Metronidazole for sinus infection

Common Questions and Answers about Metronidazole for sinus infection

Avatar m tn The dental issues persisted, and I had a CT scan on September 7. It revealed an acute right maxillary sinus infection. This was partly the reason for the Clindamycin. I saw an ENT this week to evaluate the sinuses, and he took another CT. He said that the right maxillary sinus had cleared up and what appears there in the CT is actually a cyst. But he said one of the left sinuses is now infected. He didn't name it, but it appears to be the sphenoid sinus.
Avatar m tn You may have a problem that looks like a sinus infection, but is something else. The medical model works for most people, and if you have a severe sinus infection, it could spread to other parts of your head or body, and it would be a good idea to be on antibiotics. Part I explains the Flip-Turn Sinus Flush®, Part II tells you why it works, Part III tells you how to prevent sinus problems. Good luck, and breathe free! INTRODUCTION Antibiotics often do not work for chronic sinusitis.
Avatar f tn I felt somewhat better, but it may have just run its course after those three weeks. In Nov. I had a sinus infection. Went to the same doc in Dec., got the Z-Pak. Got a little better. Had another one in Jan, but mild. Had a bad one in Feb. This time, I said that the Z-pak was not doing anything. Took Levaquin for a week (750mg\day). Felt much better. Until March, when I had another mild sinus infection. In April, I had this. It did last about three weeks.
Avatar m tn normal. Had brain MRI: normal Have taken sofar in sequence, Doxycycline 100, then Amoxycillin Forte with Clavulanic Acid, now on Cephalexin and Metronidazole in combination with grape seed extract. None have made much difference except to lessen the headaches and I suppose rule out bacterial infections, so what I have is probably viral. Taking loads of vit C, garlic, horseradish, etc and resting in bed but nothing is helping. This going on for 6 weeks now, very debilitating.
586636 tn?1223131279 - Irregular periods (most of the time I don't get them for months). - Sinus problems (runny nose, headaches/sinus pressure, etc.) But I can live with that. - Tight pressure in my chest (makes me short of breath and I have to yawn and sigh alot). So my main symptoms are a pounding heart, a yucky, REALLY disgusting, and swollen feeling in my throat, and horrible stomach pains and pressure in my chest, and weird periods.
Avatar f tn a few months after I posted this, during which I got worse and worse, I was finally admitted to the hospital - the infection had surrounded my brain. They admitted me for meningitis, betting that the infection had caused swelling in the layers around my brain. I was given an IV drug combo of vancomycin, and 2 others that escape my memory right now ... one of the others was pipterocillin or something that sounded like that, and one other that I think began with a th-.
Avatar n tn after having a yeast infection for roughly 3months straight i went to a different docter who prescribed it to me again. 1 pill for 3 days in a row then 1 a week for a month. this healed my infection.
Avatar f tn 1min and they both left the room w/o even saying a word to me! My Dr came back alone with a prescription for Metronidazole, but no diagnosis. The 1st Dr still thinks it is Herpes, the 2nd Dr wanted me to try the antibiotic cream, but I never got to say a word to him so I don't know if he just did it to appease me or if he truly thinks I need it? Now I have used the Metronidazole for a week and I don't think that my condition has really changed much.
Avatar f tn I finished taking metronidazole and trimethoprim on Thursday morning for a sinus infection. I then had a few drinks on Friday night, and have been vomiting since about 3 am Saturday morning and it has not ceased. I am wondering if it's likely this is a result of the residual medication in my body.
Avatar f tn it was prescribed to me before for a sinus infection.....i mean dont all antiiotics work the same? some are just stronger than others?
Avatar n tn Urine showed crystals and a severe bladder infection. The Vet put her on Baytril, Sucralfate and Metronidazole and special food. Today, she had xrays done and so far looked normal but they need to be examined. Her history on meds are Prednisone for (Allergies) inflamed feet from licking and biting. The vet does not think the throwing up blood has to do with the bladder infection and seems to be at a loss as to why she threw up blood. Please help.
Avatar f tn Hi all. I'm new to this forum. I am hoping to her some reliefe & answers. I am 2 weeks postpartum. Everything has been going good with my body. No pain, no more clotting or bleeding. The only thing that I am concerned about is that for the past couple of days I've been having this mild to moderate off & on headache underneath my brow bone right above my eye & sort of on top of the right side of my head. It hurts a little when I move my head or eye around sometimes.
Avatar f tn metronidazole is effective for periodontal pathogens. Clindamycin +metronidazole is a common prescription for jaw bone infection, including post lower 3 molar extraction medication.
Avatar f tn Over a month after the birth, I had another wisdom tooth infection and was given Metronidazole again by my dentist, this time I had terrible itching all over, hot flushes, dizziness/vertigo, I could not even hold my baby, I felt weak and didn't finish the course (had one tablet left). I then started to get worse and was convinced the infection spread through my system, I then got another infection in my womb and was put on clarythromycin, that cleared fine but I still felt so ill.
