Avatar n tn I HAD AF ABLATION NINE DAYS AGO. I AM ON TIKOSYN 250MCG, TWICE DAILY AND METOPROLOL TARTR 12.5 MG TWICE/DAY (THIS PRESCRIBED ONLY WHEN I EXPERIENCED A BEAT OF 160 AFTER RETURNING HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL) . I AM 78 AND IN GOOD SHAPE, EXCEPT FOR THE HEART ISSUE. SINCE THE ABLATION I HAVE EXPERIENCED PERHAPS THREE SHORT EPISODES OF GOOD HEART RHYTHM. MOST OF THE TIME THE HEART HAS BEEN ARRHYTHMIC, SAPPING ENERGY. I WONDER IF THIS PROLONGED ARRHYMIA IS NORMAL AFTER SUCH A PROCEDURE.
Avatar n tn She wore a 24 hour heart monitor and our general practioner said it reported over 800 pvcs in that 24 hour period. He prescribed metoprolol tartr 25 mg 2x a day and scheduled her to see a cardiologist next week. I have a few questions... 1) Is this perscription necessary before she is seen by a cardioloigist (I understand it is used to decrease the number of pvc's) 2). What would be considered a dangerouse number of pvc's over a 24 hour period? 3).
Avatar f tn I haven't taken the beta blockers (metoprolol tartr 25 mg) because my pulse hasn't been high and I take Xanax so I'm worried that it will bring my blood pressure too low. She feels that wouldn't happen. I will discuss it with my pysch at my next appt but in the meantime any thoughts? I hate taking any medicines and really don't take any except Xanax and rarely antibiotics. BTW, my WBC are high as well as my platelets. And my TIBC is low. Do these any relation to the thyroid.
