Metoprolol cough

Common Questions and Answers about Metoprolol cough

1933354 tn?1323366434 Keep in mind that when you switched from Toprolol ER (Metoprolol Succinate) to Lopressor (Metoprolol Tartrate), you lost the timed released advantage. If you were taking 25mg. pills of each medication, you are loosing a great deal of the latter drug's effectiveness as the day wears on. The half life of Metoprolol Tartrate is only 3-7 hours. So you must take it at least twice a day for it to be effective the entire 24 hour period. Also 25mg., once a day is a a very small dose.
Avatar m tn After a lot of dizziness and other pain, and discussions with my doctor, I slowly decreased my dose and have been Metoprolol free for two days. My cough, wheeze, pain etc has almost gone. I have immediately more energy and also no dizziness. My legs and ankles still hurt and I have tight calves. I hope my body returns to what it used to be. My palpitations and tachycardia settled a while back after being aggressively treated for iron deficiency anaemia.
Avatar f tn Ugh, I hate a lingering cough. Couple of things come to mind. First, coughs can last a long time. Once the airway and bronchial tubes get irritated, they take a while to get better. So the least little thing will cause a coughing jag (exertion, changing position to lay down, etc.). It can happen that it takes 2 months to get over a cough because of this. But there are other things to consider. You can get a type of asthma related to having been sick and this airway irritation.
Avatar m tn My mother 61 had angioplasty done on march 2009 with 2 DES LM & RCA. She has dry coughing some ten times a day. She is on plavix 75 metoprolol 50 rosuval 10 & ramipril 2.5. This discussion is related to <a href='/posts/show/253089'>After Angioplasty</a>.

