Avatar m tn From what I have read so far, they suggest whey protein isolate over whey protein concentrate. They say isolate has more protein but from natural factors website, it's suggested that isolate are treated with heat and are somewhat denatured. NaturalFactros also say this is why isolate is poor quality than whey protein concentrate. Now both contradict one another. But I believe concentrate is better since it is treated with less heat and other chemical process etc. What do you think?

Avatar n tn Proteins you can increase a little by taking a glass of toned milk with your regular protein diet. With more of intense muscle building you need to take supplements as advised by your trainer. At a point of time you would see that it gets difficult to shed the remaining fat and here the diet comes as an important factor and you have to squeeze the carbohydrates but never decrease it less than 30-40% of your diet while actively exercising.
Avatar f tn Proper protein rich diet + calcium rich food as in milk, meat and eggs along with sports, with stretching exercises like skipping, swimming, basketball etc. Other factors are not under your control: hormones and genes. Take care!
Avatar m tn As Ive started thinking more and more, when I was working out I remember I couldnt find a protein powder that sat well with me. I kept switching. Milk, and dairy of such doesnt give me diarrhea or pain, like common lactose tolerance symptoms. Milk just alters my stools, turning them light colored after a few days of drinking it. So does sour cream and ice cream. I dont have this problem with cheese, and the lactose tolerance pills did not make a difference in this, because I tried them.

Whey protein mixed in milk with a banana is convenient, but whole foods like tuna salad on whole-grain bread or a roasted chicken breast with a sweet potato are also good. If you use whey protein I suggest only buy whey concentrate not isolate!!! Hope this helps.

I went with veggie & fruit smoothies and used soy milk as it had higher protein content (vs other but mills). But I want to know if anyone else has found out anything else!
746512 tn?1388807580 Thanks for the comments ... I do eat a lot of protein but I have cut back the amount of meat in the last 3-4 years because it was "healthier". I'm playing with dairy because it seems to make my asthma worse and give me gas. I've switched to soy milk but it is lower in fat than cow's milk but yogurt and cheese do bug me a bit too so I've cut back on them but haven't really found a substitue yet.
Avatar f tn re not getting enough. I do think you need a bit more protein in a day- do you ever have beans, lentils, or diary? If you do, your protein and fat consumption might be just fine. How many fruits are you having? You should be aiming for 2-3 serves. Do you have more than that? That's a lot of carbs so if you have more than 2 serves you might want to cut down on them. Keep in mind that running creates good, strong, bulky muscles in your legs.
Avatar f tn You can also use flavored Greek yogurts, but watch the calorie count as some have a lot more sugar than the plain yogurt, and by the time you add milk and the protein powder you might have more calories than you bargained for. I have more recipes, if you're interested, but they aren't much different from these. Your imagination and tastebuds are the only limits to what you can put into a smoothie.

I read about it as my casein research linked to more and more articles. You can find these casein proteins in food that is creamy. Scientists have isolated the specific proteins that give foods a creamy, dairy-like consistency. So when people buy “fake” cheese, they are actually getting those concentrated proteins.

Avatar f tn Well - you have got to have a liquid - so the options are water, milk, or soy/almond/rice/coconut milk. Then you have to have some source of protein. Other than protein powder, you are pretty limited. You don't want to use raw egg. You could use nuts or peanut butter. Other sources of protein such as cooked meat or fish wouldn't be particularly appetizing in a smoothie.
Avatar f tn You can get protein fr a lot of different sources than just a protein shake. Beans, Greek yogurt, cheese, almond milk, etc. be careful w too many protein shakes bcuz of added unnecessary calories & too many protein shakes/bars can make you constipated.
