Metoprolol exercise

1124887 tn?1313754891 I have no trouble during exercise, no chest discomfort, dizziness or shortness of breath. Resting heart rate low 50s, max heart rate 200. Three years ago, I started getting lots of ectopics during easy exercise. Holter test confirmed PACs. Later it turned into brief runs of supraventricular tachycardia (not Holter verified). My doctor gave me Metoprolol and told me it was anxiety. Now, I'm on SSRI for my anxiety and still taking 25 mg Metoprolol a day. Since then I've never had SVT.
Avatar f tn I take this medication as well and have been on it for 3 years. I have never experienced depression while on this medication. I believe your doctor is correct in that this is not a side effect of the medication. I have not heard of weight gain from this medication as well. Maybe this is a side effect of your depression? In other words, you are eating more because you are depressed.
Avatar n tn I was told I have a preliminary A- fib condition and the EP starting me with drugs that are supposedly mild with minimum side effects . This includes Rythmol SR 225 MG twice per day and Metoprolol Succer 25 MG (a beta blocker) once per day. The combination of these drugs seems to have reduced the frequency of the SVE's but I feel I have lost the top end of my power running or on the bike.
569980 tn?1228329485 I went out to exercise yesterday - first time after taking the metoprolol and slitting my head on the tub. I was really nervous getting out there for the first time after beginning the meds. Aside from the anxiety the run was OK, but I was losing feeling in my right hand - it was kind of cold and tingly (air temp outside is in the upper 70's). Should I call this in to the cardiologist or am I just stressing myself out? I feel less sleepy today but still not "normal".
Avatar n tn is there a substitute for this metoprolol? it makes me stutter, forgetful... embarrassed...
Avatar f tn The valve has since been fixed but I am still In chronic fibrillation. It is being controlled with digoxin, metoprolol, and I also take coumadin and amiodarone. My concern is this: when I walk on the treadmill at 2.5 for thirty minutes my heart rate continues to stay at the resting rate of 80 - 90 beats per minute. Why is this? And is this bad?
Avatar f tn 49 yr old female..had PVCs..PACs..for 17 years...and, now, as of a 48 hr holter worn last week--ive had 4300 Supraventricular Ectopic beats. Never heard of SVE before, but my cardiologist told me it is NOT life threatening even though I have the beginnings of Coronary artery disease...have some "areas of narrowings" that I am working on thru diet, exercise and cholesterol meds. I can go days without a palpitation, and then bam. they are there with a vengeance.
Avatar f tn Before realizing all of this however, I was a paranoid nervous wreck thinking I was dying because my heart would just pound and race for no apparent reason, among other annoying symptoms. So, my cardio put me on 50mg of Metoprolol and gave me 1mg Ativan as needed. Well, the Metoprolol was hell getting past the side effects, but I did it just to not have my heart pound so hard and loud out of my chest. I used less and less Ativan as time went by.
Avatar f tn Hello, For the past few months, I have been noticing that when I work out intensely, I begin feeling light headed and nauseous. I went to a cardiologist and wore a Holter monitor for 24 hours and the results showed my heart rate going up to 200 while exercising (no arrhythmias, just really fast "normal" beats). The doctor suggested I either try regulating my heart rate myself, or go on 25 mg of beta-blockers (metoprolol).
Avatar m tn 25 mg extended release, which is obviously not enough, though I feel great in terms of strength and alertness and stamina, that were all seriously diminished when I was taking Propranolol. So, now I am wondering: I definitely need to go up at least to 50 mg, but should I do a 50 mg Metoprolol once a day, or can I take the 25 mg tablets twice a day (every 12 hours).
Avatar n tn Blood Pressure is good and Tachycardia is mostly under control. I can exercise and get heart rate to 160, but not much above that which is good. Would it be good to switch to help raise HDL or should I stick with the Beta Blocker?
Avatar n tn I am on 100 mg of Metoprolol (and 5 mg of Amlodipine) for high blood pressure. My pulse gets down to 44-48 but I do not feel faint. Should my Amlodipine be increased and my Metoprolol reduced since beta blockers reduce pulse rate?
