Avatar n tn The neurologist I saw told me it could be the beginning of MS or I had some mini strokes. He suggested that I have a spinal tap to determine if it was MS. He also said that if it was one of his family members, he would have the tap down right now but to be checked again in 1 yr. Also start taking 1 baby asprin a day. I am in a total daze right now. What do you think and suggest I do? I have my x-rays and I want to get a second opinion.
66068 tn?1365196781 Not all patients with atrial fibrillation are equally at risk of blood clot formation in the atrium. It has been shown that a previous history of a stroke or a transient stroke (called a transient ischemic attack), high blood pressure, diabetes, congestive heart failure, or certain other structural heart diseases increases the risk of stroke markedly." You'll notice they specifically mention TIAs. By the way, the probability of having a stroke (assuming the yearly probability is 2.
Avatar n tn My only child is 17 years old. I had Toxemia with that pregnancy. Now, I have been diagnosed with a mini stroke vs multiple sclerosis. However, no doctor can tell me exactly what happened to me a year ago. Why I have a 2 brain lesions, but function normal. However, they seem to be able to say that a baby is risky business. Anyway, I just wanted to vent and am open to comments. Thanks!
Avatar n tn I didn't bother going to the doctor for it, as it improved in a couple days. It took about a month before all the feeling returned. I figured it was a mini-stroke at the site of that facial nerve. One of the symptoms that people with Lyme have is chronic sinus infections, not relieved by antibiotics. This might be related to inflammation caused by the Lyme bacteria. Several people at LymeNet.org have use Serrapeptase, an enzyme, to relieve this.
Avatar n tn So, I have a brain MRI coming up, as they are 'wondering' if I had a TIA or mini stroke, I have already talked to a cardiologist, and we are also doing a corridid scan to see if there are any blockages...I am a very (used to be ) active 50 year old. What in the world? I am going to google Esophageal problems and see if that looks familiar...thanks for all the help! Stress? STRESS...don't ALL of us in America have stress?
Avatar m tn Then someone told me that some migraines can mimic TIA or mini strokes. The way my migraines travel or have to take a course before I get rid of them sounds like mini strokes. It's just a thought. I thought I would share with you what was told to me by Just Answers from a Dr at the Mayo Clinic. I was told to contact Johns Hopkins since I live so close to them.
Avatar m tn It should be present in the body in optimum amount, else it can cause brain related problems like stroke, Alzheimer's and Prrkinson's disease. Avatar f tn Just tired of worrying and if its nothing I want to get on with my life. I worry because they always say early detection is the key and I am just afraid they are missing something and when they find it, it will be to late. Seeing all of you on here gives me a little more hope that maybe I need to just stop worrying or maybe its muscle or nerve related.
Avatar n tn Was ridiculed, brushed aside, shouted out and condescended to. Lyme can evade detection in BOTH blood and spinal fluid so it is ultimately a clinical diagnosis. You don't have to recall a bite or have gotten the rash to get it. I sure didn't.
Avatar n tn I finished 48-week treatment 15 months ago. I got infected in 1973 at a tender age of 18, and carried that virus (genotype 1) for 35 years before finding out at the age of 52. I was sick most of my adult life without knowing it. Before treatment my viral load was high - over 2.5 million, and ALT 360. Did not do biopsy as it will give me no meaningful information. I am SVR now. Let me tell you my story for the sake of those who still live with this insidious enemy.
Avatar f tn I found this site while getting information on my Mini Schnauzer who has kidney failure and is having a bout with Pancreatitis. I will share my story at a later time. I just want you to know that you did everything possible for your Cissy and she is no longer suffering. I had a dog die in my arms 20 years ago and have had to put down 2 since. They are like your babies and they can never be replaced.
Avatar m tn As of today (Dec 2012) we are not aware of any studies that have shown an actual reduction in infections in sick people (for instance tuberculosis or COPD) by vitamin D supplementation, as measured by culture or genetical detection methods.
Avatar m tn Also the detection thing with the glasses interests me. Indeed when I blink or use and object in front of my eyes (very close) and moving it upwards and downwards I can see a grey to black line (same as mentioned earlier). The line seems to be a fill in effect, as for example dark lines within a predominantly white background seem to be filled in white at the location of the earlier mentioned grey line, while a dark object seems to fill in the location of the line with a dark colour.
