Avatar n tn I think the anxiety could have been due to health anxiety related to a spinal headache or a reaction to a z-pack, which I had never used before. On my second visit to the ER, they prescribed 50 mg of metoprolol tartrate twice per day. Now my doctor wants me to take an SSRI to help the anxiety. I tried 50 mg of Zoloft but had severe nausea and anxiety the first day and stopped it. Now my doctor has prescribed 10 mg.

Avatar m tn 5mg Bisohexal for the last 4 months to keep it under control. Prior to that I was on Hexal Linisnipril. Now my question is could the joint and muscle pain be related to my back? And the sore throat to my blood pressure medication? And the soft stool is maybe just incidental? Or should I have another HIV test done?

Avatar f tn 24 hr results form heart monitor came back and showed some abnormal rhythms. Doctor put me on Sota-Hexal 80mg morning and night, still drinking it. The cardiologist then referred me to an electro physiologist for further testing. I finally got an appointment after 3 months. He thought he saw some shadow on my heart via the sonar which he then sent me to another doctor to do an MRI scan of the heart. He finally gave me the results after they analyzed it twice for some reason.
12182312 tn?1427683956 SSRIs like paroxetine are a type of antidepressant that works by increasing the amount of serotonin in the brain, while metoprolol is a beta blocker which works on the heart. What type of metoprolol are you taking. Metoprolol Tartrate or Metoprolol Succinate?
Avatar f tn Im already on 100 mg 1 time a day of extended release Metoprolol.....and I think, just to appease me, because ive had a couple really really bad days of almost nonstop palps..he said to increase my Metoprolol to 1 100mg tablet in the morning...and 1 100mg tablet at night. Anyone EVER been on such a huge dose before??? I trust him...but yet....Im scared to take that much!!! ANY info on SVC OR Metoprolol would be appreciated!
Avatar n tn I have taken Toprol xl 25 mg for about 5 years. My doctor switched me to metoprolol several months ago. When I filled my prescription this time, it was from a different mfg and I think I may be having problems with it as I just don't feel right. Could changing the mfg make a difference? ALSO, my doctor prescribed 50 mg to be cut in half for my prescribed 25 mg dose. Does cutting this tablet in half compromise the time release?
Avatar n tn I have been having some strange symptoms since starting metoprolol as a migraine preventative. My head feels like it weighs a ton, and there is a lot of pressure up there, too. I've also been experiencing blurry vision and some concentration issues. I also take lithium, trazodone and neurontin and a rare xanax.
443862 tn?1237999439 I don't think the metoprolol, a beta blocker which; reduces the force and rate of the contraction of the heart, is causing this. The medicines that you take for hyperthyroidism might cause some exacerbation of the "hard heart beat" symptoms, especially if they are contraindicated with metoprolol, of course. Your doctor should be on top of this and I would let him know about it, especially if it just started, or is getting worse.
Avatar f tn Ok so I've been on Metoprolol 50-100mg a day for about a year for benign tachycardia. It's overall worked good for me. But I've noticed a decline in sexual function, specifically, more difficulty keeping an erection during sex. I'm about to start Cialis, so hopefully that will help regardless, but my cardiologist mentioned that I might try Cardizem. He was suggesting it had fewer sexual side effects.
Avatar f tn About a week after the event, I camed down with an upper respiratory infection and was prescribed a Z Pak. I was to take the first 2 pill the first night, a total of 500 mg and 250 mg for the following four days. My question is... do you think that is effective against eliminating Gonnorhea if I were to have it? And what other STD's could this take care of?
Avatar f tn I take this medication as well and have been on it for 3 years. I have never experienced depression while on this medication. I believe your doctor is correct in that this is not a side effect of the medication. I have not heard of weight gain from this medication as well. Maybe this is a side effect of your depression? In other words, you are eating more because you are depressed.
Avatar n tn I got the generic form but the cost is very high. Can he switch to metoprolol and take 50mg in the am and 50mg in the pm?
Avatar f tn He told me to wean off of the metoprolol for 5 days while taking the verapamil, and to cut down to 50mg on the metoprolol for the first day and go progressively down throughout the 5 days it takes for the verapamil to get in my system. I haven't started the verapamil yet. Partially because I have a hard time swallowing pills, partially because I am confused about the specifics of switching.
1027737 tn?1253103788 Hi, Can someone tell me what the difference between Metoprolol and Metoprolol Tartrate is? Thank You in advance!
589617 tn?1218719782 I take metoprolol (aka lopressor) for PVC's and occasional SVT. It has been good for me....my PVC's are not gone, but they are not as "forceful" and therefore are easier to ignore. The SVT is very infrequent for me in the first place, so I can't say that the metoprolol has had anything to do with the fact that I haven't had any for nearly 1.5 years, but I'm not going to stop the drugs to find out :-).
Avatar f tn s another way to look at this. I too have recently recovered from pneumonia which I was also given a Z-Pack. I still can feel the irritation in my lungs and that irritation is more sensitive to PVCs and makes me feel them more than usual. You may have had them all along but now your lungs and surrounding tissues are irritated and healing and perhaps that makes you feel you PVCs more than usual much like feeling your heart beat in your head when you have a head ache.
Avatar f tn I have tried other beta blockers including metoprolol. Metoprolol did not agree with me. It actually caused my heartbeat to race, or jump quickly, when I would get exerted. I went back to atenolol 25 mg.
Avatar f tn Is there a reason to be taking Lisinopril and Metoprolol at the same time if they are both indicated for hypertension?
