1474856 tn?1288292649 Transient Ischemic Attack Symptoms can include: numbness or weakness in the face, arm, or leg, especially on one side of the body; confusion or difficulty in talking or understanding speech; trouble seeing in one or both eyes; and difficulty with walking, dizziness, or loss of balance and coordination. I have this all the time, but the Dr's just keep saying it is just migraine.
Avatar f tn Thank you for responding to my question. I talked with another doctor on Justanswer and apparently my stroke was a "mini stroke" or TIA. It wasn't as deep in the brain as yours was so it didn't cause any problems. They still didnn't say why I have the dizziness though. So I guess I'll just have to learn to live with it.. Thanks for the tip about the stomach muscles --I;ll be trying it. Hope things have gotten better for you .
Avatar n tn I am not a doctor, so I have no idea what could have happened. Maybe a mini-stroke? I just don't know, sorry. Was he on BP meds BEFORE this happened? What is he taking now? I'll keep him in my prayers...
Avatar n tn If it was a TIA, it would be a mini-stroke which is often a warning sign that you may be headed for a larger stroke. Only your doctor could check for that. I'm not sure which tests they would do. I know they can look into your eyes to check for pinpoint hemorrhages. Since you're on Warfarin, do you have your blood checked regularly (your INR)? That should be monitored too so your blood is the right. . . . consistency I guess you'd call it. I lost the sight in one eye a couple years ago.
Avatar n tn I read a article about migraines are related to strokes or that they do damage to the brain as would a stroke. Could you clear this up for me? It also stated that for people who get aura's on the onset of a migraine that is is actually a sign that the brain isn't getting enough oxygen. Is this just a theory? What are the signifigance of this info to people with migraines?
Avatar n tn To me it seemed like he was suffering mini-stroke that led to the stroke. I would like to know if there are neurologist that would help me by reviewing the MRI prior to the stroke to see if there was any indication that a stroke was in fact occuring. I will be willing to pay for your time....I cant afford a massive amount. He does have insurance and I can pay whatever might be accumulated. I want an out of state Noeurologist, so that there is no bias (Here in Ga.
Avatar n tn He was being treated by a neurologist at the time prior to his stroke. His symptoms included dizziness, nausea, bluured vision and severe headaches. They diagnosed him with just "vetigo".They perscribed him paxil and meclizine. (He recieved an MRI for his condition). Within the same year he suffered the stoke. (He was evaluated by this clinic for a year before the stroke) Was this a missed sign? To me it seemed like he was suffering mini-stroke that led to the stroke.
Avatar n tn He is on constant oxygen and has had a set back with pneumonia from apirating secretions. They put in a mini trach, and he is now home with me as bed ridden and with home health care and my care. I refused nursing home.
Avatar n tn I went to the PCP and Neurologist two days later and had an MRI 5 days later and they saw a stroke in the cerebellum and signs of a mini stroke that they classified as 'old'. I fortunately did not have ongoing loss of speech, or weakness in limbs etc...but have suffered from weird dizziness and electric shock feelings in my head. They seem to get better - but then get wrose again....Dr's are saying it is maybe anxiety --but is not. I have had anxiety before and these are different.
Avatar n tn My husband had 9 bypass in Jan. 99. Following surgery he had dizziness. He has repeatedly gone back to the heart doctors, who didn't know why he would be dizzy. He went to one neurologist, who said it was ear infection. Finally, he was told to get a second opinion with neurologist. They did a MRI on his brain which showed he had a mild stroke, which effects the part of his brain that controls balance. He has not had his follow-up appt.
Avatar n tn I cannot give you a clinical diagnosis over the internet, and the information you provide is limited. On its own dizziness with bilateral hand tingling is not very suggestive of a stroke and may be more realted to blood pressure, heart causes etc.
Avatar n tn Slurred speech , shallow breathing, heaviness in chest, burning in sinus cavity, extreme weakness thru out body, chills, dizziness/light headiness (feeling as if I am going to passout), all over body trembling, slight blurred vision, numbness in the lower back of the head and in face, tingling in left arm. Well after the doctor came in to see me he claimed this was a Panic Attack because all test came back normal he said. I know for a fact these are not panic attacks.
Avatar f tn She takes blood pressure meds. Does this sound like a mini stroke??