Avatar n tn In the end (when I started to suspect it might be a dental problem) my dentist agreed to give me an antibiotic (reluctantly) - called Metronidazole (400mg tablets x 15 which I took 3 times a day for 5 days). I was absolutely fanatical about taking them at the correct time and was careful not to drink alcohol etc. I was desperate. And it worked !
Avatar f tn You might have fungal infection of sinuses. Craving for sugar and alcohol, and brain fog are typical symptoms in yeast infection. It may last a while to treat this. Maybe you would need a combination of antifungal drugs. It may also be a combination of bacteria and fungi. I'd really recommend you asking for testing of nasal discharge for fungi and bacteria, since appropriate targeted antifungals and antibiotics can be used. Low vit B12 affects nerves, so tingling may be from this.
Avatar m tn Could I have a yeast infection in my urethra? and lastely, 4. Having this infection for so long, could it be damaging something else? My fertility? I just had blood labs on May 3rd and everything was normal. Is there anything else I should be concerned with? This should do it. Thanks!
Avatar m tn , sinus, fever, slight headache) are not indicative of infection. This is a little after 2 weeks of the incident. I feel horrible for the stupidity of my actions and guilty because I'm a married man. While I'm waiting on the urinalysis, what is the possible condition? Thank you.
Avatar n tn Now, two months later, I'm finishing my 3rd antibiotic and I think the sinus infection I got following the RC is finally clearing up. Before the RC, my dentist told me he could just put a filling in after the RC, but the endo recommended a crown. I got a second opinion from another dentist who also recommends a crown. When I discussed it with my dentist, he said the porcelain is super-hard and it can be difficult prepping the tooth for a crown, but he could do it.
Avatar m tn A few weeks later I went back in still having flow issues, he prescribed cipro for 7 days, which helped for a little while and cleared up flow issues. In the middle of September I was prescribed a z pak for a sinus infection but now I was having some pain in my testicles. I went to another doctor for this and was prescribed 2g of Zithromax, 400mg of cefixime and 2g of flagyl, but no testing.
Avatar n tn Or a sinus problem or even the plain old cold coming on. See if it continues for a while.
Avatar f tn when you are showing sinus tachy youve been defincient for a long time so its takes a while for your levels to get back up-- i always think they are suppossed to work like magic thats not the case--i almost had a heart cath done they refused and gave me special prescription vits claiming i had an infection with an anemia --infection was finally found--i didnt stay on the special prescription blaming the infection for causing the lack of vits--plus the phamacy claimed the over the counter ones a
Avatar n tn But the infection has to clear before they can remove it. The vet put her on an antibiotic. She couldn't barely walk the next day. We called the vet that morning. She is having trouble seeing, she is walking into walls, not eating, seems kind of delusional. The vet said to take her off the medication and we took her back to the vet. They do not know what is causing this. They did put her on a new antibiotic yesterday. She was able to eat a little bit of chicken.
Avatar f tn I have been fighting a bone infection in my jaw for 6 months - it wasn't identified until this past month but I'd been very sick this whole time. This past month I finally found a good oral surgeon who removed the 2 teeth causing the problem, and cleaned out the bone underneath.
Avatar n tn As to whether there is risk of transmission to your wife, the answer is simply unknown. Except for cases caused by chlamydia, the germs responsible for NGU don't seem to cause serious health problems in women. However, this is not known for sure and the standard advice is that men in your situation should avoid sex with their regular partners until the problem clears up. I doubt your sore throat has anything to do with all this.
Avatar n tn I freaked, and tested negative for stds, and so did the other woman. In Feb. I was put on 10 days of doxy for a sinus infection. After 3 days of it, I received unprotected oral from yet another woman. Late March of April I started seeing signs of what I thought was urethritis: occasional discomfort with urinating and clear sticky fluid (mucus?) present only when milking my penis. I had 3 (yes 3) negative swabs for chlamydia. But still also received 2g zithromax and 7 days of doxy.

Avatar n tn It honestly smells like i have went # 2 in my pants, farted, and/or died. Sometimes i can get whiffs of it sometimes i cannot. It lasts for a longer time than i smell it from what people tell me. But it in not constant throughout the whole day. I can get rotten filth tastes in my mouth. The times i cannot smell it i know its happening cause people are going crazy when they come in contact with me. It happens at random times of the day everyday.
Avatar n tn I need to know if in the absense of an ulcer, or even significant digestive distress, is antacid therapy with something like Prevacid necessary for the actual killing of the H. pylori when taking a dual antibiotic therapy? In that H. pylori produces urease and by products which leads to neutralization of stomach acid (so it doesn't seem to like acid), for the sole purposes of killing the H. pylori is the antacid therapy a true necessary? I understand that H.
