Avatar f tn How does this work? Do I take 25 mg of the metoprolol in the morning along with the verapamil, and then the other 25 mg of metoprolol at night? Do I take all 50mg of the metoprolol in the morning and the verapamil at night? I don't want to slow everything down too much. Help if you can please.
Avatar m tn Doctor has also presribed Hydrochlorot, 25 mg, Triam/HCTZ 37.5-25, Amlodipine, 5 mg. Each of these are taken 1 x daily. Other medications include Zetia for elevated cholesteral and Naproxen for severe osteoarthritis. I note on side effects that vomiting is listed but not how often. Has anyone experienced similiar episodes. Pat M.
Avatar m tn My docror reduced my Diovan to 40 mg and gave me Metoprolol Succinate 25 mg because he said my resting heart rate was in the upper 80's. I started having strange feelings while sleeping, like my heart or stomach was shivering and I used to wake up at night after a few hours of sleep because of this feeling. I was still feeling dizzy and I wanted to stop the Diovan or the Metoprolol Succinate. My cardiologist said I should continue the Metoprolol succ and I can stop the Diovan.
Avatar n tn i have been given the regular tablets, i guess. I take 25 mg in the am and the 25 mg 12 hours later. i am just not sure i should be taking these as episodes are 2-3 x per year. does it make sense to take these everyday for episodes that happen less often. I just dont know, i am a bit confused.....thats all......
Avatar m tn But I am an anxious person and was prescribed beta blocker(Metoprolol ER 50mg and Amlong which was changed to 25mg metoprolol ER and Losartan 25mg after 4 years). Yes I dont have any heart problems and nothing in my family and also not diabetic. My age is 40. Still taking metoprolol only and will go for a review soon and would sort things out. I am happy with metoprolol 50mg ER to Bisoprolol 5mg...
1933354 tn?1323362834 Keep in mind that when you switched from Toprolol ER (Metoprolol Succinate) to Lopressor (Metoprolol Tartrate), you lost the timed released advantage. If you were taking 25mg. pills of each medication, you are loosing a great deal of the latter drug's effectiveness as the day wears on. The half life of Metoprolol Tartrate is only 3-7 hours. So you must take it at least twice a day for it to be effective the entire 24 hour period. Also 25mg., once a day is a a very small dose.
Avatar f tn I had echoes, ekgs, holter monitors and a 30 day event monitor which caught also Nonsustained v tach and svt (I was told inappropriate svt). I was prescribed metoprolol ER 25 mg and I took the first dose this am about 3 hours ago. So far my pacs are worse- meaning I fee them even more and they are more uncomfortable. The intention was for the medication to help with the uncomfortable feeling of getting pacs. My questions are... Is the medication supposed to start working right away?
Avatar m tn I took Toprol xl for a time - 25 mg. I could not take a pill all at once, because my bp would drop too low. The nurse finally told me to break the pill in half and take half in the morning and half at night. That worked a little better. I ended up eventually on Atenolol which I have taken for 6 years. I take it in divided doses, as my bp or hr goes up or down. If my hr and bp are too low, I delay a dose. But I never just skip it.
Avatar m tn I take atenolol 25 mg for fast heart rate and while in ER, they gave me 50 mg Lopressor (which I believe is metoprolol), one time dose of Lopressor. About a day or two later, I woke up in middle of night with elevated blood pressure and somewhat tachycardia. The blood pressure was higher than what I was used to and I attributed it to not receiving any more Lopressor. It took me about 5 days to not feel affect of Lopressor, and I only took one dose. BP hit 158/100, high for me.
Avatar n tn I asked my cardiologist about reducing the dose of metoprolol to help alleviate some of the side effects I was having, and so we knocked it back to 25 mg/day (one 1/2 tablet 12 hrs apart) over the past couple weeks. The last two weeks, I developed a severe headache and neck aches, which were constant, and I was taking 2 extra strength Tylenol along with 1 Ibuprofen every 4-6 hours for the last couple days to try and stop them (recommendation from my internal medicine doctor).
Avatar m tn They gave me some Phos-Nak, an extra 25 mg dose of Metoprolol and sent me home. Cardiac enzymes were good they said. My most recent echo and stress test were good. My cardiologist has me on 25 mg of Metoprolol 2 x a day and wants to add 120 mg of cardizem, too. I also take Effexor XR 75 mg a day and ativan .5 mg as needed for the anxiety these things are causing me. I'm frightened all the time and it is no way to live.
Avatar m tn I am quitting Metoprolol Succ cold turkey because after being on it for five weeks, my heart rate and blood pressure have been good, but I had an anxiety attack so bad it sent me to the ER yesterday. After takiing 325 mg of baby asprin I went home fine. I am feeling withdrawals today, but my blood pressure is down. I developed severe insomnia and anxiety, and severe tingling in all my extremeties. It is hard to get in to see my doctor but I will ASAP.