Avatar m tn Since my pace maker, difib implant, I started using metoprolol succ er. When we changed to bisoprolol I have experienced ankle pain, now severe knee pain, and pain in implant area when trying to do bench presses. We have changed back to metoprolol starting today. Befeore implant I could run 25 miles a week without pain. Ater implant abot 10 -15 miles a week, less miles, slower pace with added days to rest in between. This is the first time I am experiencing pain ever. what should I do?.
Avatar f tn nobody out there on (Lopressor) Metoprolol? I just cant figure this out..its a Beta Blocker...just like the Atenolol I was on until last Thursday...when I was changed to this stupid Metoprolol...( Ive had 5 doses now)...its not all bad.. it DOES keep my heartrate nice and steady around 62 bpm..AT REST... but if I get up and move around--even walking across the ( very big) room here at work, my heartrate jumps to about 90 bpm in NO time.
Avatar m tn My cardio gave me some samples of 10 mg coreg to take once a day and a prescription to fill if the side effects from the metoprolol do not get any better. The side effects from the metoprolol have gotten a little better - I don't feel as exhausted, though as I type this my heart rate is 52 bpm. Plus when I go walking I can't get my heart rate above 95 bpm. Does any one have any comments on the pros and cons of carvedilol versus metoprolol?
Avatar f tn I take 12.5 mgs of Metoprolol Succinate ER and can hopegully wean off completely soon. My blood pressure has been staying in the 90s/60s and I have horrible headrushes after standing up (disturbances in vision and light headedness) and my heart seems to race when I stand up. The metoprolol hasn't seemed to help with lowering my heart rate much other than when I'm laying but is obviously working on my blood pressure plenty.
Avatar m tn I am on Metoprolol 100 mg/day. I feel good no side effects at all, never had. It was fine from the beginning. Before I was on Coreg . Same, it was fine. I do not think you have any side effects from medications at all. You do have anxiety. You should work on that. There are healthier ways to work on that instead of taking prescription drugs. It can harm you many ways on the long run.
Avatar m tn I attend cardiac rehabilitation where exercise is done for 34 minutes in treadmills bikes, etc. 17 minutes on two of these within an hour with warmup and cool down exercises. I have gone to two cardiologists. the first, at 4 weeks after surgery, said to take 25mg of metoprolol twice a day.and 10mg of simvastatin once a day.
Avatar n tn I am very healthy, exercise all the time and weight is fine. I have just had a bout over the past two weeks with hundreds of skipped/fluttering beats. I've eliminated morning caffine and have wine occasionally. I did take my BP and it is 146/83. The added does of beta blocker isn't working. They will probably need to adjust meds.....thanks for your support.
Avatar f tn who changed me to Quinapril twice a day because he said it was better for kidneys and added Metoprolol ER 50mg / day because my pulse was always around 90. My BP was usually 120 / 80 with the Ramipril. It's now down to 105 / 65 and my pulse is down to 70. BUT I can't stand how gassy the Metoprolol makes me. I am walking around passing gas all day without being able to control it. I also have had terrible dreams and think I am feeling depressed.
1280592 tn?1271522660 I had angioplasty in March 2004. Ever since I've been on a beta blocker ( Metoprolol- 25 mg ), Altace ( 5 mg ), baby aspirin, Lipitir 20mg. Recently I had an exercise stress test, reached just over 100% of my target rate ( 220 less age 66 ). My Mets were 11. Is that a good score? I am required to exercise an hour a day; I take an hour's brisk walk daily. But it appears that my walking speed of 4 miles an hour( 6 kilometres ) is not pushing my heart rate up to the 147 a minute required.
Avatar m tn My mother has a rapid irregular heartbeat (recently, sometimes even despite Metoprolol and Warfarin) and supposedly mild COPD with a possible touch of pneumonia and was hospitalized this weekend because she was saying she was having palpitations and was too tired to sit up and it was too hard for her to breath laying down.
