471161 tn?1317194550 Does anyone know or have experience with taking Digoxin or Metoprolol and did it cause you to have a choking feeling? I have been on both for about 5 weeks now and have had this choking sensation for about that long. I have been sent for an ultrasound of my neck and they found nothing. My Internest acted like it was in my head and told me to take Tylenol. Maybe she thought I was trying to get pain meds out of her. That just didn't make sense. I am not in pain.

Avatar f tn I have some Afib and some PAC's, my doc said Digoxin and Toprol do the same thing, I chose the Digoxin. Does anyone take the Digoxin for these conditions and it works? Which do you think is better?
Avatar f tn I have been through Digitalis and Digoxin toxicity. The classic sign of toxicity is seeing 'cracked walls'. I too had the upset stomach and vomiting, but it did not take very long for that to happen to me; I never lasted anywhere near 5 weeks. I would question if something else is going on with that. The other symptoms you describe can also happen as a result of the lower HR and BP.
254714 tn?1316616955 was taking metoprolol 100mg... was making me dizzy, headache, low blood pressure, and just feeling ill..now my doc gave me Digoxin 125mg so try this new meds lets see how this work hopefully it works if not another ablation (dont want ) but lets see...
Avatar f tn Both episodes were resolved after I took 25mg of Metoprolol and 1/2 of the smallest dose of ativan. Both have also included jaw pain and pain between my shoulder blades with my heart "Jumping" out of my chest. I have taken betablockers for a short time in the past, but they have made me feel awful. I have also taken digitalis, which made me feel terrible as well. Holter moniter tests prove inconclusive. Stress tests are negative. My EKG shows a slight irregularity on the t-wave.
Avatar f tn you never mentioned anything about taking medication for your SVT, if I am reading correctly you only take it for high BP. I take Digoxin daily and metoprolol (50mg) per day and if I start to have the signs of SVT I take an "quick release" of the metoprolol 100mg and that usually takes about 1 hour to work. when I did have SVT my blood pressure did start to go high and my cardiologist said it was because my heart was working hard for a while.
Avatar n tn I got some room spinning dizzy spells but figured it was the Afib causing it. So he stopped the digoxin (combo wasn't working and if anything was causing Afib more often), and started Flecainide with the atenolol (25mg). Room spinning dizzy spells which would last a few seconds but often. So he stopped the atenolol and back to digoxin. The day after stopping atenolol, the room spinning spells stopped. However, we had to keep increasing the flecainide. Now on 5th day of this combo.
Avatar n tn I contributed this to the fact that my progesterone levels were higher after 5 months and I felt alot better mentally and physically and my Digoxin levels were higher. I ended up having a ceaserian section, as all my other children were also, no problems with general anethesia. I did have another episode 4 days after delivery which I put to the fact of plunging hormones. I'm back down to 250mcgs per day. I have this dose about 10pm.
456073 tn?1206459977 The next step is to try a Beta Blocker - metoprolol succinate, see how I do after a couple of weeks, and then schedule a stress test. My questions: 1) What is the safest way to transition from lanoxin to Toprol XL? I was told stop the former, start the latter on the same day. 2) Should I be concerned with getting additional tests to determine how these PVCs may interact with my stenotic aortic valve? 3) I am periomenopausal for sure (age 49, F), have night sweats very frequently.
Avatar n tn Half in the morning and half at night. I also take 0.25 of digoxin and 5 mg of lisinopril. I have only taken the metaprolol and digoxin for less than a week so I guess it will stabilize soon. So far it has not really helped the arrythmias. If it does not help in several weeks maybe my cardio will change them. Thanks again for your help.
471161 tn?1317194550 He has put me on digoxin and motoprolol both of which I have to monitor and take smaller doses of because the dose he wanted me on lowers my blood pressure too much. I still have high heart rates at time, usually when I am moving around. My Internest has me on 10mg. Prednisone, Celebrx and 50mg. Imuran. The Cardiologist tells me this will go away when the lupus is under control.
Avatar n tn is it ok to take furosemide 20mg with diltiaz er120mg,digoxin 0.25mg and metoprolol tart 50mg and a bayer aspirin 325mg ?
Avatar f tn High ventricular rate leads to insufficient diastolic filling time. Digoxin slows down the conduction in the AV node and increases its refractory period, and it can reduce the ventricular rate. The arrhythmia itself is not affected, but the pumping function of the heart improves by improved filling. The use of digoxin in heart problems during sinus rhythm was once standard.
Avatar n tn For the next 2 days I felt weak and had occasional PVCs. I was put on metoprolol and monitored around th clock. Two days after the episode (and after having been given potassium and mag. IVs), I agreed to have an echocardiogram done (mind you, all my ekgs had been normal). The echo showed a severe mitral valve regurgitation, EF of 50% and a "slight heart enlargement" according to the cardiologist. My cardiologist thinks it might be pregnancy related (PPCM).
