Metoprolol off label uses

Common Questions and Answers about Metoprolol off label uses

toprol

Avatar f tn After reviewing the medications I was already taking (to avoid any conflicts) she recommended Lamotrigine for my intense anxiety. I am VERY familiar with off-label drug uses, but I can find no information re: the use of this drug for my situation. It is a drug used for bi-polar disorder and seizures. I thought that Atavan would be the drug of choice, and after reading more about Lamotrigine, I have become actually quite shocked about this recommendation.
Avatar n tn Though there is a good theoretical basis for the use of arimidex on endometriosis, I believe that this is still an off-label indication for the drug and the clinical basis for its use is still from phase II clinical trials (studies with still low number of patients). Until such time that the indication of endometriosis can be demonstrated in large phase III clinical trials, the use of arimidex for endometriosis is still controversial.
Avatar f tn I would also say that 25mg. of Metoprolol is a very low dose. I believe one of the primary uses of Diovan is for congestive heart failure. Do you know if you have this condition? Perhaps it's that, or the Diovan that's making you feel fatigued. Metoprolol is now a second line drug for controlling blood pressure. There arenow newer drugs available that will do the job without the unwanted side effects.
Avatar f tn I have been doing a lot of research about all of the medicines that could help, including off label uses. Some of them I took for other causes but noted that there were no changes in my migraines while I was on them. I have tried all of them for atleast 2 weeks each, if not more. Very few of them helped in the least, and the ones that had a good effect merely dulled the pain to a semi-tolerable level. I'm soooo frustrated with this. If any one has any ideas, I would be supremely grateful.
100019 tn?1335919717 For genotype 1 patients who cannot take interferon, the panel recommends sofosbuvir plus the HCV protease inhibitor simeprevir (Olysio), with or without ribavirin, again for 12 weeks. This off-label regimen has not been through full Phase 3 testing, but performed very well in the Phase 2 COSMOS trial.
Avatar n tn Did your doctor prescribe it to you for this? If not, STOP right now...'experimenting' with prescription medications, which are extremely addictive can NEVER have good outcomes.
Avatar f tn They all have reported feeling better daily - this off label approach is a God Send! Now I will finish out the 12 weeks - they will do the viral load test again at that time and then 12 weeks post treatment test again to declare me officially SVR!!! NO HORRIBLE INTERFERON OR RIBAVARIN THIS TIME FOR ME!!
1635208 tn?1300807160 Hi welcome to the Hepatitis C community Olysio per the prescribing information sheet is intended to be used with interferon and Ribavirin. The same applies to Sovaldi. Per prescription they are not used together. However there have been clinical trials using them together "off label" and they have been shown to be highly effective when used together. You can web search for Cosmos clinical trial cohort 1 and cohort 2 to see study results.
Avatar n tn any one out there uses metoprolol for blood pressure and heart rate it seems to work but dont like the floating feeling i get
Avatar m tn I currently take Amiodarone 200mg a day, Metoprolol 100mg a day, Prilosec OTC 40mg a day. I have occasional Atrial Fibrillation. I was put on the Metoprolol in 2004 (my dosage is much lower now) and the Amiodarone in July 2008. I suffer greatly from panic attacks and extreme anxiety. My doctor prescribed Zoloft for me at 25mg a day for two weeks, then 50mg a day thereafter. He knows all the meds I currently take, of course.
1679876 tn?1304743615 My son has severe asthma and uses a separate steroid inhaler (Flovent) and uses his ventolin inhaler for emergencies.

Avatar f tn Were you on the extended release Metoprolol? How long had you been on it before you got off?
Avatar n tn I received conflicting instructions when going off Metoprolol in preparation for my ablation. The EP told to just stop it 3 days prior, but my cardiologist told me to cut back slowly from my then normal dose of 100mg/day. Becasue I had received the latter instructions several weeks out from my day, I decided to wean myself off slowly. Metoprolol (Lopressor) is a commonly prescribed, easily tolerated beta blocker. I've been on it for 6 years on doses ranging from 25mg to 200mg.
Avatar m tn they are famous for causing fatigue. I take Metoprolol - and I have found that I have adjusted somewhat. The medication still takes it toll on my energy (I think it is the problem, I am a mere 70). Metoprolol is a selective BB, and is not supposed to affect one's mental state, but it may be the source of your dream problem. I have what I call "trouble mares" every night and have for years.
Avatar f tn My doctor had me trying to wean off too quickly, so I am now using the Point of Return (Label Me Sane) protocol, which is a very slow taper of 5% per week. It also uses very good supplements to get you feeling normal before they even allow you to start the taper. The testimonials are extremely positive. Check out the Label Me Sane website if you want more information, and good luck to you. These meds are indeed terrible things.
1028452 tn?1537448484 Is neuropathic because a nerve compression or damage problem has not been found, or is cannabis like the off-label uses for pure anti-depressants? "The patient stopped complaining, so it works!" Despite the patient being too doped out to remember pains, difficulties, or otherwise have a coherant thought... Awaiting the pitchforks and torches.
443862 tn?1237999439 I would continue to take the Metoprolol as your doctor instructed. In August I was taken off sotalol and put on Toprol 25mg twice and day, then in November my EP cut it down to 25mg once a day. At first I felt my heart race, but eventually it did stablize. In February I am hoping to been taken off the toprol completely.
1124887 tn?1313754891 In addition, electrophysiologists or general cardiologists can prescribe antiarrhymic medications “off-label” to treat PAC’s. These medications are more commonly used to treat ventricular arrhythmias, but they can also be used to treat PAC’s. However, these interventions come at a risk including complications fro procedure or side effects from medications.
Avatar m tn Is the person having memory problems? If not, why are they taking it? There are lots of drugs that have "off label" uses for lots of drugs so perhaps it was prescribed for something else. The doctor can probably let you know what that is and why it's being used. I don't think it will hurt, but there are side effects in every med and it would be a good idea to check drug interactions, etc. Try Drugs.com. If you cannot speak to the patient's doc, can you call your own?
459663 tn?1236000877 it is supposed to be a non-narcotic pain med....alot of dr's using for off-label uses...for insomnia and anti-dep. ...it does have alot of drug interactions so be careful...was on it a couple of times...no problem quitting.....all the best......
687614 tn?1244197979 Hi, I was taken off of Bystolic and put back on Metoprolol XL 100 mg 1 times a day. I take it in the afternoon at about 2:00pm. But when I get up in the morning it tends to be around 98-100 and when I exert like take a shower it is around 130 range. BP is in the normal range finally. Cardiologist wants me to take this dose in the morning and now add 50 mg of the XL in the evening.
443862 tn?1237999439 Hahaha - I know this is an old post - but this week - My GP decided that instead of refill my prescription - she wanted to 'see' me rather than refilling it - even though I told the receptionist that I didn't have any left. I have an appointment tomorrow. Wean off the metoprolol - I guess the doctors don't know that!
Avatar m tn About 8 days ago, I started taking Lexapro for anxiety... Unfortunately, my dad takes a beta blocker (Metroprolol) for some sort of heart problem. The two medications look almost identical, and they're in the same medicine cabinet. Tonight, I accidently grabbed my dads pill bottle and got a quick glimpse of the label, and realized they weren't my pills, but I had taken one the night before and maybe more.
