Avatar n tn My first pregnancy I was on Aldomet for hypertension and did just fine. Now my MD would like to try Metoprolol 25mg bid for this pregnancy, when it happens. I cannot take the ACE inhibitor I usually take and I am now on the Lopressor. Does anyone know of a woman that has taken Metoprolol and what are the risk factors w/ pregnancy? Is it really approved to take during pregnancy? Do you know if miscarriage rate is greater w/ this drug?
Avatar n tn My electrophysiologist recently put me on a beta blocker (Metoprolol) 25 mg twice a day for hypertension and a ton of other symptoms he said must be due to Neurocardiogenic Syncope. I was diagnosed with asthma a couple years ago and it seems as if the beta blocker is causing shortness of breath and a feeling that seems similar to how I feel after exercising, a sort of chest tightness I would say. Is this common for beta blockers to do to people with asthma?
Avatar n tn Not libido, but maintaining a firm erection. I went off Zocor, and Dyazide 3 months ago for financial reasons and the problem went away. I have started to take the Dyzazide againg and the problem seems to be starting again. It appears the problem is therefore Dyazide related. I am going to see my doctor in a couple of weeks and am trying to be informed before I see him.
Avatar n tn Usually when I stand up, I need to stand still for a few minutes to let my blood flow through my body while my left arm and leg shakes uncontrollably and I have to hold on to something to keep from falling. Otherwise I will fall if I start walking right away. I am taking Metoprolol and Hydrochlorothiazide for blood pressure.
Avatar n tn I am advised to take Ramipril 5mg, Sustained Release Metoprolol Succinate 50mg + Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg, Atorvastatin 10mg, Aspirin 75mg,and Telmisatan 80 mg every day. I am also suffering from Hypothyroidism since 1980 and taking 125mg Thyroxine Sodium. I suffered from Gout in the year 2007 and am taking Allopurinol 100mg (tab.zyloric). Please advise if the medication stated above is correct. My breathing becomes heavy on physical exercise.
Avatar m tn Your heart rate being slow is reflective of two of the medications that you are on that block the atrioventricular node (conduction system of the heart); diltiazem and metoprolol. Neither of those medications are good at controlling blood pressure. A better beta blocker to use rather than metoprolol is carvedilol as it acts to lower blood pressure through a different mechanism than metoprolol.
Avatar m tn PULSE RATE IS 43bpm. I SEE A DOCTOR WHOM PRESCRIBED DILTIAZEM 90mg X3 A DAY,METOPROLOL TARTRATE 25mg X2 A DAY.HCTZ 50mg X1. MY BP HAS BEEN AS HIGH AS 220/140. I HAVE NAUSEA, "BUGGY ITCHY" EYES. CAN'T FOCUS.

Avatar f tn My current meds are Tricor 145mg once daily, Metoprolol 100mg twice daily, Niaspan 500mg once daily, Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg once daily, Quinapril 40 mg twice dailt, Protonix 40 mg twice daily, and vitamin B-3 and B-12 injections. I am not overweight, exercise three times a week, but I am a smoker. My question is what does my health future look like? Will I need dialisis, if so how soon? What about a transplant, is that likely? How long is a person life span with my symptoms?
Avatar n tn I have lisinopril and diltiazem. I know the beta blockers and, I believe, the hydrochlorothiazide can produce tiredness, as can clonazepam. I don't think citalopram has any effect on tiredness.
Avatar n tn 50 mg Metoprolol 3. 25 mg Hydrochlorothiazide 4. 325mg Aspirin (decreased to 81mg in 2 weeks) Those meds caused BP to stay at around 120/80, BUT in 3 weeks BP was at 160/100 with sever nausea and headaches for a few days in a row. She was hospitalized again and stayed in hospital for a week. All tests came normal again (CT scan, tilt table, Stress test, etc). She was discharged with BP 150/100 with Rx (daily): 1. 320mg Diovan 2. 25mg Hydochlor. 3. 50mg Metoprolol 4. 20mg Prilosec 5.
Avatar n tn HI I am 31 and have HBP on adv. 153/105 during day and 124/75 at night, and tacardia. My BMI is 24. I have a renin count of 1.3. I was given metoprolol 25 mg 2xday + hydrochlorothiazide 25mg 1xday. I an taking meds for depression too, seroquel 25 mg 1xday. My question is: are any of these meds causing short-term memory loss? if I stop taking them will it get better or worse, next stage total loss of memory?? how do I know if it is me or the meds? help before I forget I wrote this.....
Avatar n tn Oh yeah and another big important point is if he stays on the Toprol we're still is on metoprolol or is metoprolol gets adjusted up especially remember that that can also cause a lot of lethargy especially at higher doses but certainly much higher than 25 mg once a day so I'm not sure if he was just on one today metoprolol if he was probably unlikely that the metoprolol itself was causing the G then again he was on three blood pressure medicines metoprolol hydrochlorothiazide and listen a pro so
808904 tn?1307061409 I had a left sided endarterectomy in 02/2011 and changed my lifestyle completely.. Diet includes fruits and veggies and little or no meat and plenty of fiber. My BP has fallen down some ...I guess it is due to the weight loss and excercise. But it some time gets to 90-115 (systolic) and 50-60 (diastolic)..even with the new 25 mg pills..I have been taking metoprolol for over ten years...used to have fast heartbeat...on the 25 mg it gets up to 75 sometimes ...
Avatar m tn A NURSE (not a doctor) told me to take in less fluids in the course of a day to prevent future fluid build-up. I have complained on a couple of occasions that I feel the hydrochlorothiazide (for HBP and water retention) is not doing the job. I am convinced that I take in more liquid than I excrete. BTW: I have come to the conclusion that meds ending in -lol (in your case Carvedilol; in my case Metoprolol; in my husband's case Atenolol) raise blood sugar numbers.

