Common Questions and Answers about Milk allergy migraines

Avatar f tn Over the last few years, I have noticed that I get migraine headaches and nausea quite often. This seems to happen when I regularly eat dairy products made from cow's milk. My doctor has not found any instance of tumors, so I am pretty sure that's not the problem. I have started eating more soy-based products, and it seems to help. I have not been diagnosed with any particular allergy just yet. Is it possible Is it possible to develop an adult onset allergy to cow's milk?
Avatar f tn About four years ago I begin having issues with regurgitation what I had eaten so my doctor put me on Reglan and the symptoms seemed to be ok as long as I didn't miss a does of my meds. Being concerned about the FDA black box warning on the drug I switched to Prilosec and did fine on it for about a year. In May of 2012 I had a new symptom come on after I swallowed a pill the wrong way. I constantly had a feeling that a lump was in the back of my throat.
Avatar f tn Is it possible to develop an allergic reaction to alcohol this late in life? I already have issues with migraines, so I am starting to think I just need to quit drinking entirely.
Avatar m tn It sounds like an allergy, possibly including migraine. I get migraines if I eat gluten or nuts, while cheese causes different problems for me.
1900997 tn?1321659956 a couple of hours later, I get ferocious stomach pain and flatulence that smells of milk, quite often also diarrhoea. So I switched to lactose-free milk, but this has not brought about any improvement whatsoever. Skimmed milk is just as bad as full fat, so it can't be the fat content either.
Avatar m tn The baby may show reaction towards breast milk also if the mother is taking dairy products in her diet.Diagnosis of milk allergy can be confirmed after skin ***** or patch tests and food challenge tests.Confirmation can be done with blood tests like RAST.It also helps in differentiating milk allergy from lactose intolerance. You need to consult an allergy specialist for that. Treatment involoves elimination of all dairy products from the diet.

Avatar f tn I've always been allergic (not lactose intolerance) to milk since I was born. Now at 5 weeks all I want to eat is milk and things made from milk. Does this mean my baby isn't allergic to milk? Or my allergy for milk going away since I'm pregnant? Or just being pregnant cravings? I don't want to drink milk thinking I'm not allergic and get sick. Help please?
Avatar f tn It could be a food allergy that is bothering him and since you are going to an allergist I recommend testing many of the common allergens along with some other things that you eat often. Test for soybean, wheat, milk, nuts, etc. It could also be a parasite of some kind so if he shows up negative for food allergies, you could try a parasite stool test.
Avatar n tn I'm no expert or anything, but I've heard of people who already have epilepsy becoming prone to seizures from food allergies. Definitely follow the more expert advice, but it won't hurt to check for food allergies. A lot of people are allergic to wheat or gluten and a lot of people are allergic to milk. If it's not a "true" allergy, it can still be food sensitivities. Google information for food sensitivities and for food elimination/food challenge diets.
Avatar f tn Ive had and endoscopy, colonoscopy, cat scan, xray, multiple blood tests, allergy tests, diabetes test, fructose intolerance test, and stomach motility/emptying test and the doctors haven't found anything except lactose intolerance. I tried an IBS diet but that did nothing to alleviate my symptoms (it might have even made the worse especially the bloating). ive tried cutting out dairy and gluten from my diet and nothing works. The pain is so bad that ive had to miss 15% of school this year.
Avatar f tn And the sinus has nothing to do with food allergies, so yes I agree with you that sinus allergy problems are not the cause of her migraines. Now if she would ever respond we can maybe help her. Thanks for your input.
Avatar f tn I have hideous Migraines for many years. Almost all are caused by too much tyramine. I follow a strict Diet, but keep having to add things too it. I just now, on this site, realized this could be an actual allergy. I have many other food allergies, so it is reasonable. My present allergist will not deal with this--does not like to deal with food sensitivities. I go to him for air-born allergies (he is very good with these) and allergies to medicines, of which I have many.
Avatar f tn How can my mom live without milk and milk curd ? These are questions you should be asking your doctor. There are alternatives to milk. Some people are allergic to milk and they can't drink it.
Avatar n tn t know what geotrichum is, but I do know that many processed milk products have sulfites in them, including powdered milk, yogurt (which has powdered milk in it) and cheese. Then, of course, there is the fermenting process necessary for making things like cheese that gets into the various mold varieties that make cheese bad for people with migraine issues.
Avatar n tn Like wheat or gluten contains riboflavin which is found in milk also.So people allergic to milk may show allergy towards wheat also. This phenomena is called cross reactivity. Milk from other mammals (such as goats and sheep), and hydrolysed milk and soya formulas, are sometimes used as a substitute for babies who are at risk of developing cows’ milk allergy. However, the allergens in milk from goats and sheep are very similar to those in cows’ milk.
Avatar f tn This is my first pregnancy I was wondering do you have to drink milk while your pregnant I do not like milk???
Avatar f tn Yes, it is really worrying to see your child suffer. Since she is just 8, there is a chance she has lactose allergy and milk or milk products are causing nausea. Other food sensitivities too can co-exist. It can also be due to acidity. Though she is very small possibility of a nerve impingement in cervical spine area should also be investigated. It could also be cyclical vomiting syndrome with only nausea and no frank vomiting. Hope this helps. Take care!
6224500 tn?1388947668 Hello there, Just finished reading your post. You say you eat gluten/wheat/flour/ lactose containing food in the morning. What exact foods do you eat that contain these things ? You mention " eating gluten/lactose containing food and drink. What exactly is this and are you drinking milk, for example. It sounds to me like some food(s) you're eating in the morning are causing the bloating, gas and constipation.
Avatar f tn The info above is EXCELLENT! My daughter got migraines from certain brands of smoke versus others and she has a formaldehyde sensitivity when it's used in fabric -- so we are guessing it's that component. Luckily nowadays we have smoke-free environments and she's been great with her migraines.
5069563 tn?1363270017 You don't have to drink milk when your pregnant, I know people who hate it and never drank it and they had perfectly healthy babies. They say to drink a lot of water it's way better then milk. I drank a lot of milk that's all I would drink and they told me that I should be dining water because the sugars in milk can somewhat dehydrate you if that's all you drink, same for sodas, so if your drinking water don't worry about drinking milk, you really don't have to.
1025806 tn?1333572690 But everything else is good and all of the sinus and allergy medications are probably even really good for the prevention of migraines, since allergies can be really bad migraine triggers... but, just none of the sinus stuff is ideal for the acute treatment of migraines because none of it is migraine medication and the moment you feel a migraine, you should probably be taking acute migraine medication.
