672586 tn?1280933658 The main reason I wanted to change meds was that my triglycerides have been particularly high since I started metoprolol, and I strongly suspect I'm insulin resistant, or on my way to that. My insurance "health coach" pointed out that metoprolol may increase triglycerides and suggested I might want to look into alternatives. I will take my first pill tonight; my last metoprolol was yesterday morning. I hope it will just make me tired and not cause problems. Thanks everyone.
Avatar n tn I am in perfect health in regards to testerone (849), cholesterol, triglycerides, exercise 6 days a week, and follow a great diet. I am 38 years old. Dont smoke or drink and never did.
378273 tn?1262097621 They gave it to me for 30days.. and I was not in a last resort situation. It caused my triglycerides to go over 600 and my HDL to go to 18 and before I took it I had normal numbers. It is a horrible drug. It is a half life type medication so the stuff stays in your system for a long time. I took it 3 years ago and my triglycerides are still 300 amd my hdl is 25.. I would like to choke that doctor who talked me into taking it..
730053 tn?1234534651 Hospital ran lipid panel showing LDL 68, Triglycerides 400, HDL 28, nuclear treadmill stress test that achieved hr of 150, BP held at 140/75 and revealed an ejection fraction of 67, small thrombosis below right artery, bigeminal and trigeminal PVCs and occasional PACs during recovery, none occurred during the test itself. Cardiac cath performed the next day revealed a re-narrowing of right artery. Above the narrowed section, a tear was discovered (presumed site of plaque rupture).
Avatar f tn Are there similar documents (guidelines, recommendations) regarding criteria for weaning patients off of lisinopril, metoprolol tartrate and aspirin ? What are the pre- and post conditions? By "pre-conditions" I mean which conditions must be met while on medication to start weaning a patient off of the drugs. And by "post-conditions" I mean which conditions must be met *after* a patient has been weaned off of the drugs?
Avatar m tn They sent me home with a beta-blocker (Metoprolol) and that slightly lowered my heart rate to the 90s and my BP is around 130/90. The doctors couldn't figure out the cause for the episode. I am resting at home at the moment, but I am concerned about taking the beta-blockers. Will this mask a larger issue? I read that higher HR rate typically is accompanied with lower BP, but with me it is the opposite. Also, right after I take the BB, I feel a bit numb and woozy ...
Avatar m tn Those things tend to raise triglycerides. High triglycerides can raise your risk for heart issues and also be a sign of a metabolic syndrome. You are still borderline at 177! They aren't considered high until over 199. https://www.mayoclinic.
Avatar n tn s on the monitor when you are having symptoms, you can ask your physician about treatment with a beta blocker like metoprolol tartrate or metoprolol succinate at a low dose to suppress these ectopic beats.
1027737 tn?1253103788 Hi, Can someone tell me what the difference between Metoprolol and Metoprolol Tartrate is? Thank You in advance!
Avatar m tn This year my triglycerides were at 535, I stopped taking a med and they went down to 212 over 3 last 3 months. My last lipid panel showed triglycerides 212, Cholesterol 191, LDL 122 and HDL 26. Results in 2020 were roughly the same numbers. I don’t really go to a General Practitioner unless it’s an emergency, do I need to see one regarding the slightly elevated triglycerides and the really low HDL? Would rather not go if not necessary. These numbers were fasting from Midnight on.
Avatar n tn My electrophysiologist recently put me on a beta blocker (Metoprolol) 25 mg twice a day for hypertension and a ton of other symptoms he said must be due to Neurocardiogenic Syncope. I was diagnosed with asthma a couple years ago and it seems as if the beta blocker is causing shortness of breath and a feeling that seems similar to how I feel after exercising, a sort of chest tightness I would say. Is this common for beta blockers to do to people with asthma?
Avatar n tn He has the shakes so bad he cannot eat, becuase he cannot eat he is losing his appetite and strength. They put him on a beta-blocker Metoprolol. He coughs so bad he chokes.
Avatar m tn I know there is a connection with HIV and high Triglycerides and such but I am unsure of if it would be the ART or the virus itself that can cause it? Reason I ask is I have had a couple of tests, but made a couple of mistakes since then...my lipid profile showed massive elevations in triglycerides (almost 1000) I drank a lot of soda and smoked so i know those had something to do with it.
Avatar f tn I recently had an exacerbation of svt requiring adenosine and an increase in my maintenance metoprolol dosage. I essentially lost a day of memory and have been forgetful and foggy headed. Just wondering if this is normal. I can't get any doctor I have seen to address this.
212161 tn?1599427282 hi my question is i had my blood work done my triglycerides were 480, i have been taking caltrate for bone loss i have took from 1200-1800 a day , when i take it right, it says it has medium-chain triglycerides in it , can this be causing mine to be so high and how dangerous is it to keep taking the caltrate.
Avatar m tn First time I have done a test and found that my triglycerides(Method-Enzymatic cholesterol esterase peroxide and found that the result is 527. How to reduce the same quickly.

Avatar f tn My Triglycerides are high its like 268 I now been exercising doing cardio no fried foods I also been counting carbs im 30yrs old my overall cholesterol is 161 I did weight 215 two weeks ago I now weight 206 I ate a burger before I got blood work done do you think that could have made the triglycerides high.
Avatar n tn I never know when they are going to come on and how strong they are going to be and how long they are going to last. The cardiologist has now put me on the 50mg of metoprolol/daily and 100mg of Flecainide/twice daily. Yesterday was my first dose of the flecainide and I ended up in the emergency room again. The doctor at the ER just sounded annoyed with me...told me nothing can be done, PVC's are benign. All he did was give me 1mg of Ativan for anxiety. I don't know what to do anymore...
Avatar f tn I'm 33 years old and prescibed Metoprolol for my heart palpitations, which happens everytime I eat food. After all cardiac tests came back normal, she mentioned that it may be stress related. I'm now being prescribed 20 mg Celexa for aniexty. I only take 6.25 mg of Metoprolol, cutting it into quarters, but are scared to take the two in combination. There are so many warnings about not mixing them. My heart rate has slowed down with the Celexa, but I still get the pounding sensation.
Avatar f tn I had, on average, 20-30,000 ectopic beats every day, and 6-700 runs of SVT per day. Most of my episodes occur at night. From 10pm to 6am, my hourly burden of PACs/SVTwas 30-80%. It starts in the evening and then keeps me awake constantly. The meds have all been a disaster. I have had two ablation attempts with failure to induce. The last ablation attempt caused pericarditis. I was.taking Metoprolol, which I have taken before and it always seems to stop working.
Avatar m tn Total cholesterol is made up of HDL and LDL cholesterol but also factors in VLDL and triglycerides. You can not get your total cholesterol number without all of this factored in. Perhaps your VLDL (very low density lipids) or triglycerides are out of whack and higher than they should be. Do you know what these numbers are as well on your report? This article is excellent at explaining it all. https://my.clevelandclinic.
