Metoprolol and testosterone

Common Questions and Answers about Metoprolol and testosterone

toprol

Avatar m tn Yes, Metoprolol Succinate is the timed release. It is also way more expensive than Metoprolol Tartrate. I switched long ago to the latter and saved a lot of money. A dose costs literally pennies. You have to remember to take it twice a day though. I take it at "5 and 5"; at rising, and at dinner, and it's easy to remember. Metoprolol has the same bradycardia effect as Atenolol, so that has to be watched.
Avatar m tn My problems seem to be testosterone related as well, like related to the sex drive and response and not the physical structures themselves. And I was kind of late on some secondary characteristics like facial hair and never got any morning erections after my teens. My other health problems (all of them) are also listed as possible effects of low t, like high blood pressure, depression, etc. The doctor prescribed me Cialis, but I am not satisfied with that solution!
Avatar m tn I have Hypogonadism treated wth testosterone and arimidex. I do wonder if arimidex can trigger afib. I have OSA and wear CPAP at night......Also during my sleep study I had a couple central apneas too.....So I wonder if I rally have a mixed Sleep apnea. I am 34 years old.
Avatar m tn It has been working for me without questions. I am on Cholesterol meds and hypertension meds(Metoprolol, Altace and Norvasc) which I have been taking for the last two years. Recently I used some viagra two hours before an encounter with my date. I started drinking after the taking the Viagra. The viagra did not work....I took another one and waited awhile and it still didn't work...I took one more and waited a while with no results....
1027737 tn?1253103788 Hi, Can someone tell me what the difference between Metoprolol and Metoprolol Tartrate is? Thank You in advance!
Avatar n tn My electrophysiologist recently put me on a beta blocker (Metoprolol) 25 mg twice a day for hypertension and a ton of other symptoms he said must be due to Neurocardiogenic Syncope. I was diagnosed with asthma a couple years ago and it seems as if the beta blocker is causing shortness of breath and a feeling that seems similar to how I feel after exercising, a sort of chest tightness I would say. Is this common for beta blockers to do to people with asthma?
Avatar n tn He has the shakes so bad he cannot eat, becuase he cannot eat he is losing his appetite and strength. They put him on a beta-blocker Metoprolol. He coughs so bad he chokes.
Avatar f tn I recently had an exacerbation of svt requiring adenosine and an increase in my maintenance metoprolol dosage. I essentially lost a day of memory and have been forgetful and foggy headed. Just wondering if this is normal. I can't get any doctor I have seen to address this.
Avatar n tn I never know when they are going to come on and how strong they are going to be and how long they are going to last. The cardiologist has now put me on the 50mg of metoprolol/daily and 100mg of Flecainide/twice daily. Yesterday was my first dose of the flecainide and I ended up in the emergency room again. The doctor at the ER just sounded annoyed with me...told me nothing can be done, PVC's are benign. All he did was give me 1mg of Ativan for anxiety. I don't know what to do anymore...
Avatar f tn I'm 33 years old and prescibed Metoprolol for my heart palpitations, which happens everytime I eat food. After all cardiac tests came back normal, she mentioned that it may be stress related. I'm now being prescribed 20 mg Celexa for aniexty. I only take 6.25 mg of Metoprolol, cutting it into quarters, but are scared to take the two in combination. There are so many warnings about not mixing them. My heart rate has slowed down with the Celexa, but I still get the pounding sensation.
Avatar f tn I had, on average, 20-30,000 ectopic beats every day, and 6-700 runs of SVT per day. Most of my episodes occur at night. From 10pm to 6am, my hourly burden of PACs/SVTwas 30-80%. It starts in the evening and then keeps me awake constantly. The meds have all been a disaster. I have had two ablation attempts with failure to induce. The last ablation attempt caused pericarditis. I was.taking Metoprolol, which I have taken before and it always seems to stop working.
Avatar n tn I have frequent PVC's (often with bigeminy) and I also have lots of reflux problems. I have been getting a lot more PVC's the past couple of weeks. I switched from Toprol XL to generic Metoprolol, and I I don't know if that has had any affect. I have also had increased reflux issues during this time. I am getting more PVC's and bigeminy than normal and am noticing it most when I lean forward, especailly while eating. Does this sound like the PVC's are coming from reflux?
