Avatar n tn Thanks guys, I don't have high blood pressure at all. i just have a fast heart rate. my blood pressure is usually around 102/85 and i've always had a normal or low reading. I have a ton of palps and skipped beats so he prescribed the beta blocker for days where it's bad i'm guessing just to help calm me down. I still however can not get rid of this headache every time i get up to walk around.
Avatar n tn This isn't a blood pressure question but the medication is for high blood pressure so I thought you might could help me. I have been having some strange symptoms since starting metoprolol as a migraine preventative. My head feels like it weighs a ton, and there is a lot of pressure up there, too. I've also been experiencing blurry vision and some concentration issues. I also take lithium, trazodone and neurontin and a rare xanax.
443862 tn?1238003039 I curse the doctor that threw me on metoprolol, for high blood pressure. Without finding out the cause of the high blood pressure in the first place. Which turned out to be hyperthyroidism. Now that I am weaned off, newly so, by yet another doctor, I am terrified of the side effects I am experiencing that I was not warned about. And I am questioning the competence of the PA who told me to take the last 6 halves of metoprolol 25mg every other day and then quit taking them period.
Avatar m tn My bp has been running high for some time now and cant seem to get it under control even taking bp meds. Went to doctor 2/3/2012. She changed one of my meds and added another one. It seems my bp has gotten worse. Placed a call to the doctor Monday and they increased one of my meds (lisinopril) from 40mg per day to 80 mg. Increased another one (indapamide 2.5mg) from 1/2 pill per day to 1 pill per day. Prior to going to bed my bp will have dropped from about 180 to 160.
Avatar m tn Hi i woke up this morning with a bad headache my blood pressure read 170/101 pulse 68. I took two metoprolol tartrate 25 mg my blood pressure dropped to 140/83 pulse48 im resting in a recliner with my feet up . Wanted to know about my pulse rate is it too low.
Avatar f tn Well the latest thing is that one of my docs wants me to take Metoprolol 100mg to help with an occasional fast heartrate. My blood pressure is normally very low, around 95/65 or so, sometimes a little higher if I'm working lol! My heartrate doesn't usually get that high but sometimes it will spike to the 130's, but not that often. I'm worried about taking this med b/c it seems like it could lower my bp even lower, and I've had episodes in the past where I've fainted due to low bp.
529295 tn?1212775780 My husband is suffering with uncontrolled high blood pressure. He is 54 years old and in excellent physcial condition. He recently went to the hospital because he was having chest pains and pain in his left arm. EKG show satisfactory and took a stress test which showed no ischemia. He was released from the hospital and despite the emergency room test his BP continues to be erratic and uncontrolled with numbers like 161/95 after taking 4 pills.
Avatar n tn 2) Do you suffer from high blood pressure (hypertension)? - In that case we need to start you on an alternate Blood Pressure lowering medication. 3) "A food sensitivity occurring months later" – has your physician confirmed that this is a side effect? This can have important implications on the treatment if the sensitivity and hives do not subside after stopping. Any way, you can stop the medication without tapering.
Avatar n tn My resting HR is bradycardic, but it works for me without light-headedness or need to reduce activity. Metoprolol doesn't seem to do much for my blood pressure, but it's always been in the normal range. Unfortunately, even on metoprolol, I have breakthroughs and I think the longer you take it, the less effective it gets. (I'm talking years, here--I've been on this type of medication for almost 30.) I was switched from atenolol, so the side effects vary by person.
Avatar n tn THe reason I deiced to post for some advice is because she just prescribed me metoprolol, which she said is baby safe for a pregnancy. Its been three years since my last daughter was born, and we'd really like to have one more baby. But to be honest I'm a little nervous about a pregnancy on BP meds and was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience that might sway are decision to try to have another baby one way or another?
Avatar f tn long story short, I was admitted for the high heart rate, the Ativan bottomed my blood pressure everytime I stood and I too, slept for over 24hrs. I was put on Metoprolol succinate 12.5 once a day nad that has prevented my HR from geeting too high(now it only gets up to 140-150 if Im excited, before it was 200bpm). As far as surgery, I was told that I would have to stop it one day prior to the surgery.
