Methylphenidate vs amphetamine comparative review

Common Questions and Answers about Methylphenidate vs amphetamine comparative review

ritalin

Avatar f tn Concerta is a methylphenidate based medicine, while Vyvanse is an amphetamine based med. Usually you go to an amphetamine based because your methylphenidate is not working for you. The only possible reason I can think of to take both would be to turn off your mind at night so you could go to sleep and stay asleep. But, I doubt that you could find a doctor to prescribe for this. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need any more info. Best wishes.
5757880 tn?1395578022 * Plain Methylphenidate (20mg / Twice a Day) * Generic Adderall (20mg / Twice a Day) * Generic Ritilan SR (20mg / Twice a Day) * Generic Concerta (20mg / Twice a Day) ... seems all the big money is in the extended release medicine. With this list, I'm unsure what would really be best for my son. He is 8 years old, he takes Concerta 54mg once a day in the morning. They are still evaluating him for PDD and also they will be evaluating him for sensory issues.
Avatar m tn ve been prescribed a generic version of adderall 10mg once a day. From what I read this is amphetamine. My prescription ran out and I used a concerta my concern is if I have a urine test or hair follicle test will the methylphenidate in the concerta show up? Concerta is not my prescribed medicine.
Avatar f tn your son has apparently experienced positive results with Concerta which is a form of methylphenidate, while Adderall is a form of dextroamphetamine (Ritalin and Dexedrine). Frequently the forms of methylphenidate work better for ADHD Hyperactive while the dextroamphetamines work better for the Inattentive. Which is your son? To compound matters further if he is an "active" young man, is his activity "motor" or "distractablitIy" driven?
Avatar n tn I have fairly severe fatigue due to low hemoglobin and I was prescribed methylphenidate (Ritalin) by a psychiatrist, who is part of the hep group that treats me. These people are not quacks or foolish. Unfortunately, there is nothing in my experience that actually fixes the problem. Ritalin can keep me going longer, but it does not really fix the fatigue. I haven't continued with it. Epoetin (Procrit) is the best help, but only somewhat in my experience.
Avatar f tn Parents are asking for FACTS so I am providing the FACTS to them, you can read or ignore.. My cousins little boy was extremely bad in Elementary school, he would scream out bad words, hit teachers, hit other children. Her school tried to force her to get him on adderall. She refused and instead put him in karate and got more involved in his sports. His behavior changed dramatically and he is making good grades in school.

Avatar m tn Could someone explain to me the difference in Ritalin (methylphenidate) vs. Methamphetamines? I thought they were the same pretty much.
Avatar f tn Grace: I saw an answer you gave on one of your posts that a test with a positive or negative warrants retesting with a test that gives numeric values. Doesn't the Immunoblot just give a positive or negative? I've always understood that the Immunoblot was comparative to the Elisa testing. IS there a difference between these two tests as far as accuracy that you know of? Would there be a reason to choose Elisa over the Immunoblot? ...
Avatar m tn Ive heard that methylphenidate/ritalin wont be detected by most urine test but ive also heard that it will show up as methamphetamines, so i dont know what to believe. All i want to know is will it show up at all and if it does will it show my high levels of ritalin being in my system so the doctors will know i was abusing it.

Avatar m tn m addicted to the stimulant medications just try to give me a different prescription that is still a psychostimulant drug (Methylphenidate or Amphetamine). Can someone give me some helpful advice. More than: "You're addicted," "Seek help from a physician," "Ask your psychiatrist." or "find a treatment center." I've done all of those things. I'm not in denial.
Avatar n tn Concerta is a special formulation of methylphenidate that lasts longer. Generic methylphenidate is much cheaper, but is generally taken 2-3 times per day.
Avatar f tn I should have added that it is way outside the norm for a child of ten to be getting out of her seat in school. Her teacher has to set more firm limits on this behavior and, in no uncertain terms, tell her to stop it.
Avatar f tn My doctor recently put on methylphenidate for my resistant depression and today was the first day I took it, I felt super for the first 3 hours maybe, but then a little shaky and fatigue, is this normal on the first day? I also take lorazepam for my severe anxiety and i want to know if there's any adverse reaction, I mean my psychiatrist put me on this just want to know if my reaction is normal, other than that the first 3 hours I felt super fine the depression decrease tremendously.

Avatar n tn Pharmacological therapy mainly uses activating substances such as tricyclic antidepressants or methylphenidate (Dolce et al. 2002). Surgical methods (eg. deep brain stimulation) are used infrequently due to the invasiveness of the procedures. Stimulation techniques include sensory stimulation, sensory regulation, music and musicokinetic therapy, social-tactile interaction, etc.