Avatar f tn nobody out there on (Lopressor) Metoprolol? I just cant figure this out..its a Beta Blocker...just like the Atenolol I was on until last Thursday...when I was changed to this stupid Metoprolol...( Ive had 5 doses now)...its not all bad.. it DOES keep my heartrate nice and steady around 62 bpm..AT REST... but if I get up and move around--even walking across the ( very big) room here at work, my heartrate jumps to about 90 bpm in NO time.
Avatar n tn He has chronic dry cough, he cannot sleep last night. Has hardtime breathing when lay down. He got discharged from hospital fifth day of his surgery. I took him to hospital 2-3 times after surgery they said his lungs sounds ok so there is no need of x-ray. Any insights .
Avatar m tn A dry (throat clearing) cough is a common side effect of metoprolol tartrate, as well as lisonopril. The reasons are unclerar, but there is a genetic componant. If this drug is being presribed for blood pressurer ask your physician to consider a change to Losartan.
Avatar n tn Ive had this problem for about 3 years draining down my throat and trying to cough it up a yellow color I am taking Effexor 37.5 once a day Norvasc 5 mg a day, Zetia 10 mg a day, Metoprolol 50 mg a day Aspirin 81 mg aq day prilosec 20 mg a day would like your opinion. Thank you much.
Avatar n tn When did the shaking ang cough started? Is this before or after the prescription of metoprolol? Metoprolol is a beta-adrenergic blocking agent that is used for treating high blood pressure, heart pain, abnormal rhythms of the heart, and some neurologic conditions. Metoprolol is generally well tolerated. However, this drug may reduce blood flow to the hands and feet, causing them to feel cold. Smoking may worsen this effect. Some side effects include: symptoms of a very slow heartbeat (e.g.
Avatar m tn Are you taking metoprolol?... metoprolol does that to me..have to take toprol xl instead.. dunno just wondered...
1423357 tn?1511089042 Nov. 10, 2010 Day 3 at 50% the prescribed dose of Metoprolol. I had an active period last evening when I experienced a lot of PVC's and a couple of 7 or 8 beat runs of SVT. A couple of forceful coughs converted them before they swarmed the heart and drop into full SVT. I find I have two different types of events. I get these little runs sometimes when I can fell my normal rhythm beating underneath the SVT. They'll usually drop out on their own, or I'll give a hard cough, and it disappears.
Avatar n tn Hi, can you tell us the difference(s) between Altace (ramipril) and metoprolol? What different effects do they each have that are different from each other? Are there any long-term bad side effects to ramipril? And your opinion to a combination of aspirin and Plavix to decrease the bloodclotting potential of just aspirin alone? Thank you. Ross I.
Avatar n tn ~Can also be found as Metoprolol Succinate, Metoprolol Tartrate, Lopressor, Dutoprol, or Toprol XL These drugs are part of a combination to regulate your high blood pressure, so they don't interfere with each other. They work together, were you on just one medicine before you got on all three of these? Make sure you take them at the same time every night.
Avatar f tn My 86 year old mother has a history of high blood pressure. She has been on metoprolol, vasotec and norvasc for years. Her heart rate had stayed in the 60s for years. A few weeks ago, her heart began to race. (I am wondering if some of her medications were not correct from the pharmacy...or a mistake was made) She was hospitalized with AFIB and complained of a heavy feeling in her chest. She, also, had a cough.
Avatar f tn Been on Atenolol (for 15 years) then switched to Metoprolol when the Aten quit stopping the palpitations. Well..I havent felt "right" for a while now. Tired, always feel like I have a SLIGHT case of vertigo..not really I kept up with my workouts and every other crazy thing in my life. Went to the cardiac workout place on Wed of last week to workout, and I was telling the tecnician about how I had been feeling.
Avatar n tn I have had chest pains, shortness of breath and a dry cough for 2 months now. I can barely get through my exercise routine without gasping for air. In April 2008, I had similiar symptoms and had a stress echo which was "mildly abnormal". The cardiologist listened to my heart and told me that I had a "pronounced click" indicating mitral valve proplapse, and put me on 25mg Toprol XL twice a day, which seemed to take care of all the symptoms. Now all the symptoms are back.
1464004 tn?1384139333 It only went to about 160 BPM, a far cry from my usual 220/230, and lasted only about 10 minutes, a benefit of the Metoprolol I believe, but that long, long flutter (no I don't know exactly how long, felt like forever but probably really ten seconds or so) was very scary. It felt like it was never going back to a normal rhythm and it's felt kind of ,"off" ever since (although that may be all in my head). Anyone else ever get this?
Avatar m tn I had a PVI ablation a couple months ago and the EP took me off Fleccanide last week and kept me on 50 mg metoprolol. Since then infrequent PACs have turned to frequent (say 2-4 hrs a day of up to one beat in 3 of mostly skipped beats) which manifests itself as a "thud" which rises into the throat and sometime becomes a dry cough. Chest pains sometime "stingy" and other time "dull" which come and go.
Avatar m tn Sometimes every 6 beats and sometimes every 2 beats there will be one PAC. Sometimes it causes cough and sometimes brief dizziness. Never had palpitation. When I exercise it goes away completely. Two minutes after exercise my heart goes to below 85 from 135. Then PAC appears. I am taking Atenolol 25 mg but it does not make a difference. my questions: 1) is this dangerous? 2) should I get treatment or as many says, it is benign?
Avatar n tn I still have chest and neck pressure and fullness when I exert myself and even slightly at rest. I have an achy feeling in my chest and neck and my heart feels like it beats more rapidly when I exert myself. I also have a dry cough. The altace and metoprolo were stopped. I am still symptomatic.
Avatar m tn I have a weird breathing issue and a strange hacking cough. Not sure if it is my medications or voice box damage. The only thing I can figure out, there might have have been some minor damage to my voice box during surgery, but I talk fine. If it is my medications. I am going to have to make a decision whether to increase my stoke risk or keep coughing and hacking. I don't really know how much Pradaxa reduces the stroke risk.
Avatar n tn I have high blood pressure and GERD and noticed a CMV infection (not active) on a blood test result. I orginally was prescribed Metoprolol during a first visit to an ER with very high blood pressure 201/139. BP went down and I was released. The chest pains seemed to get worse with Metoprolol so my doc switched me to Benicar 20 mg. This didn't seem to bring the pressure down far enough so he prescribed 40mg Benicar.
Avatar f tn He diagnosed me with inappropriate sinus tachycardia, where my heart rate goes high for no reason, and put me on Metoprolol. On a follow up in August, I had an echo done and he continued with my beta blockers. My pulse still remains about 100-120 despite 250 mg of Metoprolol daily, and I had an incident where I attempted some yoga exercises and my pulse spiked to 220.
1423357 tn?1511089042 I don't know if the cardiologist thought I was blowing smoke, having never recorded one of my events, but when he saw the first recording, he called me immediately and upped my dosage of Metoprolol which had been cut back at my request. He immediately set up an appointment with a respected EP out of UMass Oct.12, 2010 The EP looked at the traces, and proclaims that it bears all of the markers of Wolff Parkinson White syndrome. It's abrupt and hits hard.
Avatar n tn i was confined to the ccu for monitoring and was given premixed lidocaine and metoprolol for my tachycardia...yes, i have tachycardias too.. my pulse is irregular too.. i was discharged yesterday but i still have the palpitations.. what food will i take and avoid.. what activities shuold i avoid.. will it get worse over the years.. by the way im having bad colds and cough, hospital acquired so im taking carbocesteine and vit c.. pls help me.. thank you..
Avatar n tn Flecainide does not raise blood pressure and metoprolol is sometimes used to lower blood pressure. If you blood pressures are high, it suggests you might need more blood pressure medication or that you are very anxious about the medication change (this can happen). If the benicar was stopped -- it sounds like it needs to be restarted. A generic ACE inhibitor like lisinopril is cheaper and works just as well.
Avatar n tn t help me, Saw Palmetto which helps for those special intimate times if your a guy. I gave up on Coreg, just gave me the shoots and chronic cough. Lasix also just makes me stupid/confused but I don&#39;t have a water retention problem anyway so that one was pointless. Just on Enalapril and Metoprolol extended release. Keeping my pressure in the 120-140 over 58-72 range with a HR in the 68-85 range.
Avatar f tn (sorry if this is to long) but a few months ago I ended up in the ER for extreme heart palpitations and shortness of breath I almost passed out while I was walking home (I was carrying two large pizzas and a small grocery bag full of stuff) so I went to the Er and they did some blood tests and they all came back normal.
