Common Questions and Answers about Milk allergy esophagus

milk

Avatar m tn This is often caused by milk allergy or by acid reflux. Your health would benefit from removing this irritant, whichever it is.
Avatar m tn I used to have this until I stopped dairy, especially drinking milk. There are so many substitutes now, such as almond milk, coconut milk, flax milk, it's easy to replace dairy. In case you have acid reflux, start taking Metamucil capsules every day. It cures reflux for my boyfriend.
Avatar f tn If treatment for adrenal fatigue will not help for allergy I will go for LDS drops. Nobody in my family admits that having allergy though one of my half brothers has asthma and my mom have light sensitivity to laundry powder. Probably they have different symptoms only. My father has atherosclerosis and my brother had sinus problem and cancer. Who knows it could be from allergy.
1539379 tn?1294332115 With allergies, you should be tested (blood test) for all major allergies which will include a milk allergy. When I say dairy-free, I actually mean dairy-free which means eliminating whey and casein but if a milk allergy test comes back negative then you only need to do lactose-free.
1900997 tn?1321659956 a couple of hours later, I get ferocious stomach pain and flatulence that smells of milk, quite often also diarrhoea. So I switched to lactose-free milk, but this has not brought about any improvement whatsoever. Skimmed milk is just as bad as full fat, so it can't be the fat content either.
Avatar m tn The baby may show reaction towards breast milk also if the mother is taking dairy products in her diet.Diagnosis of milk allergy can be confirmed after skin ***** or patch tests and food challenge tests.Confirmation can be done with blood tests like RAST.It also helps in differentiating milk allergy from lactose intolerance. You need to consult an allergy specialist for that. Treatment involoves elimination of all dairy products from the diet.
Avatar f tn I've always been allergic (not lactose intolerance) to milk since I was born. Now at 5 weeks all I want to eat is milk and things made from milk. Does this mean my baby isn't allergic to milk? Or my allergy for milk going away since I'm pregnant? Or just being pregnant cravings? I don't want to drink milk thinking I'm not allergic and get sick. Help please?
Avatar n tn Doctor did a full allergy test, everything is normal(except little dustmite allergy as per the results). Multiple Blood tests in last 20 months turned out to be normal on all counts. He is a healthy active boy with reasonable growth (75 percentile height and weight). Of course he lose a lot of weight after a bout of cold/cough due to excessive vomiting (He vomits with food intake almost 80% time when he gets cough). Doctor prescribed pediatric pravacid, but didn’t help much at all.
Avatar m tn Esophageal candidiasis or fungal infection, gonococcal pharyngits, chemical burn of esophagus due to acid, and cancer of the esophagus are some other causes. Another possibility is irritation of the anterior fibers of C2-3 spinal nerves with spasm of the muscles attached to hyoid bone. This usually happens due to injury or postural problems causing curving of lower cervical spine. If everything is ruled out then the problem could be psychogenic and counseling may help.
Avatar f tn I have no meds and I have tried yogurt (yoplait wildberry) and I think the fruit contains acid. I heard milk coats the throat and soothes the pain but I have never been a white milk drinker... unless in cereal. But I do have chocolate syrup to make chocolate milk... will that work just as well?
6765322 tn?1395814235 Milk and Tums work for me - especially the milk. The dairy coats the inside of your esophagus and creates a "barrier" of sorts between your esophagus and the stomach acid that causes heartburn. It doesn't work for everyone, but its worth a shot...
290867 tn?1333569278 He is also doing 10000x better on the Alimentum for his milk protien allergy so he is feeling so much better! We are adding 1 teaspoon rice cereal to every once of formula in the bottle to help keep it down! Doctors orders! Does this all sound about right?
Avatar f tn I am one mom ho does nto agree to give any baby a cows milk based formula as the protiens are so large it si not good for them even if they ahve no milk sensitivty or allergy. I am all for goats milk which is most like breastmilk. Now for the doctors that say to put cereal in the babies milk. A big NO NO! This only makes a bad situation worse.
Avatar n tn He also has a swollen esophagus with eosiniphiles present, so they suspect a food allergy - but none came out on allergy testing. We did antibiotics and now probiotics, although he hasn't had a repeat hydrogen test, so who knows if his bacterial situation is more to rights, now. What concerns me is that his stomach issues don't follow the typical lactose-intolerance -- he is prone to gas and constipation (chronic), but not diarrhea when he has had milk.
Avatar f tn We do have a leukemia forum on MH if you want to put the question there, How is he eating as some food allergy may account for the reflux, does he eat enough bulk and fruits ,veg that would account for constipation. How does he get on at school ?
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with EE about 6 months ago - My esophagus reacts to anything going down it (food/fluids) and closes over to a narrow hole. This followed diagnosis from gastroscopy after an episode of a tablet getting stuck in my throat and temporary loss of breathing! Does anyone know or have any idea if this allergic response of esoniphils gathering in my food tube is a reaction to food or possibly pollen? I do live in the asthma capital of the world - Melbourne Australia!
Avatar m tn It started with certain meats and vegetables that would cause his esophagus to spasm to the point that he vomits and cannot breath. He has tried a variety of medicines but nothing seems to help and the allergies are getting worse. Now he is allergic to many different foods and many times the order in which he eats the food determines whether he will have an attack. He has noticed now that drinking milk when he feels an attack coming will help but it doesn’t always.
Avatar f tn How can my mom live without milk and milk curd ? These are questions you should be asking your doctor. There are alternatives to milk. Some people are allergic to milk and they can't drink it.
Avatar n tn ) It finally turned out to be an allergy to oranges. My first allergy. I stopped eating oranges and I was fine.
Avatar n tn t know what geotrichum is, but I do know that many processed milk products have sulfites in them, including powdered milk, yogurt (which has powdered milk in it) and cheese. Then, of course, there is the fermenting process necessary for making things like cheese that gets into the various mold varieties that make cheese bad for people with migraine issues.
Avatar n tn Like wheat or gluten contains riboflavin which is found in milk also.So people allergic to milk may show allergy towards wheat also. This phenomena is called cross reactivity. Milk from other mammals (such as goats and sheep), and hydrolysed milk and soya formulas, are sometimes used as a substitute for babies who are at risk of developing cows’ milk allergy. However, the allergens in milk from goats and sheep are very similar to those in cows’ milk.
Avatar f tn This is my first pregnancy I was wondering do you have to drink milk while your pregnant I do not like milk???
Avatar f tn A common cause of such spasm is when stomach acid flows backward into the esophagus (acid reflux) X-rays of the esophagus might be necessary to further evaluate this possibility. These are just some possibilities. There are others of course that need to be ruled-out (found to not exist) but many of these can be dismissed by a normal physical exam, chest X-ray and maybe an EKG if there is any consideration of irritation around the heart.