378273 tn?1262101221 I do not have a history of high blood pressure. However, when I went into my a-fib attacks, my blood pressure would shoot up during the attacks. My EP thought that maybe it was caused by me being anxious during the a-fib attack.
Avatar n tn Metoprolol, a beta blocker, us used primarily to help reduce high blood pressure. It also slows your pulse rate. The heart has to work less hard and that is probably why we feel the pacs pvcs less. I do not think it is designed to stop them. I would not stop taking them without first talking to your doc.
Avatar f tn Im scared to take it cause ive been having really bad reactions to meds lately my blood pressure and sugar is staying high and my heart rate dr wants me to take half of 25mg twice a day for my heart rate i also have MS im diabetic and have coronary heart disease and ive had a heart attack and triple by pass so should i try this i may have to have a heart cath soon to see why heart rate is high i need advise please
Avatar f tn I was already on the Lopressor for my blood pressure when I developed SVTs. After reading up on the Amiodarone and having to be monitored while taking that drug, I decided I didn't want to take it anymore. I told my doctor about my decision, but stopped abruptly. The SVT symptoms had diminished at that time any way. My symptoms have never returned so far. If you are experiencing those symptoms again, I would ressume the metoprolol and discuss this with your doctor again.
Avatar n tn I had gone to the ER prior to the office visit because my blood pressure was elevated and my arm was burning. They said it wasn't my heart, but maybe a panic attack. I had gone to a cardiologist and had a stress test, ekg, etc. Everything came back normal, but he said I should take it to lower my heart rate and bp( it was just slightly elevated) until I lost some weight. I have been on it for 6 weeks twice a day.
Avatar m tn About 3 weeks ago i tapered off metoprolol of which my last dose was 1 1/2 weeks ago. everything went fine but now am having issues with blood pressure spikes, chest pains. tachy-cardia spells and dizzyness. I really feel crummy. My thinking was that I was having withdrawls from not taking metoprolol but why the symptoms after almost two weeks from taking it? I am tempted to go back on the drug to alleviate these symptoms as they are kind scary.
Avatar m tn My main problem is that now, just after I strain to pass stools and take my blood pressure, my blood pressure will be very high, the systolic will be normal but the diastolic will be very high (140/120 is very usual for me 10 minutes after I finish the toilet thing). I don't have a cardiologist who follow me right now so it's my Doc who order all kind of tests (several Holter monitors, chemical and nuclear stress test, several echo, doopler for the abdominal aorta).
Avatar n tn I also had very nice low blood pressure my whole life until I had an ablation. I now take atenol daily for my blood pressure which is kinda ironic since one of my main reasons for going ahead with the ablation was because I didn't want to be on beta blockers the rest of my life. I had the ablation do to a re-entry svt(200+bpm)in 2000 and haven't had the arrythmia since but the HBP started shortly after. Kinda makes you wonder.
Avatar m tn A change in the two recordings happens due to unequal blood flow to the two arms as may be seen in atherosclerosis, deep vein thrombosis, high blood pressure and cerebro-vascular accidents. Please consult a doctor (a cardiologist or go to ER) as soon as possible (immediately). Hope this helps. Take care!
475570 tn?1280944963 Who Is More Likely to Develop High Blood Pressure? People with family members who have high blood pressure, smoke, overweight, not active, alcohol to excess, and people who eat too many fatty foods or foods with too much salt...reduce your blood pressure risk and medication.
15256956 tn?1439428831 39 year old Male, overweight with high blood pressure (controlled), sleep apnea and under constant barrage of PVC's and PAC's. I'm 242 lbs. Back in 2010 I had a nuclear stress test as a routine investigation into my heart and it came back abnormal so off to the hospital I went for a Heart Cath. I was very much relieved when the Cardiologist there said my arteries were clean and normal. No heart disease.
1198633 tn?1341185988 I was taking metoprolol er 25mg in the morning, 50mg over night for hbp and palpitations. After an ER visit for high heart rate and blood pressure I've been put on 50mg metoprolol tatrate during day and 50mg at night. Since the switch I've been having really bad diarrhea and gas problems and at night my hands ache and feel kind of stuff but not swollen. Is this common?
Avatar f tn I also have high blood pressure, I go and see a high risk doctor, take a prescription med twice a day, and I go to a high risk clinic. Im also being induced.
