Avatar m tn However, I have also struggled with ADD my entire life and now, finally, at 44, I have sought treatment for that as well. I was prescribed methylphenidate ER-LA 20mg. I am trying to determine the best strategy for taking these pills. I have been taking the bupropion first, then the methylphenidate about an hour later. I feel GREAT at first--focused, clear, calm.
Avatar f tn My doctor recently put on methylphenidate for my resistant depression and today was the first day I took it, I felt super for the first 3 hours maybe, but then a little shaky and fatigue, is this normal on the first day? I also take lorazepam for my severe anxiety and i want to know if there's any adverse reaction, I mean my psychiatrist put me on this just want to know if my reaction is normal, other than that the first 3 hours I felt super fine the depression decrease tremendously.

Avatar f tn An example would be hypertension which is known to enlarge a heart. If your son had an underlying heart condition ---- and any child for that matter----- adhd meds would exacerbate (is that how you spell that, I'm tired . . .) it. That is why these medications need to be administered with much thought and caution. Good luck with your son!
6104130 tn?1379185811 Any help? I don't take any neuroleptics, only Methylphenidate for ADHD. Let's not forget to mention that I have a bad case of anxiety that I have been struggling for the past year or so to be treated, much less, diagnosed.
Avatar f tn Hi Preggers - I'm only on day 5 and the physical wd's are easing up. I'm battling the mental aspects now...everybody is different but from what i've read the 1st 3 days are the worst & they start easing from there. It should be noted i was using hydro (10/325) 4-6 a day, like you but for 4 years. Congrats on the little one & please be done with the hydro. You dont want to be on it for years like many of have been.
Avatar n tn I was wondering I was on sleeping medications when I became pregnant I was for 12 years I am 27 years old and have had insomnia for 12 years and also was on benzos for anxiety for 7 years and methylphenidate for ADHD since I was in the 1st grade and I stopped taking all of the meds as soon as I found out I was excepting except the benzo I had to cut slowly down but I have not had one since I was 18 weeks anyways was wondering what I can do TO GET SOME SLEEP I GO 5 to 6 days without sleep then
Avatar n tn I have had several attacks of something which hasn't yet been diagnosed. It starts with pins and needles in arms and chest and also heaviness in chest area as well as extreme heat in chest around to back. Blood pressure drops severely, I sweat and feel overcome. Usually my bowels haven't moved for several days but that's not always the case and then I have explosive dirarehea. After that, symptoms subside and I become normal again.
Avatar m tn Actually, the original source of my first treatment is still in business. However, at a cost of $15,000 for initial treatment and $4,000 for any "booster" treatments, it is not really an option for most of people who need it. Including me now.
Avatar f tn You might want to talk to your doc about reducing your anti anxiety medication. Do you have the same doc for both the concerta and the effexor? Note, Concerta should last about 8 hours while the Vyvannse could go 10 to 12 hours. Also Concerta is a Methylphenidate, while Vyvannse is an Adderall based med and is stronger. You might want to try the Vyvannse again, but increase the dose slower.
Avatar f tn your son has apparently experienced positive results with Concerta which is a form of methylphenidate, while Adderall is a form of dextroamphetamine (Ritalin and Dexedrine). Frequently the forms of methylphenidate work better for ADHD Hyperactive while the dextroamphetamines work better for the Inattentive. Which is your son? To compound matters further if he is an "active" young man, is his activity "motor" or "distractablitIy" driven?
Avatar m tn i am taking methylphenidate two times a day one in the morning and one in the afternoon i'm fine in the morning because i go back to sleep when it is time to take my next dose after i do it makes me sick and have a headache and i am also taking 4mg of lexapro what should i do?
Avatar f tn 12 to 14 hours for Vyvanse and 8 to 10 for Concerta. Thats very close to all day coverage and not necessary. Second, they are of two different chemical classes. Concerta is a methylphenidate based medicine, while Vyvanse is an amphetamine based med. Usually you go to an amphetamine based because your methylphenidate is not working for you. The only possible reason I can think of to take both would be to turn off your mind at night so you could go to sleep and stay asleep.
Avatar f tn Now I am sick to the point where I am bedridden and only able to get around for brief periods with the use of a wheelchair. My symptoms include: diarrhea alternating with constipation, abdominal pain, muscle weakness & pain, bone & joint pain, itching, profuse sweating, seizures, tremors, leftsided paralysis that sometimes lasts 5-10 mins. and other times lasting up to a week, blurred vision, eye pain, unequal pupils, headaches, dizziness, and loss of appetite.
5757880 tn?1395578022 They are still evaluating him for PDD and also they will be evaluating him for sensory issues. He was originally on Vyvanse, which worked for a time and then it gradually stopped working. Any information on the medication above - I would appreciate it.
Avatar n tn Its as if the stimulant helps him think before he speaks. Unfortunately , none of the stimulants last longer than a few hours for him and they cause him anxiety. My hope is he will socially mature in time ( will always have a problem, of course) and we will find the "right" stimulant that wont cause so much anxiety and tics . What do you think?
Avatar f tn I have Lyme disease and developed Morgellons disease due to never receiving treatment for Lyme. I wasn’t aware that I had it until I discovered and thoroughly researched Morgellons. I recently began taking adderall for ADHD and extreme fatigue and exhaustion caused by Lyme. When i started taking it, the Morgellons skin symptoms became significantly worse. There are fibers and deeply embedded, thick filaments projecting from lesions on my face.
Avatar m tn For about a year and a half, I was abusing an ADHD medication; specifically, a generic methylphenidate (10mg) that I would crush and snort. There were some days when I would do 2 or 3 of them, but I would also sometimes go weeks without doing it at all. I was going through a very hard time in my personal life, and I found (as I'm sure many people do) that this method of drug administration gave me a pleasant, energetic feeling. I quit doing this about 3 months ago.
Avatar n tn ve been told to see doctor and to ask for beta blockers or something. I take a stimulant for ADHD (Concerta 72 mg) and i don't want to change because the only one that's not a stimulant (Straterra) made me nauseaous and tired. I'm afraid to tell my mom about going to the doctor because i still want to be able to run cross country/track and do the stuff i like to do. I'm afraid it'll react wth Concerta and Singulair i take and i won't be able to take the concerta anymore.
7420684 tn?1391039029 I have tried vyvanse for my ADD and I would hyperfocus on it and when it wore off late afternoon to early evening I would get super depressed. It helped my Social Anxiety ironically. I also tried Strattera for a week but due to my wariness with antidepressants didn't give it a chance. I was thinking about trying wellbutrin or strattera again...Thoughts? Suggestions?
Avatar f tn I am on 200mg lamictal per day as well as methylphenidate (ritalin). I got laser hair removal on my face. It was a very positive experience. No seizures (my diagnosis is JME and I get grand mals) whatsoever and no photosensitive reactions. Hope this helps you in your decision. I think it's well worth it!
