1464004 tn?1384139333 may hit you harder than someone, with more body mass. Also remember that Metoprolol tartrate has a half life of about 6 hours, meaning every 6 hours or so, your body metabolizes the dose to 50% of the original amount. So 25 halves to 12, then halves to 6, then to 3mg after 18 hours. You mention ablation in your profile. It could be a good way to get rid of it forever. A lot of folks here along with myself have hadn't done. Penn has sooe great docs.
612551 tn?1450025775 Following are my observations on day two of substituting Atenolol 25 mg twice a day for Metoprolol 25 mg twice a day.. both are regular, for Metoprolol it is called Tartrate, I think the Atenolol comes in only one normally longer lasting form. Today in the early afternoon, following my third 25 mg dose of Atenolol at about 9 AM, I noticed some dizziness when I rose from a time sitting.

Avatar f tn I had been on Metoprolol Tartrate .25 2x day for over ten years. No really bad side effects other than drowsy in a.m. Did gain weight about 25 lbs through the years, but I don't really blame metoprolol, but blame over eating. On Weight watchers now and have lost 14 lbs. I was Prescribed metoprolol and aspirin after diagnosis of 50% blockage in main heart artery to reduce BP and prevent angina. Then After 11 years started getting rapid heart beat.
Avatar f tn Because of the recent shortage of metoprolol succinate, my general practitioner refilled my prescription as metoprolol tartrate, but without informing me of the change. I was previously taking 25 mg in the am and 12.5 mg in the evening of the generic Toprol XL. Now I am taking 25 mg in the morning of generic Lopressor, and another 25 in the evening, but less than a full 12 hours apart. For example I will take the 25mg at 7 am, another 12.5 at 2pm and another 12.5 at around 6 or so.
612551 tn?1450025775 Regarding Metoprolol vs Atenolol, I believe all Metoprolol is sold as Metoprolol Tartrate, but it depends if you take the extended release version or not. I know in Norway, you can get both, but I would not exaggerate if I said that 99% is sold in the extended release version. The drug is the same - but in extended release the pills/capsules are made to slowly release the active substance.
Avatar f tn i also got very nausus when this would happen...Since then Ive been on Metoprolol tartrate which has helped greatly, although I am not tolerating the medication well, i am very tired on it and sometimes cannot do my normal everyday tasks without needing to rest. I even got fired from my job due to feeling like this. I am currently on 25mg in the first 12 hours of the day and 12.5 mg at night when i go to bed.
Avatar m tn Unfortunately the refill arrived as 50MG Metoprolol Tartrate. Now as I understand it, the difference between the two is Metoprolol Succinate is Extended Release and Metoprolol Tartrate is Immediate Release...is this a big deal? Not sure if this was planned or an oversight.