Avatar m tn t know Atelenol, but I do know Metoprolol and AFib. I am currently living with AFib and taking medications only to control, lower, my heart rate (HR). Metoprolol does the latter, as well as given unwanted lowering of my blood pressure (BP). So I am treating AFib as a condition that is treated for "rate control" and for "clot prevention", I also take warfarin.
Avatar m tn I have suffered with taking diltiazem(180 mg ER) AND metoprolol (50 mg ER) for atril fibrillation for the past two and a half years. The side effects have been debilitating.. Both drugs have the same side effects and together and one or the other or both create what I can only describe as chaotic turbulence in my chest and pain in my left arm when the second drug kicks in.. My cardiolgist now wants me to add a blood thinner (xarelto) to my meds menu.
Avatar n tn I was on a daily dose of the beta blocker (Metoprolol) for near lifetime SVT.  My GP doc said to carry a small supply, and chew an extra 50mg when my SVT occurred (generally 4 to 5 times per month) as it MIGHT help.  When I saw my cardiologist I mentioned this to him.  His comment was (with a slight roll of the eyes) "It doesn't work that way".
Avatar m tn Hi, I'm glad that the Lopressor (metoprolol) work great for you!!! Can I know why you take it? What I understand is that beta blocker have usually mild side-effects when they are give to people with high blood pressure... BUT in my case, my blood pressure is lower to normal only and rarely in the high range (only when i'm in a middle of a panic attack or in a situation where I feel trap).
Avatar m tn There seems to be conflicting information out there regarding how metoprolol (and selective beta blockers) effect potassium levels in the blood... I know that non-selective BB can raise levels, but not sure how selective BB effect potassium levels. The reason I ask is that I like to have a high-potassium diet to control my palpitations, but wonder if I need to be careful how much I intake...
Avatar f tn Had an ultrasound done that came back normal, so nothing further was pursued. Now it is a year and a half later and I had a new test done and AST is 131 and ALT is 145. All other liver bloodwork was normal. Freaking out because I have no medical insurance. Last year my doctor told me she thinks I have fatty liver. I also take metoprolol for PVC's, which I just found out on line can damage your liver. Are these levels extremely high or what?
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with PVC's 15 years ago and was put on Metoprolol 25 mg. I've now been diagnosed with depression and was prescribed Prozac 10 mg which I'm afraid to take now because of the drug interactions I've seen on the internet with these two drugs. Can I run into problems by combining these two drugs.
Avatar m tn But long term use of testosterone and other steroids have transient effects and there is no scientific evidence that performance is enhanced. There is abuse liability so I would suggest you to follow up with a physician or endocrinologist for case to case prescriptions. Take care!
Avatar f tn Suboxone not only effects sex drive it effects Testosterone levels. There is a lot of misunderstanding of this out there. Viagra and Cialis without sex drive equals an erection that allows for sex but no satisfaction to the male if there is no drive. Low testosterone causes low sex drive and erectile dysfunction.
Avatar f tn My blood preesure has been low, with or without Metoprolol. I would recommend that you purchase a blood pressure device and monitor your pressure daily, to see how the med. affects your pressure. I was originally taking 100mg a day, which was cut to 50mg a day, doen to 25mg a day, and finally taken off Metoprolol. Your Dr. should know best, but don't be afraid to ask questions and don't give up until you feel you have gotten an honest answer.
19887518 tn?1486048647 I am so drowsy, tired and weak since starting Metoprolol 3 weeks ago. I take 12.5 mg twice a day with food for my afib. I wake up refreshed. Several hours later some days I feel totally fine other days drowsy. But everyday around 2:30 or 3 pm I crash hard. Very tired. After a 60 minute nap I'm still a bit drowsy but better. Now it's 11 pm and like usual I feel much better but still weaker than before the med. Is there any chance I'll get used to the drug and quit being so tired?
Avatar n tn The doctor checked my testosterone level due to and adverse affect of opiates, and I didnot have any. He put me on supplemental testosterone, but I have read it would come back naturally and taking supplements will stop the natural production of my testosterone. Anyone had this issue.
