toprol

Avatar f tn Septal thickness of 22mm. I am taking Metoprolol - 25mg at 0800, 25mg at 1800 and 50mg at 2300 to control my rates and arrythymias. I wore a Holter monitor last week that showed 9 episodes of SVT and 2 of Vtach. I am due for cardiac ablation one month after my scheduled c-section. My BP with the Metoprolol is around 105/50 during the day and unknown while sleeping. I have the following concerns I was hoping could be addressed. 1. What are the odds I can carry to full term?
Avatar n tn When beta blockers have been used in pregnancy, metoprolol and propranolol have been used more often than atenolol. These beta blockers have been used successfully during pregnancy, though your child should be monitored closely around the time of delivery. The beta blockers can have adverse affects on the fetus in terms of development in some animal studies. Pindolol and acebutalol are considered by the FDA to be even safer, but this is all on the basis of animal studies.
Avatar n tn Im wondering if any of you ladies have been in my situation and stayed on the metoprolol throughtout your pregnancy and how did things turn out?? Typically I live a very normal life when I'm on my medication, if I don't have it...I'm bedridden. my heart rate will be 200 and I will not be able to stand after just stopping the medication for one day. Please weigh in and let me know if you have any experience with this. Thank you!! Also, has anyone tried Labetelol? They want to switch me to that..
Avatar n tn This leads me to think that while I was pregnant I produced enough progesterone , or more than usually , also while breastfeeding and that prevented me from having these symptoms. I now think of trying the natural progesterone cream.. I also found it very helpful to take a high dose of magnisium and calcium to calm me down. I really hope this might be helpful for some of you!
Avatar f tn The pediatrition said they usually dont monitor kids BF with mother using PTU cause the amount is so small. Pregnancy and postpartum AND breastfeeding can alter your thyroid levels. unless you are experiencing major health issues I would not jump into TT. Are your levels well maintained with the medication? If so there is no reason to go for perm fix right away until you have had time to really investigate the choice you are going to make.
Avatar f tn My PCP ordered a thyroid uptake scan so I would have those results when I go to see endocrine but I would prefer to avoid that if possible. I have a couple of concerns. I am currently breastfeeding and I don't wish to stop at this time but I don't know how long after the scan before it would be safe to do so again (I can't get a straight answer). I am not sure if a FNA biopsy would give enough info (I definitely want to rule out cancer and know next best treatment steps).
Avatar f tn It turned out I was having them about 13% of the time and he wanted to lower them to maybe 8%. He gave me Metroprolol and I only took 1/2 a day, They seemed to get better and I stopped worrying. Now they have come back about two months ago. It seems they are all day now. it feels like two beats then a space. Worse in morning and night. I hear that if you are having to many of them it can cause heart problems. Does anyone know about this? They are driving me CRAZY.
171867 tn?1271047748 My problem is now that I wan't to get pregnant with my first baby and my concern is that Metoprolol is still classified as a category C drug and my OB says I have to come off of it. I tried to take myself off of it about a week ago and did ok for about four days but my heart would start to race with the smallest movement. My panic disorder go way worse too. Anyone have any ideas of a med that they have taken during pregnancy that is a category B?
Avatar f tn I am currently pregnant for the fourth time at 31 weeks gestation, with the HCM diagnosis at 7 weeks pregnant after MRIs, Echo's etc and two episodes of PSVT to 240bpm. Septal thickness of 22mm.
584903 tn?1233834986 ) After a few incidents of all night Afibs I went to the ER and am now on Metoprolol. In a way, I'm grateful for my Afibs. I think it was a wake-up call to get my affairs in order. So after delaying for years, I now finally have a will and a trust set up with full instructions about the care of my dogs. I have contacted all the people who are willing to help with finding homes for them,if my kids are not willing or able. Just the fact that everything is in order has put my mind at ease.
Avatar n tn I also wore an event and Holter monitor that documented alot of PACs. I cannot deal with these. I take 25 mg of metoprolol (Lopressor) b.i.d. and 75 mg of Zoloft. It does not seem to be helping. I have some Xanax that I take occasionally, but it only numbs things. Does this mean I am getting an acute heart problem? Every doctor and my cardiologist says no, but honestly, if they don't quit I don't see my quality of life being anything but horrible. It makes me angry and depressed.
Avatar n tn Sorry I forgot to mention that I use Flonase and Flovent for Allergies and mild Asthma. I ment I don't take meds for my PVCs when I said I don't take any medication.
