Common Questions and Answers about Milk allergy formula

milk

Avatar n tn Some highly hydrolysed milk formulas are suitable for babies with cows’ milk allergy, but other types of formula, such as partially hydrolysed milk and soya formulas, aren’t suitable, because many babies with cows’ milk allergy might react to them as well. http://www.theallergysite.co.uk/dairy.html You can get blood tests like RAST or skin ***** test done to find whether your child will be allergic to soy milk or not. That is the only way of confirming the allergic reaction.
Avatar f tn Hello, Most of the breast-fed babies develop lactose intolerance which usually self corrects but not always if it is a cow milk or a formula milk "problem" or allergy/intolrance with some dietary ingredient. Most babies with milk allergy are allergic to cow’s milk protein, while others are allergic to soy protein, and some to both. Breast-fed infants normally have stools that look like watery, yellow cottage cheese.
Avatar f tn s start to vomting every bottle of hole milk I give him. Should I go back on formula or give him 2% milk ?
Avatar f tn a possible cows milk protein intolerance/allergy, but will only drink aptamil 1st milk -21ozs a day and is on 3 meals a day, why is he putting on so little weight? my daughter is 2 and half and was loads bigger than him at the same age!!
Avatar f tn She does not have colic - can be soothed - but just keeps getting more and more formula. I feel Gerd and milk allergy are grossly overdiagnosed in infants. Lactose overload has been diagnosed in breast-fed infants now - and I believe it is also found in babies.
Avatar n tn She suffered from diarrhea with whole milk formula and lactose free formula. We finally found the solution - soy formula. When she turned 1 year old and we were weening her from formula, we had to dillute her whole milk until she could finally tolerate (w/o producing diarrhea) taking whole milk. For the past several years we have been noticing the great amount of flatulance(gas) she produces on a daily basis.
290867 tn?1333569278 I took him in today because he has been coughing and spitting up really bad and she said he has a Milk Protien allergy as well as GERD! I know there is a forum here on that topic but I am hioping someone can advise me on some info and expierances! Also who has used this formula and had a good outcome!
551604 tn?1333983135 as you guys kow Nicole's milk got changed because she had an allergy to the milk proteinfound in regular baby formula(simila, enfamil etc) as I was searching through the internet to see where I can buy her new milk in bulks (Nutramigen) i came across a post where a lady called her insurance and they paid for the formula. Well.... I called my insurance and they would cover $2500 a year for formula. They just needed a signed prescripton from her pediatrician and her information.
Avatar f tn Could be allergy or intolerance to milk, that's what it was for my son. Test for food allergy AND milk protein peptides showing up in the urine, indicating enzyme deficiency in breaking down milk protein. Is he irritable or occasionally spike fevers for no reason? My sons weight was in the 10th percentile and I went to the doctor from the time he was 10 months old for that and his emotional coping problems. I thought they must somehow be related, but was told no.
Avatar n tn Diarrhea is a sign of intolerance. He may have trouble digesting cow's milk protein. You might have to take him to the Dr for formula recommendations. I'd either be soy or a formula that has partially digested milk proteins already. If you can start breastfeeding again i say go for it. Less of a hassle.
964234 tn?1331949207 t have the rash at his last appointment. Doctor dismissed the thought of an allergy to milk because of this. Now that he has this rash I am starting to wonder? Any thoughts and experience would be appreciated. Also, the doctor was saying switching him to soy would probably make his gas and constipation worse? But, she said I can give it a try if I want. Another thought of hers is that he has an immature digestive system. I can use which ever formula I want, he will still be fussy.
Avatar f tn I had to switch to a sensitive formula. Little did we know she had a allergy to milk and all the gas and not pooping was being caused by that.
Avatar n tn Definitely check into switching her formula to something non-milk based. It's very possible she has a milk allergy or intolerance, especially since you can pinpoint the beginnings of the troubles with you starting her on formula. I hope you find answers and she starts feeling better soon!
419158 tn?1316571604 -( The thing I dont get is this new formula that doesnt have milk or soy prducts is still making her sick! I have also asked her peds about maybe a stomach bug and he said no. Babies her age dont tend to get those, but he keeps warning me to have everyone get their flu shot so that Taylor isnt exposed to the flu! Does that make any sence??? Not to me! Im so afraid that its nothing to do with the formula but a problem with her stomach or bowels. Im living my pregnancy all over again!!!
Avatar f tn ve heard to keep my baby on formula for a year. My mom put me on cows milk at 3 months old. I was and am perfectly fine. Is this a personal choice, or a necessary thing to keep my baby on formula for a year?
290867 tn?1333569278 Did he happen to have an allergic reaction to regular formula as well? If so, you need to take him in to the hospital if so, and have him checked. And then you'll need to get on a formula that isn't soy or milk based. It is common, and that is what they look for, for an allergy!
906115 tn?1344200509 I'm not lactose intolerant but I have a true milk allergy which is very rare in adults. I was diagnosed as a child but when I went to the allergist recently they said no way I would have grown out of it but when they tested me sure enough like I said I was still allergic.
561451 tn?1257476350 Better make sure it not milk allergy. My son has milk allergy he can't have milk or he can die. Well any dairy. But he gets rashes from it and has problems breath but I have read that another form of milk or diary allergy is vomitting and diarreha. Make sure there no blood in his diarreha if there is he might have a allergy.
Avatar f tn To find out whether your child is having contact dermatitis to milk(eczema)or he is having milk allergy(rashes are present in the mild form of milk allergy),skin tests and food challenge tests have to be done by an allergist.Pls consult him for that. Hope it helps.
9842459 tn?1411688168 Yes they can have a dairy allergy, but that's not your milk, its from u drinking milk and having a lot of dairy. Like the lady said above. If you stop eating it they will be fine.
961466 tn?1247550382 Please take her to the hospital or dr and have them do an ultrasound to check for pyloric stenosis if they rule that out it could be a milk protein allergy in which you would have to eliminate all milk from your diet if breastfeeding or you need to switch formula. But please have your dr rule out pyloric stenosis asap. If she is not keeping anything down you should consider taking her to the hospital, infants dehydrate VERY quickly.
Avatar f tn I would start either half and half (Half milk and half formula) in his bottle or try alternating between formula and milk. Have you introduced any other milk products to him yet? My son is lactose intolerant so it will be soy based milk when he transitions. I would try to contact your family physician about transitioning him onto milk as soon as possible. At 12 months old a child is ready for cow's milk unless they have an allergy.
Avatar m tn It could certainly be a milk allergy and you should go back to your Doctor for more answers,I doubt if you have her on solids yet so it has to be the Milk she is drinking, perhaps you have to change it and see.
2061712 tn?1355244263 We than switched to Nutramigen and then Alimentum for babies with milk protein intollerance. We had stocked up on the first formula and ended up having to give it to my cousin for her little boy. It's best to not stock up just in case your baby can't take the formula.
873692 tn?1337275733 we get him better, stools back to normal and then wait another few days to a a week and do it again and it is the same outcome we have tried all the milks out there whole,2%, 1% skim and soy but all turn out the same we have a dr appt on Thurs to hopefully figure this out but i was wondering if you ladies could give me any incite and help me out oh and there in no family history of a milk allergy on my side or his fathers and the formula he is drinking is enfamil premium (which is a milk based
