20748650 tn?1521032211 Her resting bp is 90/50, resting heart rate 40-55, pvc burden 6%. This is with metoprolol, which has been successful at suppressing symptoms. Since starting trinessa however the following has been noted; A return of symptomatic PVC's and effective loss of burden control Metoprolol observed at home. Parasthesia in very specific regions well established as inmervated by cranial nerves, particuarly around the trigeminal. Has anyone ever heard of these before?
Avatar f tn Hello my name is April and I have recently been diagnosed with PVC and was prescribed metoprolol I wanted to know if anyone has taken this for there PVC and if so did it work?
Avatar m tn I take Metoprolol for a thick heart muscel & pvc, which it doesn't help much with the pvc's, Diltiazem was just added 120mg once a day. My doctor seemed somewhat reluctant to add the Diltiazem but said lets try it. My Blood pressure has been around 155/95. His reluctance just seems to scare me. Should I try it or should I not? If I do start taking it should I take it with the metoprolol or at different times?

Avatar f tn The Toprol XL (Metoprolol Succinate) tablet should not be cut in half. Doing so defeats it's time release properties. If you want to mess with dosages (and I don't think you should), the generic Metoprolol Tartrate (referred to as just Metoprolol) can be cut in half without a problem. I take an odd, 75mg. Per day; 50mg at dinner, and 25mg (half a pill) upon rising. Think of your dose level as a "starting dose level".
Avatar f tn I have been suffering with severe PVCs for years now every other beat was a PVC and extremely aware of them, not only was it terrifyingly frightening with the fear of death impending but it just put me in such a deep depression I couldn’t function normally and I’m a nurse. I tried every medication they gave me metoprolol, propranolol, atenolol, etc. until they finally hit on a new medication by Bystolic! I hit the jackpot, it was like night and day!
Avatar f tn A holter Monitor was done and showed 30,000 (about 25% of my heart beats) PAC and PVC combination PVC 3 to 1 PAC basically (and this was done on what I would call a "good day" not a day where I was feeling a lot) Echo was basically normal...apparently they could not rule out/or I may have some slight defect that increases my risk for a stroke and I have Mitral valve prolapse (very mild) Stress Echo was fairly normal...
Avatar f tn hello...i have been having pvc for about 2 years now and im on metropolol 50 mg a day and i want to know if anyone has took metroplol for pvc;s? i want to stop taking them but dont know if i should . my pvc;s are benign . any suggestions?
Avatar n tn I am a 53 yo man diagnosed ~8 years ago with lone paroxysmal atrial flutter and afib. Long term history of endurance sports but nothing outrageous - running 20 miles a week since my teens. Episodes are generally less than an hour, but frequent - typically one every day or couple of days. Have been trying a "pill in a pocket" appproach - that is, I will take some metoprolol (50 mg tablet) if the tachycardia lasts more than 5 minutes.
7013001 tn?1400979002 t be helpful for the PVC. It seems uni focal are easier to ablate. I take Metoprolol for the PVCs. Since they are benign I mostly try to ignore them.
Avatar n tn I've been dealing with PAC's/PVC close to five years now. They come and go in intensity but have lately been really active. I finally started to take Metoprolol 25mg 2x day. I haven't noticed any significant change in improvement other than maybe they don't feel as strong but they are still there. At what point do I discontinue the meds or is there some valuable benefit to a beta blocker as far as overall heart health.
15256956 tn?1439425231 Plus I get short of breath now easier and even have some mild dizziness ever since I was switched from Metoprolol 150 twice a day to Bystolic 20 once a day. The Cardiologist insists my ectopics are harmless given my history and despite my BP. I WANT to start walking and riding my bike and drop weight which would do wonders for me. I want to be able to walk down to the cafe like I I used to with my backpack and sketchbook & laptop and create like I used to but I'm terrified.
378273 tn?1262097621 Also, I still have Afibs about once a week and am now getting some weird PVC-types ( I think) Usually my PVCs consist of a pause between some of my beats (about 2 seconds maybe) and that's it. Now however, I feel some normal beats and then a tiny, almost un-noticable beat kind of piggy-backing on the next beat. I have never had those before I started the betablocker. I know beta blockers don't cause irregular heart beats so maybe I've had these little mini PVC's all along.
