1900997 tn?1321659956 I absolutely think lactose intolerance is the issue here. Lactose intolerance can come about at any age and for random reasons. I got it after I had my first child. There are different levels of intolerance and thus different amounts people can handle. I rarely ever drink a glass of milk. I find that is isn't a problem when I put it in my cereal. In fact, it helps to keep me regular. The gas is still a bit of a hindrance.
Avatar m tn Hi, 'Signs of a milk allergy that may occur immediately after consuming milk include: * Wheezing * Vomiting * Hives Signs and symptoms that may take more time to develop include: * Loose stools (which may contain blood or mucus) * Diarrhea * Abdominal cramps * Coughing or wheezing * Runny nose * Skin rash It's important to differentiate a true milk allergy from milk protein intolerance or lactose intolerance.
Avatar f tn But it tends to be a slower reaction than milk allergy, which is often quick, or lactose intolerance, which follows within a hour or so. Milk protein intolerance might come on a day or two or three later - and thus be more difficult to connect with the milk exposure.
561451 tn?1257476350 Better make sure it not milk allergy. My son has milk allergy he can't have milk or he can die. Well any dairy. But he gets rashes from it and has problems breath but I have read that another form of milk or diary allergy is vomitting and diarreha. Make sure there no blood in his diarreha if there is he might have a allergy.
Avatar f tn Milk allergy is very common. It causes a variety of symptoms from splitting headaches, tinnitus, skin irritation, asthma, wheezing, breathing problems, sore throat and gastro-intestinal/stomach problems. Imagine ingesting poison ivy. The body reacts everywhere it touches. Same with milk - it's NOT lactose intolerance, it's true allergy. Allergies get worse with exposure, not better so be sure to eliminate dairy products from everything!
Avatar f tn I've always been allergic (not lactose intolerance) to milk since I was born. Now at 5 weeks all I want to eat is milk and things made from milk. Does this mean my baby isn't allergic to milk? Or my allergy for milk going away since I'm pregnant? Or just being pregnant cravings? I don't want to drink milk thinking I'm not allergic and get sick. Help please?
1208279 tn?1289020783 I really love cappuccino because it's so yummy, the combination of coffee, milk and sugar in cold ice really makes my mouth water but everytime and i mean every time i drink one, after a few minutes like 10 to 15 minutes from drinking it. I really get these same reactions from my body. headache, dizziness, lightheaded, the general feeling of body weakness, body malaise and sometimes if it gets really worse i'd get palpitations. it's really not a good feeling.
Avatar m tn Hello. I have celiac disease, a salicylate intolerance AND milk allergy. My blood test showed my milk allergy is considered moderate. I am currently taking NOW foods calcium carbonate powder because it's free of gluten..supposedly free of dairy..and it's pure mineral so it doesn't effect my salicylate intolerance (which comes from plants). I re-introduced turnip into my diet recently but i also started using this calcium powder at the same time.
Avatar f tn I'm not sure whether constipation is associated with lactose intolerance. I have lactose intolerance and I certainly don't get constipated ;) I'm not as sensitive as you, as I can eat small amounts of lactose. If I eat too much lactose I get bloating, cramps, gas and diarrhea. Have you tried lactose-free milk? No lactose...only dairy. See how you react to that. Just don't buy Wal*Mart brand...I think they skimp on removing the lactose and leave some in the milk! LOL.
2030686 tn?1351688548 I am allergic to milk and eggs and am wondering how important it is to avoid them during tx. I have only a slight allergy to milk. I just can't eat anything with a milk base or drink milk, but I can eat things with milk as an ingredient. Eggs I don't tolerate unless it's in baked goods, even then I have problems sometimes. If I'm understanding it right, it's my immune system that is the source of the reaction. So, how important is it for me to avoid these during tx?
Avatar m tn The most common culprits are peanuts, milk, eggs, soya and shellfish. The diagnosis of allergy is difficult to prove or refute. Clinical suspicion and trial of elimination diets are used. It could be an allergic reaction, more so if the symptoms have occurred with the consumption of the same food. Maintain a food diary and note down and monitor your symptoms. This may help to narrow down the search.
