Yes I dont have any heart problems and nothing in my family and also not diabetic. My age is 40. Still taking metoprolol only and will go for a review soon and would sort things out. I am happy with metoprolol 50mg ER to Bisoprolol 5mg...
Avatar m tn Since my pace maker, difib implant, I started using metoprolol succ er. When we changed to bisoprolol I have experienced ankle pain, now severe knee pain, and pain in implant area when trying to do bench presses. We have changed back to metoprolol starting today. Befeore implant I could run 25 miles a week without pain. Ater implant abot 10 -15 miles a week, less miles, slower pace with added days to rest in between. This is the first time I am experiencing pain ever. what should I do?.
Avatar m tn Within 30 mins of taking Metoprolol, I feel the effects and I feel great. My BP and it drops to 100/60 and my heart rate drops to 70 or even 65 BPM. I don't have any side effects from this med. That being said, the issue I'm running into is that the Metoprolol doesn't seem to last as long as it should. If I take the Metaprolol at 7am, by the time 3pm comes around, my BP is 135/92 and my heart rate can get as high as 120 BPM.
Avatar f tn I can tell you that Bisoprolol IS a Class II beta blocker, just like Metoprolol, Atenolol, and Propranolol. It comes with the side effects associated with Class II antiarrythmics. I can tell you that for me, my chosen class II beta blocker Metoprolol did little for my PVCs or to prevent SVTs that I was frequently experiencing.
Avatar f tn I know that there are a lot of different beta blockers on the market. CONCOR is Bisoprolol and that is what I would suggest and thus agree with what ED34 suggested. You have to find the meds that works best for you and it sometimes takes a few weeks/months to really know if something is working for you, or not. I started on 2,5mg Concor but was already hypotensive and it just made it worse. At the end I went with Sotalol and Florinef that picked up my BP.
Avatar m tn ve been trying to ween off the bisoprolol and was doing so successfully. I got down to about .75mg of bisoprolol and was doing great. I was exercising, and my heart was responding great. My blood pressure was 110/70 and I was having few pvc's etc. Well my dad recently required surgery and the stress got to me and I had a pretty big panic attack. Because of this I went back to my 1.25 mg of bisoprolol.
Avatar f tn I cut the pills in half and used half a pill for 10 days and then I took half a pill every other day, again for ten days, and then I stopped altogether.
Avatar m tn of BB, but I can say Toprol (Metoprolol), which is taken at a much higher does, usually 50 mg or higher, can produce the side effects you describe. Some of us adjust to them over time. I take Metoprolol at a 100 mg per day level, and may go higher. In the beginning it cause a too low BP and caused some dizziness when I stood up too quickly (or just didn't take time to stand up). These side effects have passed, my BP in now near normal.
Avatar m tn My son is abroad. He takes Atenolol 25 mg and Ato-bisaprolol 5mg. Ato-bisoprolol is ending because there were not 90 pills but 60. The pharmasist did not warn about that. Can he start taking Metoprolol 50 mg instead?
351404 tn?1299489130 My changed regime has been for a week now. However, the bisoprolol is making me feel so fatigued and depressed and my eyes want to shut all the time. As it is such early days, is there an alternative to this drug and should I present myself demanding an alternative, or is this my lot from now on?
Avatar m tn i did one echo that was normal, i only had tachycardia. Doc gave me metoprolol. I was taking metoprolol for 12 days and suddenly felt something like pvcs. When i did ecg back in the hospital i saw several pvcs. 2 years ago i did a holter monitor there i got 208 pvcs. these 2 years i felt totally fine but after taking metoprolol i got pvcs and i have it especially at night. what should i do? can anyone help?
Avatar n tn m not sure if there is a chart for comparing beta blockers, but as far as I know, bisoprolol (Emconcor) is about 20 times as strong as Metoprolol, so 1,25 mg of bisoprolol is approx. similar to 25 mg of metoprolol, which again is about the double strength of propranolol. From what my doctor told me, 12,5 mg of Metoprolol is similar to 20 mg of propranolol, but they have different effects.
Avatar f tn m afraid my body is giviing out. IF i try and go down of the beta blockers I start to get that rebound adreniline feeling and heart pounding agian. I'm so weak....my husband is writing this for me. I feel like I will never be able to get off thi s medication if I need to. i take 100 mg of librium per day and nothing else. I'm really scared. Has anyone else had similar experiences. I feel horrible with the constant tachycardia and sklipped beats. i feel worse from head to toe.....