Avatar m tn Im 47 and my pvc recently have been accurring more regularly and its worrisome, I have anxiety so I cant do anything with constant thinking about it and I feel everyone.... anybody taken anything natural that helps? or any over the counter meds..
Avatar f tn It has happened many times a day. So is that pac or pvc? Would the high dose of metoprolol not help with that? I have major anxiety over this and I don't know how to control it. It just seems to get worse.
Avatar n tn She wore a 24 hour heart monitor and our general practioner said it reported over 800 pvcs in that 24 hour period. He prescribed metoprolol tartr 25 mg 2x a day and scheduled her to see a cardiologist next week. I have a few questions... 1) Is this perscription necessary before she is seen by a cardioloigist (I understand it is used to decrease the number of pvc's) 2). What would be considered a dangerouse number of pvc's over a 24 hour period? 3).
1425157 tn?1311651679 I have severe health anxiety-gad and panic attacks--i also get pvc/pac and strong palpitiations at night -that keep me awake i was on antidepressants for years and was weaned off 2 months ago--the thinking that if my hearts structurally fine etc i shouldnt be worried and dont need the meds-- so now i am mentally ok-- except stresed from teens and working 2 jobs but the heart palps the forceful beats are every time i am trying to sleep and i cannot stand it and get very anxious from it-the ectop
Avatar n tn The doctors were able to control it with Amiodarone and Metoprolol. 5 months ago I gradually stopped taking the Amiodarone and metoprolol and soon after my heart went irregular. I do not take any drugs now and suffer from PAC, PVC and PAF. This all is strange to me and cannot get any convincing answers from the doctors. I am wondering if anyone else has experienced what I am going through.
Avatar n tn tried to change me to Terazosin but the flutters were intollerable so he put me back on Metoprolol. My BP is high on the 50 mg of Metoprolol (169/90) so he wants to give me 50 mg Metoprolol in the morning and another 50 mg at night. I'm worried that this will increase the heart flutters. I'm so sick of bananas...I can't imagine eating even more of them. Other potassium rich foods don't seem to give me the benefit that bananas do. Any advise?
548091 tn?1348947013 I am a 40 years old female. I am diagnosed with PVC (Premature Ventricular Complex) which means irregular heart beats. My heart is health but the cause of the palpitations unknown. Could be some sort of electric circulation or blood circulation problem my Doctors say. I used Metoprolol for almost two months for 25 mg a day but possibility to increase if the problem persists. I went up to 50 mg. But I didn't see any effect of the drug so I stopped it.
Avatar n tn I'm 55 and four months ago I was diagnosed with a mild PVC. I had been on a mild diuretic, Chlorthalodone, for my slightly elevated BP. My cardiologist replaced it with 25mg of Metaprolol. At first, the Metaprolol seemed to lessen the PVC's, but after a few months now, I don't believe that it is reducing their occurrence whatsoever. Also, my BP has crept back up into the 130's, which is where it was before I started taking the diuretic or Metaprolol.
Avatar n tn I think the BP may benefit from a mild beta blocker, say something like 25 mg of Metoprolol a day. This is a prescription medication, I am just suggesting and it requires your doctor's approval. That med should lower your BP, but it may also lower you HR a little. You say low 40s, I take that not to mean 39 or less. Some people have very efficient cardiovascular systems, and if you are not dizzy nor faint nor have headaches...
Avatar f tn I felt like a flip flopping of my heart. It felt like a strong PVC. Then I feel my heart pause in what I think is a compensatory pause following the PVC, but the pause lasted for longer than I expected. I felt like my heart had stopped for about 3 seconds. I had a large thump after that and I stopped feeling the strong movements. Due to my panic over the pause, my heart started racing.
Avatar m tn Rule out medication, as I am only taking metoprolol 25mg per day, and I have got off it for 2 weeks to see if my symptoms improved and my PVC's worsened. Getting off the metoprolol did not change anything. Does that sound familiar, or do you have any idea what would cause my symptoms? A recent sonogram showed good heart function with an EF of 65. Many thanks for your help and comments,,, Bob A.