1099201 tn?1338180918 t even bother to mention these symptoms to their doctor since they just figure diarrhea, gas etc. is just part of aging. Milk in their coffee, milk in cereal. . . just carrying on as usual. This Lactose Intolerant issue should be made more public. I was in my 40's when I began this terrible trek. It took me more than 20 yrs to decide to do my own research. Lo and behold. There's a title for this malady ! LOL Titles help because it means there are others like us.
Avatar f tn Continued that day then diarrhea for approx 4 to 5 days. Recently a GI diagnosed possible DELAYED MILK Allergy. He does keep a mild bumpy rash on upper arms. My concern is can this type of allergy really cause this type of cycle? I would think he would have more symptoms closer together. We began NO milk protein diet& scheduled MRI next month. Will MRI only show brain or can they see intestinal problems as well?
7729616 tn?1393795492 s in January this year and an alternative nutritionist diagnosed me with dairy intolerance. She recommended I drink rice milk, almond milk and lactose-free milk to relieve my symptoms. However, I have since been under the impression that it could be a dairy allergy rather than intolerance as I still get digestive upset when drinking the lactose-free milk and it's a very sudden reaction, which occurs within 20-30 minutes.
Avatar f tn u could have a allergy called lactose intolerance which basically means u cant break down the sugars from lactose which is mainly found in dairy products there are tests for this with your doctor{breath tests} and is very common.
Avatar f tn Sorry this is way off of our normal subject, but I was just wondering the signs of lactose intolerance and whether or not you can get this as you get older. I am wondering because I have had abdominal pain for the past about 4 days. And I mean it really hurts. Also my back kind of where my kidneys are. I also get nausea a little and spent this morning vomiting. I went to the doctor and he said I was free of infection, and I am not pregnant so he does not know.
Avatar f tn Every pregnancy I hace had, I couldnt tolerate cows milk. It really upsets my stomach. I niw only drink LACTAID. Its really good and lactose free. Still has vitamin D and calcium too. Worth a try.
Avatar f tn If you are allergic to milk, you can be allergic either to a protein in the milk or have lactose intolerance. Are you allergic to milk products? If not and if you are able to consume milk during daytime without any problem, then you are not allergic to milk. Some people are not able to take milk at night as it causes gas and bloating and vomiting. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar n tn We got a mill to make our own rice flour. We also use masa. Milk wise, we use rice milk and soy milk. We have come up with recipes for cookies, pancakes, spaghetti sauce, chili, banana bread, etc. We also do tacos with corn tortillas and sometimes have 'beanie tacos' (that my kids really like) where we put refried beans, onions, and sauce on the corn tortillas. Rice Chex and Honey Nut Chex work well for cereals. Does any of that sound like it would work for your family?
Avatar n tn Some people cannot have any dairy products at all yet some can tolerate cheese, yogurt but no milk (Some people can tolerate skim milk but not whole milk). Most people with lactose intolerance have loose bowels to diarrhea after eating dairy products and have mild to severe (depending on how much they eat) abdominal pains. Suggest having your son tested by an Allergist so you know if he has an intolerance or not.
Avatar f tn You may suffer food intolerance without food allergy. Foods that are frequently related with food intolerance are dairy products, grains that contain gluten, and foods that cause intestinal gas buildup, like beans and cabbage. You can go to your GP or dietitian to help you address the problem.
Avatar n tn My 13 yo son had a hydrogen breath test, and we know he is lactose intolerant. His starting hydrogen number was also high, indicating small bowel bacteria overgrowth as well. He also has a swollen esophagus with eosiniphiles present, so they suspect a food allergy - but none came out on allergy testing. We did antibiotics and now probiotics, although he hasn't had a repeat hydrogen test, so who knows if his bacterial situation is more to rights, now.
Avatar f tn I'm thinking celiac disease, and you might have allergy to other foods also. Turns out I can't have gluten, dairy or nuts. But it's great to feel better. Start taking vitamin supplements - especially vitamin D - 4000 mg.
Avatar f tn I was advised with my daughter to get her tested for milk allergy, casein sensitivity before changing her diet (although I did temporarily change it and had problems getting her to eat anything so I talked to her pediatrician and that's why they tested her... got a big lecture on not goign to the pediatrician first before doing anything). Her developmental pediatrician who diagnosed her with PDD also cautioned me against changing diet with consulting a doctor first.
