Metoprolol and diarrhea

Common Questions and Answers about Metoprolol and diarrhea

443862 tn?1238003039 I don't think the metoprolol, a beta blocker which; reduces the force and rate of the contraction of the heart, is causing this. The medicines that you take for hyperthyroidism might cause some exacerbation of the "hard heart beat" symptoms, especially if they are contraindicated with metoprolol, of course. Your doctor should be on top of this and I would let him know about it, especially if it just started, or is getting worse.
1198633 tn?1341185988 After an ER visit for high heart rate and blood pressure I've been put on 50mg metoprolol tatrate during day and 50mg at night. Since the switch I've been having really bad diarrhea and gas problems and at night my hands ache and feel kind of stuff but not swollen. Is this common?
Avatar f tn I also take Levothyroxine, 75mcg every day and Xanax 0.5mg,2 to 3 times a day for panic and anxiety disorder. Could the sore nipples just be from weaning off Metoprolol since this hasn't bothered me before? A side note: I am not pregnant and do not get periods. Had a Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy about 5 years ago with several fibroid tumors removed.
Avatar n tn metoprolol, ramipril and omeprazole can these cause constant diarrhea and leg cramps
Avatar m tn some symptoms started right after kidney stones. some two weeks ago, mainly yellow stool, and diarrhea. was wondering if anyone else has experienced side effects from metoprolol, twice a day, 25mg. blood pressure is down, however I do not have insurance, and have spent over 2 grand on diagnostic test since the 15 of august. mri, bloodwork, stool test, ct, etc. only other medication I am now taking is xanax, and that's for anxiety related to what's going on. I thank you for your time.
Avatar n tn I go to the toilet. Explosive diarrhea and sweating and weakness and faint feeling (some times I do faint or lean on something to keep me from falling over). Then after it's over I get very cold. I still feel a little weak but I feel much better. I drink lots of fluids and am a pretty healthy 25. I don't believe it's all separate diagnoses. Like the vaso vagal and then another one for the diarrhea and another one for the sweating etc.
1198633 tn?1341185988 When I go from lying in bed and sit up and stand I get extremely dizzy and off balance and feel like I could pass out and my legs feel like stiff or weak. I have to hold on to a wall or anything in reach to walk. Other times when I keep myself busy though these symptoms don't seem to be as bad. I was tested for orthostatic hypotension and didn't have that or POTs even though my heart rate could be 75 laying down and then jump up to 90-100 when standing and my heart starts pounding pretty hard.
1480441 tn?1287709712 I have had the symptoms of psvt since I was 16 but only got diagnosed with it about 7 years ago. I've been taking Diltiazem 120mg on a daily basis ever since and recently started taking Metoprolol 25mg also on a daily basis( diltiazem in the a.m., metoprolol in the p.m.). I went to the dentist today for an abcess wisdom tooth, and they suggested I get dentures on the top.

Avatar m tn They were able to get it back to normal in the ICU and I was on meds for a few months. The second time (1 year and 1/2 later) I was laying in bed and my leg cramped and I had an episode. Again, they got it under control and informed me that because I have had issues in the past I was 80% more likely to have it again. My current cardiologist has me in a daily dose of Metoprorol and baby asprin. I have been on this for over 2 years now and they have not changed anything.
Avatar m tn I had been having long bouts with very annoying PVC's and my cardiologist had prescribed Metoprolol to combat them. It didn't seem to help and she increased the dosage. Still no change. But I had been taking fish oil capsules on occasion to promote heart health and noticed that the PVC's seemed to go away when I took them. I decide to take them daily (twice) and now I can report that my PVC's have disappeared completely!!

