Warning - if you are in a program where you go get your methadone each day etc, you better tell them. My husband was on xanax and they thru a fit at the clinic snd ended up discharging him from the program. Guess it is part of the gov't regulations. No benzos. He gave them hus prescription list at intact then they random tested him and kucked him off.
So run it by them first.
I've struggled with methadone and xanax addiction for about 4 years. Most of this has been illegal use, but I am now attending my third methadone clinic. I don't have a prescription for the xanax, so I have to get off it. The clinic reduces my methadone dose 5mgs every 2 weeks if I keep testing dirty for benzos. I was taking 2 bars a day but have tapered down to half a bar the past few days, which is 1 mg.
vicki is spot on about methadone and xanax. I have been on methadone for 7 years and every doctor I`ve ever talked to has said that methadone and xanax is a bad mix. It is also true that tapering is the safest thing at his level. He needs to get to a much lower dose if he wants to go CT. Methadone withdrawls last a long time and the higher the dose, the worse the withdrawls are. Also check out the Thomas Recipe.
Please help I got on methadone 4 years ago due to oxycontin and hydrocodone addiction that had been going on for 6 years......I was up close to 100mgs and have weaned down to 60mgs of methadone. I want off so bad and to top it off I have severe panic attacks and never dealt with my underlying issues regarding the addiction so I started abusing the xanax my Psychiatrist gave me.
U can try ur plan and if u r abusing then flush em//it can be very empowering. be safe with the xanax as xanax wd makes narc wd look like a picnic. 2 mgs is a large xanax dose btw...dont use anymore than u need..and flush them too when u r done if u can.
I am confused...at the end of ur post u mention methadone? which narc is ur doc? what is ur dose of methadone? methaodne should be tapered due to wicked wds for some....
ive been on methadone,xanax since 2004...methadone is for sevre cronic pain from pain mangement..the xanax started with gpdoc now with pdoc..its for sevre panic...was on klonpin 11 yrs prior to xanax.. but just methadone and xanax since 04...i know about the mix or my combo vey well on very low doses of each..the xanax 0.5 5aday..methadone 10 mgs aday..was at 1 time 160 mgs i detoxed at home 2 yrs ago..got away from it 45 days then back at the dose im at..now the questshion??
HE JUST STARTED THIS CLINIC 2 MONTHS AGO BECAUSE HE HAD A DOCTOR FOR 12 YEARS AND WE HAD TO GET NEW INSURANCE AND SHE DOESNT TAKE OUR INSURANCE WE HAVE NOW SO AFTER ALL OF THOSE YEARS HE WENT TO HER SHE WAS GIVING HIM 480 10 MGS METHADONE PILLS A MONTH AND 150 XANAX 1MG SO HE WOULD TAKE 160MGS METHADONE A DAY AND 5 1MGS XANAX A DAY BUT SHE TOLD US WE HAD TO FIND A NEW DOCTOR THAT WOULD TAKE OUR INS.
He keeps telling me that he wants to get off the methadone and the xanax, but keeps. I am fearful that he will never get off the xanax. He went cold turkey in May and had every bad withdrawel problem's. I know he should probably be in an in-patient clinic setting. I have heard it takes any where from 3 months to years to finally get offo xanax. I read an article that if you take topamax and kolnipin it should help with withdrawels????
I also think your B/F is taking a lot more methadone to be so cationic from it I had similar symptoms when I was taking 150mg....tapering off methadone is tuff to do as addicts we are always looking for a pill to fix what is wrong this is not a solution please take the warning as serious he is not having normal reactions to the combination...
I have been on 120mg of methadone and 2mg of Xanax both for about 3 years. About 15 days ago I stopped both of them Cold Turkey and now feel really bad. I have taken my blood pressure and it is 200/101 and pulse rate is 163. Also, I am not sleeping at all at night and my legs are very shaky and almost numb feeling. Is this normal? If not, what do I need to do?
Yes I went to my primary doc yesterday and he told me that since I just started the Wellbutrin, that we weren't gonna change anything right now. He also stated that I have been on Xanax for almost 3 years on the same small dose and taking it with the Methadone will not kill me, and Wellbutrin won't throw me into seizure activity and I won't grow a third arm or eyeball.
Well they have him on 110mgs of methadone a day which he was taking 16, 10mg methadone pills a day with this other doctor so he even came down on the methadone by 50mgs a day and these xanax he was taking was unreal sometime 15 - 20 pills a day when the clinics doctor looked at his blood levels he said his was the worst one then they have ever ran accross they couldnt believe he could take that much so they were really worried about him.
opiates are a little different than benzos, yeah longer lasting opioids like methadone or suboxone are harder and longer to wd from lasting a month or more, methadone is a little harder than suboxone but both are brutal, i cant tell you how abd methadone wd's are..
I've been on Methadone 30mgs for 10 years. I was also on an antidepressant, Xanax, and Buspar. I also used Neurontin for chronic pain. I got fired from my pain management Dr. Because I continued to use the Xanax, after 3 warnings. Then my medical doc dismissed me from his care, saying I was a drug seeker. That was not true. I had called and asked for Xanax with refills, and Buspar. He saw those calls on my chart and jumped to conclusion. Also told me he doesn't prescribe pain meds.
i've seen a hundred times that mixing those two is very dangerous. i'm no doctor, but i myself take methadone and once i took a valium, i've never felt sicker!! i do believe it is very dangerous. . .
My doctor did not prescribe me the methadone or the oxy's I stupidly bought them off the street. The xanax are prescribed! I have not taken methadone in 39 hours.
I'm currently in a methadone maintanance progrm. I started abusing xanax now I want to know how to detox off the xanax?
