Avatar f tn Hi, it’s unlikely its stroke. It could be a bad dream. And everybody has these occasional stressful dreams. But if they occur repeatedly or are interfering with your sleep schedules, you can consult a sleep specialist. It could be a nightmare disorder. This can be assessed by a sleep questionnaire and therapy is based on the severity of symptoms. Best Regards.
Avatar m tn a neurological examination, CT scans (most often without contrast enhancements) or MRI scans, Doppler ultrasound, and arteriography. The diagnosis of stroke itself is clinical, with assistance from the imaging techniques. Imaging techniques also assist in determining the subtypes and cause of stroke. There is yet no commonly used blood test for the stroke diagnosis itself, though blood tests may be of help in finding out the likely cause of stroke.
Avatar f tn My question since the numbness, the buzzing the spasms the weakness, come and go could I be having mini strokes? I'm not doubting his diagnosis I'm just wondering because the numbness and the buzzing etc I can put up with but the word searching is scary because my mom has ALzheimers and my dad has had a stroke.
Avatar n tn I read a article about migraines are related to strokes or that they do damage to the brain as would a stroke. Could you clear this up for me? It also stated that for people who get aura's on the onset of a migraine that is is actually a sign that the brain isn't getting enough oxygen. Is this just a theory? What are the signifigance of this info to people with migraines?
Avatar f tn Hi I am a 54 year old woman who is pretty healthy, but suddenly started having problems I was sent to a neurologist as I was having sudden dizzy spells, or rather where my head was spinning with loss of vision, sometimes double vision or perhaps better described as blurred vision and the sensation of my body pulling to one side, these attacks would occur without warning and only last a few minutes , the worst attack was whilst driving where i got double vision and then I lost my sight altogethe
Avatar n tn I went to the PCP and Neurologist two days later and had an MRI 5 days later and they saw a stroke in the cerebellum and signs of a mini stroke that they classified as 'old'. I fortunately did not have ongoing loss of speech, or weakness in limbs etc...but have suffered from weird dizziness and electric shock feelings in my head. They seem to get better - but then get wrose again....Dr's are saying it is maybe anxiety --but is not. I have had anxiety before and these are different.
497841 tn?1487721727 My drs and I have been chasing various diagnosis for 2 years which could be ending. I have been having various symptoms for 2 years now. I first started with a severe headache that lasted 3 months. An MRI of the brain was performed and nothing significant really noted, except now, I know the minor notes in this report were actually more significant. I had a MRI of the spine and found several herniations in the cervical, thoracic and lumbar.
Avatar f tn hepatitis not otherwise specified (excludes viral hepatitis, B199 and acute hepatitis) Mystified by result. Had mini stroke within last week prior to finding out results at routine tests at Doctor's who sent me to hospital. History - family heart disease but ECG normal Doppler duplex scan carotid artery reveals >50% narrowing (stenosis) of carotid artery? Prior to that feeling fine. Have no idea whether these are isolated events or connected?
Avatar n tn You should have this checked out by a neurologist rather than try to guess the diagnosis yourself. Migraines, mini-strokes, anxiety, heart troubles are all possibilities and need to be looked at. Don't brush it off but have a qualified doctor take a look first.
Avatar m tn She IS still on Lamictal, taken twice a day, and Plavix with aspirin, etc. So I'm just not sure if she had a mini-stroke or another seizure. So that's my question - Did she have a mini-stroke or a seizure (today)? Any relevant info is greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn I cannot give you a clinical diagnosis over the internet, and the information you provide is limited. On its own dizziness with bilateral hand tingling is not very suggestive of a stroke and may be more realted to blood pressure, heart causes etc.
Avatar f tn Last night I awoke with numbness on my right side and mild nausea and was concerned that I could be having a mini stroke instead of a migraine. I searched online for symptoms of a stroke and they mirror those of a migraine. Is there a way to differentiate between the two? Obviously, I don't want to run to the hospital every time I have a migraine but I would also not want to dismiss a more serious condition.
Avatar m tn Hello Dear, Usually the diagnosis of stroke is done on MRI findings, which show either haemorrhagic or ischaemic lesions.Symptoms of a migraine may include sensitivity to light and sound, nausea, auras (loss of vision in one eye or tunnel vision), difficulty of speech and intense pain predominating on one side of the head and no brain lesions on MRI .
Avatar f tn My daughter had a stroke in her thalamus at age 17 and is still having headaches 2 years later... every day... any ideas for treatment or diagnosis??? Her doctor says that it is migraines and the two are not related. It seems like too much of a coincidence to me. Can a stroke cause persistent headaches and what is the treatment????
Avatar n tn The thing that I don’t understand, is that I have never had bad cholesterol or high blood pressure which I have read is the main causes of mini stroke. Yet he cannot explain the other symptoms which I don’t understand. I would just like another opinion.
Avatar f tn Hey Udkas; I experienced several episodes of mini stroke like symptoms, starting in my twenties. In fact the Dr. told me at that time, that I was having symptoms of mini strokes. But I wasn't officially diagnosed. Anyway I have had ongoing symptoms, some the same, some new ones added every so often through the years. I'm getting checked for Sjrogens, but have also got alot of MS symptoms. I would just keep getting tested for things that the Dr. may think it is, until you find what it is.
619370 tn?1221528061 when was havng my first one i went to the hospital and was told that i had a mini stroke or TIA. i had MRI, ct scans, ect! about every test you could think of. my 2nd episode was about 3 days ago. i was rushed to the ER and later was diagnosed with hemiplegic migraines. i am so thankful that i finally know what i have got. i was beginning to think it was all in my head, but i knew i wasnt going crazy!!! my symptoms are on my left side as well.
Avatar n tn Unlike everybody else here, I am the husband and my wife had a TIA (mini stroke) in June 2009. The reasons behind the stroke to this day have never been answered. The doctors initially tried every test (apart from the TEE - transesophogeal echocardiogram). No answers were found. The background of events behind the stroke are what we truly believe hold the answer to the event itself.
Avatar n tn My doctor thinks it could be brain stem mini strokes. He also said it is possible these are signs of a future stroke (brain stem). Is this even possible? I am hypothyroid on synthroid and take aspirin. I have normal blood pressure and borderline cholestorol. Also, where should I go to get a quality second opinion on this?
580765 tn?1274922960 I went off of them when another neuro told me that my first episode was not the mini stroke that they once thought. However, I have never had a racing heat episode while on a blood thinner. * Could it be that thinner blood helps the heart compensate better for an electrical issue? I was quite surprised to hear that my issues from the past 8 years were heart related, but relieved to hear that they were not neurological in nature. I will be following up with a cardiologist in the future.
Avatar f tn i meven was checked for a mini stroke and brain tumer everything came out normel, my calcium is higher then normel in my blood but i am vitamin d defeciacy is now better then it was a year ago.i have also been checked for lupus anf lymes disease bo normelhe just is concerned because they found a possime MS lesions in both sides of my fromtel lobes in my brain aqlsoi my cortex they found a lesion.but im not showing typical MS symptoms thats why i have not be officially dianoed with MS.
Avatar n tn My whole left side had become parylized, I was having trouble talking, my face was drooped, and basically all the classic symptoms of a mini stroke. They didn't really know when they were discharging me what was going on...if it was that I was having TIA's or what...after a couple hours they had decided it was ok to let me go because my symptoms went away...but after I got home, and slept a little bit my symptoms came back...