102999 tn?1326859384 All of the oral magnesium compounds can cause significant bloating and diarrhea -- afterall, why do people take Milk of Magnesia? Mag citrate is also a powerful laxative -- I gave many patients mag citrate for constipation. I did some research into mag taurate since I am not familiar with this compound.
Avatar n tn Your experience of high heartrate after stopping Toprol XL are not unusual. I tried kicking my 50 mg (25 mg 2x) Metoprolol (long story) and had a 2+ week period of similar high heartrate. You need to come off of it SLOWLY. Work with your cardiologist on how to to this most effectively.
Avatar m tn You can have diarrhea after having your gallbladder removed; this is due to bile salts spilling into the colon and causing diarrhea. A powder medication known as cholestyramine can be helpful. I am amazed at the number of medications that you are taking. I would be concerned about the ongoing use of metoclopramide as this can cause muscle twitches in the face and elsewhere in the body (known as tardive dyskinesia). I hope this helps.
503727 tn?1210442710 As soon as I get into a place I get so dizzy and my vision is all messed up. I get so hot and sweaty and my heart races. I want my life back. I still dont believe that its just anxiety causing all of this. I feel like I have something else wrong that the doctors cant find even though i have had bloodwork, mri, ekg, and they were all normal. I started taking .25mg of xanax once a day. still dont feel any better yet. So if anybody has any help please give it to me.
Avatar n tn She smiled and looked at the nurse in the room and said actually no I don't think your crazy and I (she) just had a big seminar about it with the doctors around town. She said it is directly related to the hormones in a womens cycle. That's not to say it can't happen at other times of the month. There are "triggers as she said. Caffein, alcohol and so forth. I felt better. I take medicine for it and sometime right before my cycle starts I have to take more because it can get so bad.
687079 tn?1230952212 I am experiencing lots of rapid heart beat, feeling faint, tingling throughout my body and hands and feet that like blocks of ice! I am relieved to see someone else with hypo has rapid heart beat. I thought it was jsut for people with hyperthyroid. I went to the ER recently thinking I was having a heart problem and they took an EKG and said I was fine. They said I was having panic attacks. Gave me zanax. I am planning on going to an endocrinologist. What are your numbers?
Avatar f tn Switched to diltiazem 120 mg (because of tiredness on metoprolol) but still having abdominal cramps, no diarrhea, dark brown stools with white/gray. No blood. Cardiologist says gastro symptoms coincidence. Should I have a colonoscopy? I can't live with these cramps...and GAS. The gas is constant and the cramps come 1-2 hrs after eating. I know both these meds are metabolized by the same enzyme. What should I do first? .
Avatar n tn I had diarrhea a couple of days later and the numbness lasted off and on for a couple of weeks. Was good for over a year until a couple of days ago. Same thing, left side tingling and moving around the left side only. Then again today a couple days after the tingling/numbness started I have diarrhea again. Any ideas you have I would appreciate! Very frustrated!
Avatar n tn His heart beat is currently at 30s but his blood pressure is quite high. He complained about his chest pain and upper arm pain daily. He has excessive sweat and got fainted once last week. We went to see the doctor, the doctor asked my dad to stop taking METOPROLOL TARTRATE (BETALOC) which he has been taking for a long time. The doctor just said if my dad feels chest pain again, send him to the emergency room. What do you think the issue is?
Avatar n tn Metoprolol is generally well-tolerated, but the known side-effects can include abdominal cramps, diarrhea, constipation, and fatigue. He needs to talk to his doctor about what's going on. He may need to change meds.
Avatar n tn I know we are all told not to worry about it, but as has been said before, I wish they could be in my shoes and feel these irregularities. Taking a beta blocker (metoprolol) does seem to have some minimal effect, but doesn't always work. As far as anxiety is concerned, for me that is not a problem. So I'm back to square one. As of now I am trying to find an alternative solution (vitamins, Coq10, et.) that will work for me.
959034 tn?1253675076 neuromuscular abnormalities such as hyperreflexia, myoclonus, tremor, rigidity, and ataxia; and gastrointestinal symptoms such as abdominal cramping, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. MANAGEMENT: Caution is advised if metoclopramide is prescribed in combination with serotonin reuptake inhibitors.
Avatar n tn I am now taking metoprolol and cardizem to control the blood pressure and heart rate but despite the dosing I am waking with pounding heart, as it now will not accelerated over a rate of 100, an instant awakening of my intestines and often active bowels. I am in the pit of exhaustion. I even took an ambien for sleep and still woke up three times last night. I feel better during the latter part of the day - mostly around 4 p.m.
Avatar f tn I am so tired of constant heartburn, severe gas pains, cramping and alternating constipation and diarrhea. I have been through all of the tests - I do not have celiac disease or any of the other things that are typically tested for. Although I do not H. Pylori, I have been diagnosed as having recurring peptic ulcer symptoms. My stomach is so sensitive there are hardly any foods that I can eat without upsetting it. I eat mostly granola, saltines, pretzels, and sandwiches.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone - I am a 34 year old woman just diagnosed with Graves Disease a couple of weeks ago with a TSH of <0.03, FT4 of 67, FT3 of 2092 and TSI of 163. I am 3 months postpartum and am breastfeeding my little guy with a plan to do so for probably 15 months total.

1198633 tn?1341185988 I too have bloating so badly, and edema in my feet and legs. My abdomen and upper area hurt like what you were explaining. I myself have Liver Disease. But in the past, when I bloated, or swelled up, it went down with diuretics. Not this time. I have been suffering for over 2 months. I have an appt. with a new gastro because mine seems to be just taking blood and money. No Answers, and No IMPROVEMENT. Grrr I have a new appt with a new Dr. Oct.
