Metoprolol and norvasc

Common Questions and Answers about Metoprolol and norvasc

Avatar n tn They insisted at this juncture to put in a pacemaker and put her on Metoprolol, Warfarin, CartiaXT (cardizem), and her usual Norvasc and Atakan. Since this episode and these medications, she has experienced extreme swelling of the lower extremities and now a painful tingling that starts in the late afternoon each and every day and no exercise diminishes the swelling, so she puts them up.
Avatar m tn I am also on Metoprolol and I exercise for at least an hour everyday and have no issues. It may also be that my blood pressure was so low ( 96/60 ) before and it just doesn't effect me that bad, but my grandfather has the shortness of breath type issue on his so I would just say to see your doctor and see what they have to say. Good Luck.
Avatar m tn So, my cardio took me off of the ramipril and put me on 12.5 mg of metoprolol twice a day and in addition to my 12.5 of HCTZ. However, after a week of feeling exhausted, having a resting heart rate consistently in the low 50s, and not much higher otherwise, I complained during my follow up. My cardio gave me some samples of 10 mg coreg to take once a day and a prescription to fill if the side effects from the metoprolol do not get any better.
876405 tn?1243511886 I was taking metoprolol 25 mg twice a day and then my dr discontinued it because I found out that I was pregnant. Now I am taking something else for the blood pressure that is safe to take in pregnancy. It just *****, because suddenly they came out of nowhere and I am trying to find a reason for them..they are literally driving me insane- it's all I think about..I don't know if they are going to kill me or not. Tomorrow I go to the cardiologist and they'll do an echo...
672586 tn?1280937258 I was prescribed by my Internist recently Norvasc 2.5 mg with Metoprolol 25 mg. I used to take Metoprolol with Diltiazem CD 120mg 2X /day for almost 2 months but noticed a "burning chest pain" with Diltiazem that's why I stopped using it. But now I'm afraid to take Norvasc, too.
Avatar f tn Weird how metoprolol works great for some people and not for others.I was only on 25mg and it caused my heart to pound, sometimes my hr would go up alot higher than now with the cartizem im on and it caused palpitations, arythmias really bad.Not a good med for me no how, no way.

Avatar f tn My 86 year old mother has a history of high blood pressure. She has been on metoprolol, vasotec and norvasc for years. Her heart rate had stayed in the 60s for years. A few weeks ago, her heart began to race. (I am wondering if some of her medications were not correct from the pharmacy...or a mistake was made) She was hospitalized with AFIB and complained of a heavy feeling in her chest. She, also, had a cough.
Avatar n tn I went to the cardio yesterday and was removed from the cardizem due to the horrible side effects. I am taking as of this morining norvasc and toprol. Small doses of both. I was of course panicked to take the pills this am but I did it. Its been 2 hours and so far so good. Have had a few PVC''s, but that is an all the time thing anyway. I want to thank you all, becuase it was YOU that made me ask about combing the 2 types of meds. a calcium blk and beta blk.
Avatar n tn How do metoprolol, isosorb, and benazepril together, differ from, norvasc and lanoxin.
Avatar f tn The ER doctor said I was fine and sent me home with NORVASC. Went through all the tests, Nuclear, stress test everything came out normal. Just last week I was having a hard time sleeping, I could hear my heart pounding and skipping beats so my doctor put me on High blood pressure pills. Now today I got put on Atenolol by my Cardiologist from my 48 hours holter results. He says I am having a lot of PVC's. Funny thing I haven't felt a PVC today? Maybe its the Highblood pressure pills working.
Avatar f tn Hello and hope you are doing well. The active components of the medications are different, so it is unlikely to cause cross reactivity. But sometimes the allergic response could be due to the inactive components. So, please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn You should not change the medicines without talking to your doctor and frequently they can change the meds to minimize the side effects. The meds metoprolol (beta blocker) and benazepril (ACE inhibitor) are of value in patients with diabetes and heart disease. Likewise simvastatin has been shown to help these same patients. TALK TO THE DOCTOR.
Avatar m tn I was given Terrodol? and phenigen? but that did nothing.......they took a CT and it showed nothing headache on the left side came back and they gave me the serious stuff and about knocked me out.....headache reduced.....the er doctor said something did come back on one of the blood tests but they were going to rerun it and call......well a week later nothing so we need to have my PCM get it......
Avatar n tn I was on the King of Heart monitor and had an ecocardiogram and I was told I was just fine and not to worry about the tachycardia. After my boy was born my heart would really seem to race and the episodes lasted longer until one night it went to 120bpm and slowed only to 100-110. It was shortly after that I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. My blood levels are normal now and the doctor wants me to come off of PTU to see if I'm in remission.

Avatar n tn I'm currently taking 3 medications to lower my blood pressure, Norvasc,Atenonol and hctz for flood retention. I spoke to my doctor about coming off of the atenonol and she stated that I could but gradually because it would make my heart palpitate, so now I'm scared to come off of the medicine due to how I'm going to feel. Do anyone have any information they could share about ATENONOL?
Avatar m tn On top of this she is now diagnosed with Atrial Tachycardia and Coronary Artery Spasms. She is in her early 30's and I just hope and pray everyday for some relief so that she can live a normal life. What treatments tend to work? She has been perscribed meds and will be going through the observation period to find the correct combination to control her condition. What are your experiences with these diagnosis? What should I watch for and when should I seek medical help for her?
Avatar m tn I have been hospitalized repeatedly since the heart attack and have tried all the usual medications such as verapamil, cardizem, imdur, metoprolol, lisinopril, norvasc and magnesium. I do not tolerate cardizem or imdur well. The angina was not controlled until they started me on Ranexa last year because the pain was constant and severe. I couldn't even walk across the room without severe pain.
Avatar f tn I switched from a B- Blocker (metoprolol) after 4 or so years of therapy, to a calcium channel blocker (Norvasc). I went cold turkey per my MD's instructions. I have been having reflexive tachycardia since then, and my BP has been around 150/100. How long should I expect these side effects to last, or how long should I wait till I see my physician again? Will the tachycardia ever go away?
Avatar n tn she didn't take norvasc yesterday as the Dr said she can just take 2 of metorpolol instead of 1 of metoprolol 50mg and 1 of norvasc 5mg. So, she slept just fine last night, no nausea today. The BP though has dropped to 99/60, pulse 77 on average. I think she is getting better...
Avatar n tn Since then we have tried Norvasc, and metoprolol all with side effects. After discontinuing the metoprolol, I noticed my hands, feet and sometimes knees were becoming discolored when I sat or after showering. When standing or lying they returned to normal color. My doc said this is from the blood pooling and was probably related to taking the beta blockers. I am still on Lisinopril and now Cardizem but as still having problems with the red hands & feet. It is very embarrassing.
Avatar n tn Norvasc 5 mg, Uroxatral 10 mg, Lisindpril 20 mg, Metoprolol 50 mg, but has cut it in half and only takes 25 mg and potassium 20 mg. Some of his problems are a racing heartbeat, trouble breathing, palputations, high blood pressure. I know these meds are suppose to help these problems but it seems like they are not doing the job.
Avatar m tn It has been working for me without questions. I am on Cholesterol meds and hypertension meds(Metoprolol, Altace and Norvasc) which I have been taking for the last two years.