Avatar n tn They did all kinds of test on me and never figured out the cause of the hives and angiodema, and then one day it left. During all the testing they found an Adrenal tumor and said it was fine, so nothing was done with the tumor. I was sent to a specialist during this time because I grew a small hump on the back of my neck to be tested for crushing’s, which I tested negative for.
Avatar n tn I have a condition called PAT for short, which causes my heart rate to reach 200 times per minute. My heart doctor put me on Atenolol 25mg.,which is a beta blocker. I have had only a few episodes sinse I started this med. about three years ago. I am now 49yrs. old.
Avatar n tn Husband has spells where he gets a build up of sinus drainage, then starts coughing very deeply, he turns bright red and passes out and shakes like he is having ceasures. Avatar n tn Regurgitant Fraction of 58% (Moderate-to-Severe) Asymptomatic Generally in good health/exercise regularly taking Metoprolol 50mg/daily for blood pressure taking Hydrochlorothiazide 25mg/daily TEE report highlights. 1>Prolapse of the posterior mitral valve leaflet. Appears to be prolapse of the tip of the anterior Mitral valve leaflet. As a result of these prolapses and myxomatous change of the Mitral valve, there are three separate regurgitant jets of Mitral regurgitation that are noted.
3617009 tn?1347826497 I am taking Metoprolol, Hydrochlorothiazide and Topiramate. My physican has not seen these results yet. I had them done a a health fair at our office complex yesterday afternoon. Thank you! This is important information since my father passed at age 41 after after having his 6th heart attack. My father was tall, skinny and seemed to be in great health. As we all know family history does play a large roll.
1124887 tn?1313758491 ) I got my beta blocker changed to metoprolol (25 mg) and I feel my anxiety getting a bit stronger. But now my heart races a bit more in response to anxiety. Can propranolol actually contribute to higher blood pressure with stress? Are my assumptions correct that propranolol works better on anxiety due to the non-selective effect? Is my BP really normal? My heart is otherwise fine with normal chambers, wall dimensions and excellent contractility (EF 78%).

Avatar f tn I take 100mg metoprolol and 25 Hydrochlorothiazide. I hadn't felt well in along time ignoring many symptoms. I cry everyday and know I have to stop and fight for my life.
Avatar f tn My mom just got out the hospital after being brought in for heart attack like symptoms (severe chest pain, arm numbness). She previously was on metoprolol 100mg twice daily, hydrochlorothiazide 25mg daily, fish oil, baby aspirin and lipitor 40mg daily. The ambulance/er gave her nitro x2 doses, baby aspirin, and enalapril. She was admitted to the cardiac unit the same day. Her bp had significantly spiked, noticable up to 184/126 at one point.
4597556 tn?1383308643 my husband takes metoprolol and hydrochlorothiazide. how did you feel before when you were taking the metoprolol? did you get dizzy?
Avatar n tn Bad enough in my case that the Metoprolol 50MG daily that I am taking makes me feel very sluggish and tired and now I read on here that they raise ones chances of developing type 2 diabetes. This just never ends. I have an aneurysm on my aortic root, so, I guess I have to be on BETAS...I have not read where there is anything else I could be on. As far as I am concerned any medication taken long term is not good. Seems like long term MEDS eventually cause other problems.
Avatar n tn What other diagnoses/conditions do you have? (Looks like high blood pressure meds? Hydrochlorothiazide and aspirin...) Do you know what your hemoglobin, hematocrit and red blood cells are? Age?