Avatar n tn THe high blood pressure in itself can cause similar symptoms. One thing that may be possible is a TIA or mini stroke like symptoms due to the high blood pressure which can manifest as dizziness , but usually accompanied by slurred speech, wekaness, sensory changes or vision problems. Take measures to watch your diet and check your BP at Wal Mart or local drug stores until you can get in to your physician.
Avatar n tn he did blood tests, which came back normal. I have a history of Stroke in my family, my Dad died of a Massive Stroke my Mother had a Stroke (AVM) that ruptured, she requires a lot of care. My sister, 3 years older had a MRI a couple of years ago, her Dr. told her she had a Sroke at some point. When this happened to me I thought maybe it was a Mini Stroke. I also went to a ENT to rule out Ears causing symptoms.
Avatar f tn Hey Udkas; I experienced several episodes of mini stroke like symptoms, starting in my twenties. In fact the Dr. told me at that time, that I was having symptoms of mini strokes. But I wasn't officially diagnosed. Anyway I have had ongoing symptoms, some the same, some new ones added every so often through the years. I'm getting checked for Sjrogens, but have also got alot of MS symptoms. I would just keep getting tested for things that the Dr. may think it is, until you find what it is.
Avatar n tn hi i had tia or mini stroke july 5. my speech were slurred and vision blurry. i have recovered well except my speech is somewhat off. my doctor said i will be on coumadin for six months. he started me out with a high dose but not i'm down to 2mg. i just try to be careful and know that if anything else happen that its in our heavenly Fathers hand.
Avatar n tn Last January, 2006, I had a mini stroke. I was 36 years old. I recovered quickly and there has been no side effects. I was taking birth control pills and so the dr.'s say that must be the cause. They can find no other reason for it. I now take 1 aspirin daily. I have 1 son who is 3 and we are wondering about another pregnancy. I'm terrified! My neurologist and obgyn say it would be low risk for another mini stroke. I feel I was probably "no risk" this time last year but it happened.
Avatar n tn The consensus is that between the heart stem that is wavy and has unique area that blood could sit (and shouldnt) and the issues with the blood and Histine - that I probably formed a build up or clot in the heart that broke off a small piece (MRI showed an older mini stroke in the Cerebellum as well) and then the rest of it broke loose and traveled as well (to the Cerebellum area) when I suffered the stroke that I knew about. I had no idea that I had previously had a mini stroke??
Avatar n tn Unlike everybody else here, I am the husband and my wife had a TIA (mini stroke) in June 2009. The reasons behind the stroke to this day have never been answered. The doctors initially tried every test (apart from the TEE - transesophogeal echocardiogram). No answers were found. The background of events behind the stroke are what we truly believe hold the answer to the event itself.
Avatar n tn My boyfriend is having weakness, dizziness, tiredness, and sometimes headaches. He's only 20, keep that in mind! He's searched everything and can't find the problem..He's already gone to the ER but not for these conditions, for rapid heart rate and the DR. gave him some beta-blocker metoprolol or something like that. This was all about 5 days ago, do you think that these symptoms were caused by the beta blocker or something else?
Avatar n tn I am a 26 year old female and about 6 months ago I started experiencing feelings of pressure in my head, dizziness, and inability to focus & concentrate on things...I also ALWAYS have a dull headache & sometimes my heart beats heavily and I have shortness of breath...I have even gone to the ER on two occassions for this. I had an MRI (everything was "fine")and bloodwork (everything was fine with that also). My Dr.
368646 tn?1208397487 Hi, Dr said I have a mini stroke. What symptoms do you have? The CT brain and ultrasound of the neck are showed normal. I don't know would they let me have a MRI or not because I have a pacemaker. They all brushed me off with the dizziness and complaint. They told me the pacemaker will prevent any cause of faint (anti faint). Until last week, the blackout caused the lost of control while I was driving. Now they're refering me to a neurologist. Take care.
Avatar n tn So, I have a brain MRI coming up, as they are 'wondering' if I had a TIA or mini stroke, I have already talked to a cardiologist, and we are also doing a corridid scan to see if there are any blockages...I am a very (used to be ) active 50 year old. What in the world? I am going to google Esophageal problems and see if that looks familiar...thanks for all the help! Stress? STRESS...don't ALL of us in America have stress?
