Methylphenidate metabolism

Common Questions and Answers about Methylphenidate metabolism

ritalin

Avatar m tn I am not sure, but suspects that she has been using legal drugs such as synthetic cathinones (N ethyl hexedrone, methylphenidate) not very often but on multiple occasions as well as xanax. My question is if occasional use by itself will cause further damage to her liver. I understand that her liver has a slower metabolism or somewhat decreased function, but is using these substances something that will damage her liver cells further? Thankful for your response.
Avatar f tn Is 23-24 hrs enough of a time lapse between using and the surgery. I have a high metabolism, am 31 years old, a male and grew up taking ritalin(methylphenidate) until I was about 16. I've used meth on and off since that age. Please help, I may just call my doctor and reschedule anyways. THANKS!
Avatar n tn Concerta is a special formulation of methylphenidate that lasts longer. Generic methylphenidate is much cheaper, but is generally taken 2-3 times per day.
Avatar f tn My doctor recently put on methylphenidate for my resistant depression and today was the first day I took it, I felt super for the first 3 hours maybe, but then a little shaky and fatigue, is this normal on the first day? I also take lorazepam for my severe anxiety and i want to know if there's any adverse reaction, I mean my psychiatrist put me on this just want to know if my reaction is normal, other than that the first 3 hours I felt super fine the depression decrease tremendously.

Avatar f tn your son has apparently experienced positive results with Concerta which is a form of methylphenidate, while Adderall is a form of dextroamphetamine (Ritalin and Dexedrine). Frequently the forms of methylphenidate work better for ADHD Hyperactive while the dextroamphetamines work better for the Inattentive. Which is your son? To compound matters further if he is an "active" young man, is his activity "motor" or "distractablitIy" driven?
Avatar m tn However, I have also struggled with ADD my entire life and now, finally, at 44, I have sought treatment for that as well. I was prescribed methylphenidate ER-LA 20mg. I am trying to determine the best strategy for taking these pills. I have been taking the bupropion first, then the methylphenidate about an hour later. I feel GREAT at first--focused, clear, calm.
Avatar f tn Prescribed 20 mg methylphenidate three times daily. How do I determine if this is correct dosage? My PCP tested me 5 years ago but until I started going to counseling I hadn't taken it seriously, after seeing a counselor last year, she ASKED me if I'd ever been tested for ADHD and I was shocked but it became obvious when I started researching. It's very overwhelming at times but I'm past the denial stage and currently learning how to cope.
Avatar m tn i am taking methylphenidate two times a day one in the morning and one in the afternoon i'm fine in the morning because i go back to sleep when it is time to take my next dose after i do it makes me sick and have a headache and i am also taking 4mg of lexapro what should i do?
Avatar m tn Does anyone know if having your Gallbladder removed slows down your metabolism? or does it speed it up? What have you experienced?
Avatar f tn If you really want to kick-start your metabolism, you may also try dividing your meals up into smaller portions that you eat more often throughout the day. Every time you eat, it helps your metabolism rise, so as strange as it may sound, eating frequently can help you lose weight or maintain a healthy weight. Take care!

Avatar f tn This should help you,God bless your son and your family. mportant information about Concerta Do not use Concerta if you have used an MAO inhibitor such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), tranylcypromine (Parnate), phenelzine (Nardil), rasagiline (Azilect), or selegiline (Eldepryl, Emsam) within the past 14 days. Serious, life-threatening side effects can occur if you use Concerta before the MAO inhibitor has cleared from your body.
5757880 tn?1395578022 * Plain Methylphenidate (20mg / Twice a Day) * Generic Adderall (20mg / Twice a Day) * Generic Ritilan SR (20mg / Twice a Day) * Generic Concerta (20mg / Twice a Day) ... seems all the big money is in the extended release medicine. With this list, I'm unsure what would really be best for my son. He is 8 years old, he takes Concerta 54mg once a day in the morning. They are still evaluating him for PDD and also they will be evaluating him for sensory issues.
Avatar f tn So today i switched from adderall to metadate (extended release methylphenidate). I have tried every imaginable topical you can imagine without any success on the lesions. I have still not found a doctor willing to treat morgellons so I figure the least thing I can do is avoid anything that worsens the symptoms. I have found some information that backs up my suspicion that Adderall is the culprit. It can increase the glucose level in your body, initiating an inflammatory response.
Avatar f tn I am on 200mg lamictal per day as well as methylphenidate (ritalin). I got laser hair removal on my face. It was a very positive experience. No seizures (my diagnosis is JME and I get grand mals) whatsoever and no photosensitive reactions. Hope this helps you in your decision. I think it's well worth it!
