Avatar f tn I believe that the greatest risk is your likelihood of a full blown stroke, which of course can be life threatening. A TIA (mini stroke) is usually considered a warning sign by Doctors that something needs to be addressed. I assume they have given you medication to help lower the risk of a clot forming? such as aspirin?
6359965 tn?1393488636 I had a mini stroke behind my right eye now I have a headache all the time is this normal?I had a carotid endarterectomy on the right side of my neck dec 20th 2013 ,Feb 18 2014 started having problems with my right eye.I went to the eye dr and he sent me to my dr that did the carotid endarterectomy and he said it was a mini stroke.I have like a gray fog over my eye all the time and like northern lights in the corner. My head hurts bad sometimes and I get nauseated.
Avatar f tn Although a stroke can manifest as a transient visual disturbance, that is relatively unusual. But something is going on, and you best have it checked out. Anything having to do with vision is VERY important. You cannot be turned down for medical assistance in the event of possible blindness because of financial reasons. If it happens? Good! Take them to court! (Just make sure that you sue for the cost of a chauffer).
Avatar m tn I am 78 and had a mini stroke 11 Jun 2014. I was placed in the hospital for overnight observation and was released the following day to my family doctor. I have high blood pressure so he placed me on Exforge 10-325-25mg HCT and also Clopidogrel 75mg In the hospital I had a MRA, MRI, CATSCAN, Chest Xray and several blood tests. I lost peripheral vision in the left eye. When I left the hospital I had this slight lump across from my left ear about 1 inch long pointing to the top of my head.
Avatar f tn Is it possible that without me realizing it that I may have had a mini stroke and not know it or am I over reacting? Since then my blood pressure has been 150/90.
Avatar m tn No warning whatsoever. With my heart attacks or mini stroke. Especially with the mini stroke. I was watching TV one evening and all of a sudden the vision in my right eye went. In an instant I could only see the bottom of everything with my right eye.
Avatar n tn I'm glad your husband's BP is coming down. I am not a doctor, so I have no idea what could have happened. Maybe a mini-stroke? I just don't know, sorry. Was he on BP meds BEFORE this happened? What is he taking now? I'll keep him in my prayers...
1698676 tn?1306857829 Hi Welcome to the MedHelp forum! I am sorry to hear about your father. Either he suffered another mini stroke or he is still reeling from the previous stroke. It can also be post stroke Alzheimer's pr Parkinson's disease. Another possibility is restless leg syndrome. I suggest you re-consult his neurologist and get this assessed. He may need an adjustment in the medication and further tests to diagnose the cause. A MRI should be done. Take care!
Avatar n tn I have undergone 2 ablation surgeries that were both unsuccessful and have since been put on medication, sotalol, which has kept my heart in rhythm and i have experienced no problems since being put on this medication. It has been about 2 years since my last ablation surgery and my doctor has lowered my dosage of sotalol from 80mg twice a day to 40mg twice a day and have shown no negative effects.

Avatar f tn My Mother was recently diagnosed as probably having had a mini stroke or something similar. What would something similar be? Also, could a situation that caused a person to panic cause a stroke?
Avatar n tn Now im kind of worried that I had a mini stroke. I was not able to make a complete sentence at all and my head was in severee pain. Am I worrying to much and just had a panic attack that was so intense it messed up my motor skills, or did something else happen?
Avatar f tn m making a come back, yes there have been set backs, i returned last jan,09 for bone flap surgery which made a huge improvement in my quality of life, but recently i have has a mini stroke/ seizure which left me angry at the world, my recovery was coming along so well , i was even walking 50ft with no cane and now i'm having to get back to where i was, is this depressing yes, but it's a fact and there is no quick fix, and there are gonna be set backs but given his age and hopefully willp
Avatar n tn There are a few theories to what happens to the brain during surgery but one that many accept is the mini mini stroke. When vessels are clamped, tiny pieces of plaque probably break free and end up in the brain cause very tiny strokes. One thing I have to ask is if you are on statin medication? Some patients have been reported to have memory problems from this, for example, one Doctor wrote of a patient who was an accountant and lost the ability to do math.
Avatar n tn Five weeks later my husband had a TIA (mini-stroke) and was hospitalized 2 days for testing. His Echo at the hospital showed his EI was between 50-55. Is it possible that a heart cath could have something to do with a blood clot that would have dislodged weeks after the procedure?
Avatar n tn Sometimes a piece of clotting material can be lodged free from inside the heart when it works hard, of course causing risk of stroke. I am relieved it was only a mini stroke but they should investigate this much further.
Avatar n tn My doc said I had had a mini stroke!
Avatar n tn ve had same problem for 16 yrs this week I had and echo with bubble done on my heart they found a hole in my heart which is normal in 25 percent of population but for me the pfo or hole in my heart causes tia or mini stroke there is a procedure that can fix hole but not approved by fda so not approved
Avatar n tn Hello dear, You probably had a Transient Ischaemic Attack or a mini stroke caused by the temporary disturbance of blood supply to a restricted area of the brain, resulting in brief neurologic dysfunction that usually persists for less than 24 hours. The most frequent symptoms include temporary loss of vision ; difficulty speaking (aphasia); weakness on one side of the body (hemiparesis); and numbness or tingling (paresthesia), usually on one side of the body.
Avatar m tn I was told it was a possible mini stroke. Then an MRI was done and was told I have multiple infarctions on the brain moreso on the right than the left. It states that I have chronic microvascular disease of the brain and am to see a neurologist this week to determin if it actually was a mini stroke. I am also told I have post concussive syndrome, causing my dizziness and fatigue. Can the impact of the accident cause a mini stroke if I have microvascular disease?
Avatar m tn Do others suggest TIA, stroke or Bell's palsy as the cause? Have there been any tests on which some of the doctors are basing their myasthenia gravis diagnosis on? From what I can see, myasthenia gravis is a problem with the immune system producing anti-bodies that attack one's own body, but with your father's history of stroke, I wonder if he couldn't have suffered a kind of mini-stroke?
Avatar f tn Hi, this could be mini stroke or raised intracranial pressure; both have similar kind of presentation. What is your age and are you hypertensive or diabetic? Please consult doctor and get MRI done and do check your blood pressure. For more information regarding TIA or mini stroke visit http://en.wikipedia.
