Avatar f tn Bananas are good for a lot of things and one of them is a healthy heart. Also heard magnesium is a good option if you don't have kidney disease. You can buy it over the counter.

Avatar n tn And I have read numerous countless stoires on folks who have treated Graves with holistic methods and a very strict diet and they not only corrected their eye disease that comes with the graves but the hyperthyroid symptoms too.
Avatar n tn HI, I HAVE JUST BEEN DIAGNOSED WTH STAGE 3 ckd and prescribed losartan and atorvastatin my bp is 125/75 with amlodipine and metoprolol so is it necessary to add a third med for pb and a statin. I'm afraid to take them because of bad reviews .
Avatar n tn We did some tests, ultrasound, nuclear and MRI and now they are saying they want to do a kidney biopsy. Right now I'm on blood pressure medication Norvasc, Metoprolol and the diuretic Lasix. Thing is they said they would see me in 4 weeks and assign me a Nephrologist then who will discuss whether or not to do the biopsy. One question I have is why wait so long? Why do they not want me to see the Nephrologist sooner? Also what is my prognosis? Can this be reversed?

214529 tn?1333307219 Sleepiness and depression are rare side effects of Atenolol, as this beta blocker (opposite to Metoprolol and Propranolol) doesn't pass through the brain barrier in any high amount. But of course, a low blood pressure and slow heart rate may produce such symptoms, especially the first. Yes, you are right that a slow heart rate can make PVCs worse. You should ask your doctor what his opinion is. Anyone can try magnesium, it may help and it may not, it's impossible to say.
Avatar f tn Also, the diltiezem which is a calcium channel blocker is similar to a drug i used to take for a few weeks called metoprolol. I had to stop it because it made me feel weird and a little depressed. I wonder if you can lower the dosage on that one or stop it. My mother in law takes lasix but was also told too stop taking her beta blocker and that she didn't need to be taking both. Do you have congestive heart failure? The 1 med you are on is used for that I see.
Avatar n tn My husband and I are considering starting a family but he is hesitant and scared because of my health. I am a 2 year Cancer survivor with only ONE kidney and have had NCS since 2003. I also suffer from severe Migraines but I am positive every day and feel blessed to be here on this earth. I can't wait to continue God's blessing. I am a little scared but if it is "meant to be it will be".
Avatar f tn If your doctor just suggests vertigo, ask for another opinion. Vertigo is a symptom, not a disease, and therefore you are not treating the real underlying cause with the vertigo meds. I have also found out it may also be a side effect of an untreated astigmatism of the eyes. Someone I know had their glasses prescription changed to better treat their astigmatism and she has been doing much better. Maybe this helps.
Avatar f tn If you had a cardiomyopathy involving CHF your EF% would be low and there would be lung as well as kidney issues to go along with that. At your age it would be very unusual for you to have CAD because a woman's hormones protect her for heart disease due to her ability to carry and deliver children. Once menopause hits, it's a different story. I would certainly consider the angiogram because it is obvious if your doctor wants this to be done and wants you to start taking beta blockers.
Avatar f tn At 17 I was also told I have mitral valve prolapse. I've had palpitations and fast heart rate even then and was on Metoprolol for years with no help. I stopped even going to the doctor because they told me not to have children. I had 3. Yes high risk and blood pressures were elevated though no real problems. I have been having major issues with my blood pressure and heart for well over a year. Not kidding when I say well over stroke categories (180/110).
Avatar n tn You have Graves Disease. RAI is irreversible and I try not to force patients into it but it is a very effective treatment and despite what you read on the internet most patients do fine with synthroid treatment (if the TSH is kept in appropriate range -- 0.5-2.0, unfortunately this is not always done). Being hyper long-term has large risks to the heart and bone, so that is not a good option. Your levels reflect mild-moderate hyperthyroidism but getting worse than the first set.
503727 tn?1210442710 As soon as I get into a place I get so dizzy and my vision is all messed up. I get so hot and sweaty and my heart races. I want my life back. I still dont believe that its just anxiety causing all of this. 390388 tn?1279639813 I switched to taking it in the AM along with my Triamterene/HCTZ, and Metoprolol instead of mid-day.....in which it was dropping my HR into the low 60's. I'm just so wiped out feeling anymore. I hope my body adjust soon...... And realllllly hope they can also figure out why I'm in so much pain all the time. Mainly with my back; but, my stomach and all over body pains too. I feel like a real mess anymore. Sigh In case anyone has been reading my post.
Avatar f tn It turns out that the likely cause of my bp is chronic kidney disease. I have been treating the symptoms with a nephrologist; however he just recently voiced my diagnosis of CKD. My creatinine over the last five years has consistently been in a range of 1.3 to 1.9, my 24hr urine is prt of 170'smg/24 hr, and creatinine Ur 24 of 700-800 mg/24 hr. In the last 6 months my GFR has been in the low 30's ml/min.
Avatar m tn For instance, what are your risk factors for coronary artery disease? Those at highest risk of coronary artery disease and its complications are (1) smokers (2) diabetics (3) those with poorly controlled high blood pressure (4) patients with high cholesterol (5) those with significantly reduced kidney function.
10483820 tn?1410469772 Normally I have labs every 3 months and in 3rd stage chronic kidney disease. My last lab was in April. This BP problem started about June. Ironically I was forced into taking generic Toprol in May and the Imdur is generic also. Monday my PCP started me taking 60mg imdur (generic) with 320 mg Diovan at bedtime. It has had no impact on BP readings in the AM. Mid-morning I take 200 mg metropolol w/30 mg of generic imdur. Readings will be between 140s to 150s in the afternoon.
Avatar m tn I'm a 47-year-old with no history of urinary, kidney, etc., issues. I do have cardiovascular disease and received a stent 2 years ago and am on a few meds like Lipitor, Lisinopril CoQ10, aspirin, and Metoprolol. I'm in decent shape, exercise regularly, and eat a healthy diet of lots of veggies, fish, some white meat chicken, egg whites.
Avatar n tn The sensation is as if my head and neck are throbbing with pressure and I have to stop walking or slow down and stop and stand still for a minute or so to make the sensation stop. Sounds are muffled in rhythm with the pulsations and I sometimes feel as if I will pass out, but never have. There is no pain. I have been checked throughly by my GP, a cardiologist, and an electrophysiologist and none of them could find a cause.
Avatar n tn I think everything is over and I clean up. I walk out of the toilet and in about 2 minutes time the stomach cramp and the fainting sensation comes back (I've fainted only once to date from this and was out for about 15-20 minutes). 6. When I get back to the toilet I have a really violent Diarrhoea episode in pure liquid state.

Avatar n tn (1) I have never encountered a patient who had elevated liver enzymes from metoprolol, and I've prescribed a LOT of metoprolol. Anything is possible, but before implicating the metoprolol, I would recheck the ALT and think of another possibility. Moreover, most AST/ALT elevations are from transient viral infections or other unexplained phenomenon, and these go away on their own.
Avatar f tn I have a thyroid disease and I know that these heart-related attacks are connected to that, so check that out asap!
Avatar n tn I take 175 mg of Metoprolol a day and 120 mg Cardizem CD now. They have seemed to mask the PVC which I still can feel faintly everyday. I also can't sleep, loose weight, and the Doctors answers are always here take another pill. I just want some one to think outside the old persons box and treat me as a young person with 40 years to live.