Avatar n tn 250mcg digoxin...50mg metoprolol...325mg aspirin...10mg lisinopril and 40mg protonix still i have acid reflux if i do anything physical such as walking can you help me.
Avatar m tn I recently became pregnant with my 4th (1st since afib) and dr switched me from Rhythmol to Digoxin and Metoprolol. Anyone had a "Normal" pregnancy/ infant on the above drugs? I have been shocked back into rhythm so many times and i dont think they will do that pregnant.
3245652 tn?1346953538 As everything worked itself out I have also gotten used to a regimen of digoxin and metoprolol and wondering if there is an end in sight. My doc has not been the best at explaining things yet still I almost feel bad at the thought of trading him in for a new one...go figure. Have any of you had similar experiences and if so do you have any words of wisdom...
Avatar n tn I am now taking medications Digoxin and Metoprolol. This is quite a blow since I dont even like taking aspirins. I was just wondering if exercise is still beneficial. As I read more on this my condition sounds so fatal and hopeless. Will I ever get off these drugs and if so what can I expect. Depression has set in as it said it would. I am trying to keep a upbeat attitude about this but its hard. After all I am only 41yrs of age. Thank you for listening!

Avatar f tn As a former sufferer of a form of AVRT closely related to Wolff-Parkinson-White, I found that the drug therapy I tried, did not alter my personality, and did little to quell my episodes which had inceased to 3-5 per month. I was on Metoprolol, and tried Sotalol which scared the heck out of me. When I was first diagnosed as a kid, 54 years ago, I was put on Digitalis and Digoxin. I don't recall that these drugs helped much either.
Avatar n tn Since then I have been treated with Digoxin for Atrial Fib. I went through a normal pregnancy, still on the Digoxin, but since then have not felt good. Palpitations have been frequent, some days non-stop. My doctor changed meds and now I am on Solatol (sp?) My normal BP is 90/60. Since being on the Solatol it has dropped to 88/58 and during one exam it was as low as 80/58. The low blood pressure doesn't bother me at all, since my normal reading is so low.
Avatar f tn It is like a rush and last for 30 min up to 2 hours It starts after taking my medication ( digoxin and metoprolol) , and the episodes started after I received a Lexiscan Cardiolite stress test, has anyone experienced this ?
Avatar n tn My father has blood draws every 3 months and he is on warfarin and digoxin. It is important to stay on your medications. Taking your medication as prescribed by your doctor will help to keep you out of the hospital. Consult your doctor regarding your medication questions. Do not change any medications dosages without your doctors approval.
Avatar m tn I consider Metoprolol mainly a blood pressure and heart rate lowering drug, not particularly good for arrhythmia. Maybe that is what the digoxin is for. I have taken Propafenone and Rhythmal (similar) - and while they have (guess) helped me maintain sinus rhythm, they have never converted me to sinus, it has always taken other measures, electrocardioversion, in my case. Unfortunately, electrocardio.. no longer works on me.
Avatar m tn (Event though they did not see ANYTHING, they gave me metoprol) I was told the next time it happens to goto urgent care right away, so they could get an EKG. I went in, and they took and EKG, it came and went and they got thier EKG, afterwards the Doctor gave me some Sotalol and asked me to walk around. It didn't really help and I had to sit down. Eventually they said it was not settlign down and they said it could either stay or wait for it too settle.
Avatar f tn My husband also has irregular heart rate and this week we got him switched back from generic metoprolol succinate to toprol XL and lo and behold he is back in good heart rhythm. That got me thinking if indeed my problem could be similiar.......one thing that has really upset me is that after my heart attack my EF was at 42% and it has dropped to 30% and again wonder if I need to be on diferent drugs. My dr thinks that isn't the answer but I'm not sure...... Any thoughts?
Avatar n tn I am 57 I have been told I have Atrial Fibrillation and Eptopic Beats after 2 years , I have been on Atnolol,Bisprolol, Verapimil, and now Metoprolol, some relief on verapimil, I have a slow Heart rate now in 50 to 60 beats per min but have dificulty getting a wrist reading with a wrist monitor due to irregular Beats,I get dizzy spells on Metoprolol which come out of the blue and palpitations. Avatar n tn 125 digoxin and 5mg warafin per day would appreciate any feed back from docs or forum contrributors.
Avatar m tn After a (small) stroke conjectured to have been caused by atrial febrillation (accompanied by a heart rate of 160 (3x her normal rate)), my wife had a pacemaker implanted and is now on coumidin, digoxin, and metoprolol. In a brief phone conversation with her doctor, she asked how long she'd be on the coumidin. He responded, "forever.
