519035 tn?1348279373 I haven't been dx with hashi just yet, may find out today. I'm on Toporol XL (Metoprolol XL) and it works for me. I think I could have been having sx of hashi in 2006 with a TSH of 4.7 and HTN, but PCP only treated me for HTN. Go figure.

Avatar n tn It did reveal pvc's but he said nothing to worry about. I am currently on metoprolol for the BP and he gave me a Rx for ranitidine which I haven't started because the pharmacy sheet said not to take the two together so I wanted to check with him but just put it off. (I am also a little scared to take it after the increased pain in my sternum while taking prilosec).
Avatar n tn He is on lots of different kinds of medication (altace, nitro patch, metoprolol,Ranitidine, Lipidor.)I don't understand really what this all means except he has only the two main arteries left. He quit smoking immediately when the doctor told him the heart attack was caused from smoking. (mind you , he has been a welder for 25 years! which inhales smoke daily especially in such confined areas of the ship.
Avatar n tn I ALSO WAS DIAGNOSED WITH HIGH BP AND ONE OF THE SYMPTOMS OF METOPROLOL(MY MEDS), IS HIGH LIVER ENZYMES. I'M IN THIS FORUM HOPING SOMEONE WILL TELL ME OF A BETTER REASON THAN ALCOHOL BUT IN MY CASE IT PROBABLY IS THE BOOZE. HIGH LIVER ENZYMES MEAN YOUR LIVER IS UNDER STRESS. A COUPLE OF FACTORS CAN CAUSE THIS, ALCOHOL BEING ONE OF THEM. GO ONTO A SEARCH ENGINE AND PUNCH IN LIVER ENZYMES. IT'LL BRING UP SOME GOOD STUFF. MY ULTRASOUNDS WERE FINE A YEAR AGO AND ARE FINE NOW.
1210142 tn?1266080631 ) I started taking 40 mg of Pantoprazole in the morning/before breakfast/ and one Ranitidine at night. Doctor suggested after a month to stop Ranitidine and continue only with Pantoprazole. I really hope this is going to help my undiagnosed chest pains.

I'm six foot weighing about 230 lbs. What can I do to get my liver count down and reduce the number of pills i'm taking each day. This discussion is related to acid.
Avatar f tn Yes, I agree completely. Allow me to say: Metoprolol is a really crappy treatment for palpitations. My cardiologist recommended me to switch from propranolol, because metoprolol was a selective betablocker. That's right. But the problem is, metoprolol doesn't affect anxiety, because it only blocks the cardiac specific beta receptors. In other words, you will get a minor decrease in heart rate compared to no beta blocker, but the anxiety sustains and you keep having high adrenaline levels.
1198633 tn?1341185988 doctor on April 20th to further discuss my problems and on May 10th I'm going to see an allergy specialist to find out the severity of my allergies and get a needle test done. I am on Protonix and take ranitidine to try and relieve some of these problems but they usually give me little to no relief. I also take antacids basically on a daily basis. I've been taking Acidophilus also but I'm about to stop it because it doesn't seem to help either. My G.P. started me on a high fiber diet.

Avatar m tn THIS WAS THE MAGIC BULLET! 75mg of Ranitidine (Zantac)----one first thing in the morning and one before dinner at night, and the arrhythmias WENT AWAY COMPLETELY. Your results may vary, so please don't take this as medical advice--I just wanted to let you and the group know (and the MD's and cardiologists if they are reading this) that there is a definite connection between digestive tract acid, vagal nerve stimulation (or destimulation) and heart arrhythmias.
221122 tn?1323014865 They came out of the blue. I've heard that Zantac, Pepcid, ranitidine (generic Zantac), and other H2 blockers can also cause heart beat irregularities. I need advice in tapering off. There's B-12 deficiency in my family and osteoporosis, other reasons to get off PPIs and H2 blockers. But I don't know how to safely taper off the Nexium without risking serious esophagus problems. My doctors are useless. They think I'm making it all up.

Avatar n tn Flushing, or blushing, is associated with the erythema (reddening caused by dilation of capillaries) of the face, neck, and shoulder, after consumption of alcohol. There is some evidence that by ingesting Ranitidine (such as Zantac) prior to usage, you can bi-pass this metabolic pathway. Flushing can be caused by many factors listed below. Have you tried cutting out the alcohol to determine if it may be the cause? Let me know if this helps. Cheers!