214864 tn?1229715239 In its letter to Sandoz, the FDA states that, based on an inspection of a North Carolina plant in March 2008, Sandoz failed to appropriately validate the manufacturing process for Metoprolol Succinate (25 and 50 mg). Some lots were found to fail tests for content uniformity or dissolution. The FDA noted that Sandoz's practices represented a "moving target of quality." The FDA notes that Sandoz did not conduct timely investigations of lots that failed dissolution testing.
Avatar n tn I have taken Toprol xl 25 mg for about 5 years. My doctor switched me to metoprolol several months ago. When I filled my prescription this time, it was from a different mfg and I think I may be having problems with it as I just don't feel right. Could changing the mfg make a difference? ALSO, my doctor prescribed 50 mg to be cut in half for my prescribed 25 mg dose. Does cutting this tablet in half compromise the time release?
443862 tn?1237999439 I was on Metoprolol 25 mg er for 4 years. It made nervous at first and increasing gave me Eczema. If you don’t have heart disease and just high blood pressure, propanolol a Bateblocker, blocks anxiety by working on the Serotonin receptors in your gut as well as works to get your blood pressure down. But it is not a preferred cardio beta blocker for heart disease. I absolutely hate metoprolol. I believe I am allergic to it.
Avatar m tn I'm 35, white, 6'-4" (193 cm), 155 lbs (70 kg). I've been having premature atrial contractions (PACs) for about ten years. These were originally diagnosed by wearing an event/Holter monitor. They've always been asymptomatic (i.e., no lightheadedness, fatigue, syncope, etc.). Because I'm very thin and have a minor case of pectus excavatum, I tend to feel the palpitations quite distinctly, though especially while inactive and sitting or laying down.
Avatar m tn the particular beta blocker I was on (metoprolol 25 mg) made me really nauseous, made my heart actually race when I took it, and have me a headache all day. Is there a chance another beta blocker would be different? Or is there another form of treatment I can look into? I just don't really understand how the beta blocker helps prevent vaso vagal syncope. Has it been proven effective?
Avatar m tn Will see how things is going on the Metoprolol and will have to choose between the Metoprolol or the Propranolol... Also I need to find the good dose for me... 25 mg of Metoprolol in the morning and 25 mg 12 hours later is not working for me, I don't feel that the effect of the Metoprolol last more than 5 hours... so taking lower dose every 6 hours, like I do with the Propranolol, is by far better for me...
Avatar f tn does anybody have any experiences getting off metoprolol tartrate? I've been taking 25 mg a day (split in 2) for around 2 years now, I've occasionally gone to 50 mg a day but had to go back down Everytime. it was given to me because of PVC / slightly high blood pressure and sinus tach. it helped at first but I was sent to the ER 16 days ago for panic attack / tach due to smoking weed. ever since my symptoms have gotten so much worse.
Avatar f tn In 2014 I had arrhythmia from low potassium (2.4). The ER was able to convert it and have not had another episode since that time. The ER recommended I start seeing a cardiologist. At the time I was on 10 mg of enalapril twice a day. My pulse was high (90) and the doc recommended starting a low dose of Metoprolol (12-1/2 mg twice a day). This brought my pulse down to mid 60's. I was also prescribed (in the ER) 10 meq of potassium twice a day I assume for the rest of my life.
Avatar m tn I have suffered with taking diltiazem(180 mg ER) AND metoprolol (50 mg ER) for atril fibrillation for the past two and a half years. The side effects have been debilitating.. Both drugs have the same side effects and together and one or the other or both create what I can only describe as chaotic turbulence in my chest and pain in my left arm when the second drug kicks in.. My cardiolgist now wants me to add a blood thinner (xarelto) to my meds menu.
Avatar f tn who changed me to Quinapril twice a day because he said it was better for kidneys and added Metoprolol ER 50mg / day because my pulse was always around 90. My BP was usually 120 / 80 with the Ramipril. It's now down to 105 / 65 and my pulse is down to 70. BUT I can't stand how gassy the Metoprolol makes me. I am walking around passing gas all day without being able to control it. I also have had terrible dreams and think I am feeling depressed.
Avatar f tn I was also having a lot of anxiety and panic attacks at that time. I was prescribed metoprolol 25 mg. My blood pressure is usually normal and after taking the medicine it had been getting a little too low so I was told to take only half. My bp is still getting down to 92/60 at times and is making me feel tired and lightheaded. Has anyone experienced this? I am worried about my bp getting even lower and making me pass out. The nurse at my cardiologist office told me not to skip my dose.
9870921 tn?1481258967 I am on 100 mg of metoprolol tartrate twice a day, and yesterday I have stepped it down to 75 mg twice a day..talk about dizzy...whooo.. anyway I am going to have a ablation on wednesday for SVT. I was told to hold my meds the night before and morning of the procedure, I wasn't sure how safe that was, called the pharmacist and he said that was perfectly safe..the doctor also said after the ablation I may not need them at all, so yes I am confused.
