregnancy.....I don't remember getting this with my son in my early pregnancy, but then again that was 10 years ago. I was pregnant in the spring and miscarried, but I am pretty sure I had extra CM at first. Who knows....good luck, maybe this is it for both of us. Let me know your results.
Avatar f tn Other possibility is head injury or a mini stroke. Very high or very low blood pressure too could be a cause. Since a confirmed diagnosis is not possible on net, please get this investigated immediately. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history.
210400 tn?1325384170 The doctor gave me a prescription for vicodin to try to get rid of the headache but she also wants an MRI done this week to make sure that I didn't have a mini stroke or a blood clot. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all is well.
Avatar n tn I was seeing a neurologist for severe migraines and a mini-stroke. When they ran a bunch of blood work. that's when they found out about the blood clotting and took me off of BCP and the cysts began. My current gyn has put me on a progesterone only pill hoping this will regulate some of the cysts. Unfort. it has not.
Avatar f tn I agree could be your BP, sounds like mini stroke symptoms too, which again could be BP related or heart related. I strongly suggested going in to the ER as soon as it happens or you feel it coming on. Good luck, keep us posted.
Avatar m tn Some individuals are prescribed blood thinner if they have a history of blood clot, or a stroke or TIA/“mini stroke” which was believed to be cause by small blood clots. I recommend that you ask you medical provider to explain the reason for you being on a blood thinner. Thank you, Debbie -- Debbie Hennerich, MS, RN Genetic Counselor Kimball Genetics, Inc.