Avatar f tn Increased dose levels can really slow you down. I am on Metoprolol, and have been so for over 10 years. The dosages between the different drugs are not equivalent, but I mention it for reference. I started daily doses at 50mg, and went as high as 200mg. At that level, I could barely operate. I felt like a zombie, and simple tasks left me with a heavy feeling in my chest. We backed it off to 100mg, and I felt a lot better. After my ablation, I had it reduced further to 75mg.
Avatar m tn t see a lot of difference between the side-effects from the water solube and lipophilic ones... They all make me tired, some of them are worse and the Bisoprolol and Metoprolol are the worse for me in term of side-effects. The half-life of the Metoprolol is between 3 to 7 hours... some people are fast metabolizer and the effect will not last 7 hours and the drug will tend to not accumulate that much in the body and blood...

Avatar m tn In October, I decided to lower my dose of Bisoprolol, and over the last 2 Months, I have lowered the dose from 1,25 Mg to 0,60 Mg and 0,30 Mg. But breathing problems and "bad days" were still here. Now, I haven't took Bisoprolol for the last 14 days. I have slightly more energy, I am not that tired, but symptoms of breathing problems and "bad days" when I can barely walk are still here and they are repeating each 3-4 days. Also, before taking BB, my BP was 120-130.
Avatar m tn I am also on Metoprolol and I exercise for at least an hour everyday and have no issues. It may also be that my blood pressure was so low ( 96/60 ) before and it just doesn't effect me that bad, but my grandfather has the shortness of breath type issue on his so I would just say to see your doctor and see what they have to say. Good Luck.
Avatar f tn I was on Toprol XL 45 mg for 3 years and then on the generic Metoprolol Succinate for another 2. The cardiologist told me to stop it, I had shortness of breath and terrible night sweats. I cut them in half and did that for 10 days, then I took those half pills every other day for 10 more days and then I stopped. No ill effects.
Avatar m tn I am taking bisoprolol now, low dose. 1.25 mg per day and I don't know if it is coincidence or the drug but the pounding went down. Feeling much better.
Avatar f tn I have COPD and something was aggravating my breathing problems. I went to the doctor yesterday and he took me off the Metoprolol and put me on 100 mg of Losartan. He told me to just stop taking the Metoprolol. I questioned starting off with such a high dose of Losartan. I seem to be very sensitive to these medications and felt starting right off with 100 mg was a bit high. Everything I've read online suggests people are usually started off with 50 mg.
Avatar n tn I was just wondering if there can be drug interactions between the Ativan and Bisoprolol? I have quite low blood pressure and heart rate, and wouldn't want them going much lower... Thanks so much for any information...
Avatar f tn s not any more potent than metoprolol, but I hear all the negative comments about it and 120mg a day seems a bit high. And if it won't keep my heart rate down then it won't be of use anyway. The fear of rapid heart beat is there, even though I know it probably isn't dangerous, it's a bit unnerving. And even if I'm totally relaxed, the last few times I tried to have sex, I could not keep an erection. And so then my anxiety goes up again, and my confidence goes down.
Avatar f tn I have had Propranolol, Bisoprolol and Emconcor and all of them made me feel a lot lot worse. Propranolol and Bisoprolol even on a small dose of 5mg dropped my blood pressure down so much that I could hardly even lift my head. Emconcor, in small doses made my heart go freaky about 3 hours after taking it. All kinds of crazy rythyms going on and extreme tiredness. The only thing I take nowadays are multi vitamins+ magnesium supplements.
Avatar m tn s and some runs of PAT, longest 12 seconds, over the 48 hours Symptoms are still the same. Have been switched to Bisoprolol from Metoprolol. So this seems less worrisome, though I'd still like to determine and remedy the cause, if I can. Will start reading about PAC's on the forum.
1298588 tn?1330318981 + Like atenolol/metoprolol, but completely beta-1 selective. No vasoconstriction or effect on lungs. Sotalol: + Like propranolol, but also potassium blocking abilities (class III antiarrhythmics) and does not cross blood-brain barrier as far as I know. - Will prolong QT time (class III antiarrhythmic effect).
