They tried Concerta and it did not work for the school at all. He was very restless and hyper. At home he was fine at the end of the day. So, the way this boy's body metabolized the med was different and the benefit of the med was late in the afternoon. Metadate CD works better for this boy during school hours.

I should have added that it is way outside the norm for a child of ten to be getting out of her seat in school. Her teacher has to set more firm limits on this behavior and, in no uncertain terms, tell her to stop it.

I have a friend who's son (no, really) was taking Vyvanse. He experienced severe dry mouth, hand-wringing, decrease affect, and a very short fuse. Hope you get this resolved; I'm sure you feel miserable. I believe that my friend's son began taking Metadate with more success. Still not sure of any contraindications with Xanax, though.

i got a new dr and he canged me from adderall to methylin generic ritalin....do they have kinda same ingrediaents..it to be used for depresssion but he said i have some add symptoms also on on xanax and prozac,,he is upping my prozac...

My 8 yr old son also takes Adderall XR, but only 15 mg. (for the past 2 yrs.) He was really skinny for a while back in first grade but my husband is tall & thin so we figured that was OK. My dr. said to give our son a milkshake at bedtime every night, and I can add protein if he seems to need it. As he has grown it affects him less than it did at first; he never has trouble sleeping and he has a good appetite at breakfast.
I assume that you tried Ritalin (slow release), Anderall and Metadate CD. These medicines are slow release stimulants and help more with the focus issues of ADD. Usually, the doctor gives Stratera only after trying stimulants and assuming that these do not work. Why Prozac at such a young age? Why mix medicines? If you find an ADHD medicine that works, the ODD might also be eliminated. Keep it simple with only one medicine if you can.
If it is metadate CD it is an Extended release capsules (Metadate CD). If it is metadate ER it is a Sustained release tablets. I really doubt if he is on the immediate release tablet as that would be a huge dose at his age.
Your doctor should have made you aware of what he is on - as this is confusing stuff. If he is having trouble sleeping at night I would try cutting back the dosage - as even in the CD or ER form, it is a fairly high dose for a 6 year old.

The most probable (vs possible) side effect of the stimulant medications is appetite suppression, particularly during the middle of the day. If you consider the use of these treatmenmts, be sure to talk about the side effect profile with the prescribing clinician.
this was in may 08, well last night, i book that i had on sunday came up missing, and she is emphatic that she didn;t ake it, but i know better.. what can i do. She has been taking metadate since Aug. and doing seemingly well, but I don't know what this type of behavior is called or what to even do about it.

I have even been given Methylin to try and help get me reved up. Does not help either! So, I do not know what else they could possibly have in their bag of tricks for folks like us...But, I hope it is something and soon ;0

My son was diagnosed with ADHD with impulsivity at 2 years old. I started medication 2 years ago and he has been on 3mL of Quillivant for the past year. I give it at 7:45 and by 2:30 it has worn off. It has been great and so far the only side effect I have seen is a lack of appetite. At 2:30, the impulsivity starts again so the doctor prescribed him methylin 5mL and that doesn't work at all and upsets his stomach. Has anyone had s similar experience?
Adderall is not the only medication. You might you doctor to try a different medicine such as Ritalin or Metadate CD. These are still stimulants, but in another family of stimulants. Good luck.
d like to know EXACTLY how my 4-year-old boy with a heart of gold was put on the generic of this drug without SOME form of diagnostic process. The drug he is on is Metadate. (As a side-note, I asked her if she even knew what the name of the drug was. She didn't.) I suppose the legitimate question, here, is this... WHAT, EXACTLY, ARE THE GUIDELINES FOR PUTTING A 4-YEAR-OLD ON METADATE?
