Avatar f tn I did read (on my research about green tea) that it can irritate the stomach very bad if taken on an empty stomach, maybe tea in general does the same.....maybe try with a bit of food first and make sure not to let it seep long. It is also lnown to stumilate the acids in you stomach.......if you are prone to that, they suggest adding milk to your tea Good luck!
Avatar f tn I have a constantly upset stomach plus acid reflux, m currently on omeprazole.
Avatar n tn Why are you considering taking milk thistle? Do you have liver disease? Milk thistle hasn’t really shown much in the way of clinical evidence of being effective for treating liver injury.
Avatar f tn Milk thistle is good, though I wouldn't use Jarrow's. But a combination liver cleanse is better. There are many good ones. Bupleurum liver cleanse by Planetary Formulas is good, as is Enzymatic Therapy's milk thistle blend. For the chest symptoms, try Planetary Formula's mullein formula -- it should help clear the lungs a bit faster. Good luck.
Avatar m tn Thanks Zelly. My impression is that you took Milk Thistle awhile back. I started it today. Oh gosh...it doesn't feel good. I felt fine before but hrs after taking it, I felt tired, tingling sensation on legs, stomach, and just an awful stomach bloating. I don't know if this is normal. I did a whole lot of reading and there doesn't seem to be any indication of harm, more good than harm.
Avatar m tn Then I went for my endoscopy July 15th and the doctor said, I had some inflammation of my stomach. I asked him about the pain on my right side but he never gave me an answer. I have noticed that the pain on my right side in the morning occurs a lot when I eat a snack the night before, but I always leave 3 to 5 hours before I go to bed. What could be causing this pain ? It is driving me nuts !
Avatar f tn More rarely, it may cause nausea, bloating, gas, and upset stomach. f you have a ragweed allergy, you should also avoid milk thistle. Milk thistle may cause a rash or lead to severe allergic reaction. Since milk thistle may mimic the effects of estrogen, some women should avoid this herb. This includes women who have fibroid tumors or endometriosis. Additionally, women with breast, uterine, and ovarian cancers should not take milk thistle. This is how much I know about Milk Thistle.

Avatar n tn Hi, I'm a nutritionist, not a nurse. However, I would recommend you have a test called a Heidelberg Gastrogram (google this). Find a holistic doctor that does this. He will also treat your liver problem naturally. In fact, an herb called "Milk Thistle" is what you should be on. It heals liver problems. Find the book, "Miracle Cures" by Jean Carper. And read about milk thistle in this book.

298631 tn?1210625430 Before I decided to go ahead with combined tx, I had been reading a lot about alternative/complimentary treatments (milk thistle, etc., etc.). My gastro MD absolutely didn't me taking anything while on tx, but now that I will be off soon, I am wondering if I should start it up, and if so, when? I've read a couple of opinions/reports that complimentary tx can support liver repair and regeneration following tx, and could even boost liklihood of SVR (very limited formal studies though).
Avatar f tn I forgot to tell you after you go to mayo clinic review of milk thistle you go to the site that says Milk Thistle and under that it has Mayo Clinic and it does give a web address www.mayoclinic.com/health/silymarin/NS-patient-milkthistle/ I tried it and can't get there so it is easier to just do it like I said.

Avatar n tn Do NOT take milk thistle while on treatment as it can hurt the efficacy of the medications. In fact unless you know for a fact (that the supplement has been studied thoroughly for reactions to interferon and ribavirin) that it won't hurt anything it's definitely better safe than sorry.
